I don't believe each class treats members of another class the same at all. Nor does it work within the caste system. I believe there are people within such situations that may rise up between them even in such structured caste systems, but it's pretty rare. It's more common with the America's but not so common outside of them.

The way people treat others is bestowed upon what they're worth. You don't walk up to the president and say hi what's up man how are you today? You will be greeted and spoken to in turn if a friend but during the meantime I suggest you find something to entertain yourself with.

I mentioned indentured servants. Most Americans seem to think slavery ended, yet I look at my godmother and see the perfect example of how it still exists. She's past 90 years old, she lived within the confines of the property, took care of 5 children and then my grandmother when she fell ill. She is a virgin, and her life was bought and paid for. I don't believe that middle class people operate that way. I see it exist in other societies as well not just here in the America's. I've seen things I'm not proud of exhibited by members of my family, but that's life.

I walked up to president bush and said "Hey, what's up man". Of course I was a combat decorated vet invited to dinner by my senator and I was formerly addressed to him by secret service.

Class and caste structures are still taken very seriously around the world. From pygmy tribes in new south wales to backwoods tribes in africa to native american tribes here in the U.S. I attended the Ute indian 2 day celebration of prayers to the mountain last august. The rituals and dress and caste structure go back 1200 years. A beautiful thing to see. A wonderful history. And they take it very seriously. Same with the pueblos, the aztecs, and the egyptians. Long histories and many stories. I enjoy learning of each. I know what you're saying though- in some cases class has also fell into the melting pot of societal change.

But say I was in a middle eastern country and I unknowingly saved a little girl who just happened to be a princess from getting run over by a car. They could possibly elevate me in caste. That history was meant to be. Make me sumaritain from infidel. That allah meant for it to happen by his graces. Stranger things have happened. Like service. For who would have ever thought sir paul mcCartney would be knighted by queen elizabeth? Caste elevation can happen. By marriage most frequently.

that's great - never go a day smiling and sharing a smile - it makes the heaviest burdens more manageable.

Awolf makes you laugh and his default pics reminds me I have laundry to do winking

And here I thought that having class means manners and certain self-worth, regardless of persons status. But no, here comes reality and reminds me that there are still people who forgive person for being an ass on the basis that he is "higher" on the social ladder then the rest.

I've learned -
that the best classroom in the world is at the feet of an elderly person.

I've learned -
that when you're in love, it shows.

I've learned -
that just one person saying to me, "You've made my day!" Makes my day.

I've learned -
that having a child fall asleep in your arms is one of the most peaceful feelings in the world.

I've learned -
that you can tell a lot about a person by the way he/she handles these three things: a rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights.

I can't agree with the marriage. My aunt was just married. She married a school teacher in NY. It's a total respectable career, but the family yeah not so much. They saw their sister as doing much better. Kind of like how my mother married a bottom feeder and was shunned as well. The family of the groom totally hilarious but they felt soo uncomfortable at the rehearsal dinner. Mostly because the rehearsal dinner was mostly our family. In other words, your friends weren't welcome by the brides family. I believe that It was very disrespectful to the groom. When the wedding went off, once again the grooms friends and family were almost shocked and bewildered by what they saw. It amazed me somewhat to see how much food would go to waste. The desert table alone was about 6 delicatessens fully packed with goodies if not more.

I've learned -
not to judge people by their relatives.

I've learned -
to talk slow, but think quick.

I've learned -
when someone asks you a question you don't want to answer, smile and ask, "Why do you want to know?"

I've learned -
to smile when picking up the phone. The caller will hear it in your voice.

I've learned -
to spend some time alone.

I've learned -
to remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.

I've learned -
that when you plan to get even with someone, you are only letting that person continue to hurt you.

The problem is you're using an incorrect statement, I've never heard of such a thing. It doesn't exist in the dictionary either. So I'm lost and until you're able to give a better definition which doesn't exist for a term and definition that does I must stand by what I said.

Just because you have some preconceived notion that a person has class doesn't mean that your reasons are right.

For example you said mother theresa. Mother Theresa was respected by the upper echelon, she was welcome just like my godmother is now welcome to being more than just a maid/caregiver. She earned her title through her dedicated years of service to our family.

You mentioned ghandi and ghandi is again well respected by the upper echelon in some view or another. You're giving people who were accepted by the class system even though they were in a different caste system. They broke through barriers and transcended from one to another. Just because you start as a nobody doesn't mean you won't be recognized later in life. These 2 were recognized for their deeds to this world, were respected. You can't say that the thankful bum at the local dunkin donuts is revered in the same light as ghandi.

you no wat i see as having no class, stating in a forum so that everyone can c that u were born and raised in the "upper echelon" as you like to call it!!! And then stating that us lower middle class, that may wear ripped jeans and an old t-shirt, have no possibility of having class. Insulting people that don have as much money, or as you apparently see it, people that r below u, is a real sign of having no class. So apparently all that money never did buy you class!!!!
