Well I have to disagree.....because I did get caught up in a lot of drugs and Pot was the first at age 10, then drinking, then coke........so although for you not the case. The fact of the matter is I gladly gave it up over 18 years ago and can see life thought clear un-red eyes. Also kids played a huge part of that...what example are you setting for them....

And biggest factor H E L L O it's against the law.

I agree. I am the mentor for my child. I did my share of things when I was out of high school thru my 20's. I won't do them now that I've grown up. I won't do anything illegal as a parent either. Since then I've worked in a drug rehab and I wouldn't wish the hell of addiction onto anybody.

I've not been an addict but addiction is in my child's family. That means that my child has a chance of becoming an addict. I must do my best to detour that path. I even let my child's doctor know that I don't want cough medicines with codeine for my child. With an addict, pot is not strong enough and they go onto harder things.

I agree 100% winx.......

I work with drug addicts to winx's gives a whole new meaning to why one should grow up at some point and not still think there 20. it's horrible to watch a 14 year old heroin addict come down. And many of them not all started smoking pot....

So you never took cough medicine before that? Or even an tyenol or advil? I'm not arguing with anyone on this issue, I brought facts to the front here and so far no one has backed up this claim of "gateway drug"...so I'm left thinking they are nothing more than words since no one has any valid proof to back it up aside from "personal story" here and "personal story" there. Truth be told people don't do harder drugs because they started with pot, they do harder drugs because they want to do harder drugs.

I don't even take asprin....Well I am living proof darling and yes it sure did...the pot just wasn't working by the time I was 12 then drinking, then that sucked then coke.....and in between srooms, hah whatever......else I could get my hands on....There is not a drug known to man I haven't done.

It doesn't matter even if for some doesn't lead to other things..When I finally quit and cold turkey and that...I saw the world in a whole new light and I smoked pot 32 years...and I don't care what anyone says....you do not function the same on as you do off....My life is sweet now....And I have no desire to touch any of it ever again.

So by choice you did other drugs...not because marijuana told you too. I'm glad you quit, as well as your life is sweet. In the long run it still came down to choice, you chose to do other drugs whether or not it was because you weren't getting the same high from marijuana, you still chose to move on to harder drugs. That is my point, marijuana doesn't make choices for you it simply cannot, LSD is about the closest you can get to a drug making decisions for you and even that doesn't work.

It's not about choice with some people.

Then we both know that with an addict, pot will never be enough. And the person that smoked the pot didn't know that they were an addict when they started with pot. They didn't have a crystal ball to tell them that the tendacies to become an addict were there.

I, at least, have the foreknowledge of addiction in the family so I can be on the look out for my child. I even enrolled them in DARE.

I'm so sorry about your family and the pain it has caused you.

You are doing incredible work with those kids. I do pray that my child never goes that way.

My scientific facts say that isn't true. University studies say that isn't true, and they use the same potency marijuana available. It also isn't sprayed, it is hybridly grown. They split the seed with any number of drugs to make the high better, but in the end if the high isn't good enough, maybe yes, people will move onto harder drugs...but the same applies to cocain, heroin, and really any other drug known to man.

But that still doesn't stop people from screaming out that marijuana is the gateway drug, which the theory in and of itself is flawed.

Wall screw scientific studies and get your arce out their working with the addicts and then come back and tell me this..I don't care if it's the gateway drug or not......there all bad news PERIOD.

And this is why arguing something like this is plain stupid, even faced with facts people still turn a blind eye. So how about we all march to capital hill and try and get them to rid alcohol, as it is far more toxic than that of marijuana? The same could be said for tobacco...oh, suppose screw that as well? They're not all bad news, and I'd rather not work with addicts as their personal choices led them to where they are...my mum was an addict and still to this day I don't understand the concept of addiction...seems like a silly excuse to do stupid things.

Probably. But then being 'mature' isnt necessarily a good thing.

Pot is great. I smoke a lot of it, everyday. I wake up and smoke it, carry on all day and then smoke before i go to bed.

Its bad because it will probably give me cancer. But then everything gives you cancer these days, so f*ck it, im gonna enjoy my life.

Most people that are so against pot dont know a thing about it.

But then i wouldnt like my kid smoking it.

Well when I have children if I caught them smoking a joint. I would take it from them and the punishment would be depending on age. But, I would take something of great value to them & tell them the bad effects of pot & that it is illegal & not to be used in my home. I would educate them on drugs & their effects & why they shouldn't be used.
