Christians claim it is the word of God, but then they threw his "old laws" away in favor of a kinder gentler god with new laws of turning the other cheek. So was the "kinder, gentler god" the same god of the OT? He just lightened up a bit? How come he went from being a murderous, oppressive tyrant to being somewhat of a less murderous, oppressive tyrant? That doesn’t make any sense at all. Is there one god? Or is there two gods? It sounds as if people are attempting to make up explanations for why the god of the OT was an asshol- yet now we should take his word seriously because hes not longer an ass. The heart of man is wicked and deceitful and his tongue is full of poison. We hate the natural condition of man. But man's nature is imperfect and fallen. someday we shall all change in a twinkling of an eye and be restored. At least some of us. Ok this is going to sound mean but no meaner than what is above, unless one can't see the manipulation in the words. How perfect is it to set man up to mistrust his fellow man as well as himself with the repeated assertions that he is deceitful and wicked and should hate his own natural condition. Set up the conditions where by you can control a man that has no self worth but that which you allow him in some limited and controlled way. Yet at the very same time the charismatic leader type sees the value in using the man with no self worth to do his bidding. Now we have created the church leader and the followers. Wow the rulers of the world must have seen the value of manipulation in the bible immediately. The value in using peoples fears against them to gain power and treasure, and those that will be so frozen in their fears, staunch in their prejudices who will be the work force to gain that power and treasure. How brilliant that the same book can empower some and enslave others. And of course avoid too much education for the masses, it should be seen as evil for obvious reasons, take care not to give women too much power, especially, you know how they are.. grin So now you have more that will be the slaves and the few that will rule the world. Absolutely brilliant, add Intelligent design and creationism to solve the boredom factor and write a few zillion books from Nostradamus to Left behind series and you have access to the idle and depressed minds of the new age.. wow, it just gets bigger and bigger until all minds are as obedient as all others. Wow, I'm a believer! |

Being analytical in my thought processes, I have been going up and down, in and out, agreeing and not agreeing. When I was still working as an inpatient psychatric RN, I listened carefully to what everyone had to say, supporting them in their belief system (some superiors called me wishy washy), and when all was said and done, I believed it all as long as it did not hurt me or someone else! |

I think perhaps you are taking some of that a little too literal darling. I think it is meant to be taken literally. Why wouldn't it be? I expect people to say what they mean and mean what they say when they are passing out specific rules and regulations. Being ambiguous is only going to confuse people. |

Yahgirl.. I tried. I rest my case... and will say no more.... One closing note: It is NOT in trying to keep laws of the OLD TESTAMENT, that gets you saved, Yahgirl... You must be born again ,yahgirl. Don't dismiss this.... Also...Jesus brought us a a new covenant... You are still trying to keep the old jewish laws....legalism. No one could keep the law..that is why God sent us a saviour. There is NO legalism in my worship of Yahweh. There is ONLY OBEDIENCE. My Messiah did the same things, that Yamin, Miles and I do...He kept the Set Apart Days, HE Kept the Sabbath, He abstained from idol worship, He only ate CLEAN FOODS. These things are NOT hard to do, all you have to do is open your heart and allow YAHWEH to give you His Spirit. There is Shalom, and JOY and LOVE in Yahweh's TRUTH. There is NO WAY one can say that what is commonly called the OT has been done away with. If one says that they TRUST in the ELOHIM and His Word, which is Scripture. Yet in the same breath says that the Torah has been done away with, then it is clear to me that, that individual clearly worships some other g-d and NOT the ELOHIM of Scripture. No matter how you slice it one cannot pick and choose, one MUST be obedient to the TRUTH of Scripture.. |
