It is real simple folks, do mean and hurtful things to other people and don't ask for the Lord God Almighty, The Creator to absolve your transgressions against others and self through the teachings and the sacrifice of the Son of God, and YOU WILL BE JUDGED by God Almighy. Whether or not that means there is a hell or not and whether you will go there ,I DON'T KNOW, I AM NOT GOD! As far as these silly questions that are really nothing more than insults in disguise, well I would feel pretty confident in saying, GOD PROBOBLY DOESN'T LIKE THAT TYPE OF BEHAVIOR. I really get tired of trying to teach the same simple idea to the same small group of thread mongers every time I get on the religion threads on this site! If you just do not agree then say so and let it go. The people of the christian faith do not keep logging into the atheist and other forms of religion threads and asking questions that are actually insults in disguise. SEE YA so your saying that if I don't ask your god for forgivness then there is a chance that I may burn in your gods hell. And how is that not an insult to those that do not believe in your god? You talk about how bad the nonbelievers are and then do the exact thing that your condeming them for doing. |

And to answer the OP question.
God has commanded people to do some of the most evil things ever thought of in our history. If you believe in god and he tells you to murder children, then you must. And he has ordered many horific things from people and they gladly did it. I personaly think it is voices in their heads telling them to do these things but either way if a voice tells you to kill your children and you think it's god then you kill them. Just ask abraham. |

The natural inclination for the human heart is for wickedness. It takes effort for a human to be "good".A lot of what we consider to be "good" is actually wickedness. What G-d says is good and evil is what is true, not what we humans say it is.To be loyal to G-d is to be a traitor to the human race and its wicked heart. You do not go to Heaven when you die. There is no afterlife.Only ressurection.

Im not an excessively religious person (I dapple in my things) but I tend to believe in the idea of polarity to the exclusion of the concept of dualism. Christianity asserts that there is a pure good and a pure evil and I find that standpoint to be utterly ridiculous. I know for a fact Im not always a good person. I know that I also have the ability to be quite altruistic. So that allows for an acceptance that I am both good and bad. So is Mirror Mirror and so is Marty and so is the Earth and so is everything else.
That position makes much more sense to me. |

Know this, the term "christian" is a term that was coined much after the death of Christ. It was probobly coined (thought up) by Paul the doctor who spent much of his time writing his interprtation of what God and Christ wanted everyone to be doing. I'm not dish'in the dude, he probobly really was trying to help. Unfortunatly too many people are stuck in this idea that the "bible" is Gods holy word. While some of it may be, most of it is not any more "Gods holy word" than what you have just read about the forgiveness available to us through the grace of God. This is where people often get sidelined, YOU CAN NOT WORK YOUR WAY INTO THE GOOD GRACES OF HEAVEN. It is a gift, it is totaly free. You do not have to go and pretend to give God 10% of something He already owns. It is all about grace and love. NOT SERVITUDE!
why can people not seem to get past this idea that just because some king english king authorized a book, It is the word of God????? use your brains people, thats why they are in your body. This was from only two pages ago, if you are not willing to even look back to see if I have addressed the Op's question from two pages ago, I would only guess that you may also be unwilling to study the diferent veiw (in written form) of early world history. I'm not jumping on you, But I am getting tired of answereing the same questions every time I log on. It does not seem to matter what the actuall topic by the OP is. If it has to do with faith in God there are several people on this site who seem to take pleasure in disrupting the thread by repeadtidly asking the same questions that are actually insult in disguise. This makes it difficult for the ones who are really trying to enjoy them. I'm sure the mods are catching on though. |

Martymark, I have to agree with you because God never actually told anyone to do anything, even good things. People who go around claiming that god told them to do something are kidding themselves or just delusional. Perhaps something inside of them told them that they should do something, or perhaps they are psychotic, or perhaps they are listening to their own thoughts, or perhaps someone put a chip in their head... but they have no way of knowing if it is God who is telling them to do things. |

It's gotta be that chip thing, they just sent me an e-mail telling me to come up and get mine replaced, appearantly it has quit working!

And who spoke to him from the burnning bush? Or are those the parts of the bible that was the made up part? |

I think Moses just went up on Mt. Sinai and got these commandments. Never mind if they were from god, thats not important. Of course no one was around so we just have to think they were from god and keep your mouth shut. Shhhhh! Or I will run you through with my sword.
So on and so forth. I would have been killed immediately, I can predict that unquestionably. |

debating the bible is like debating history - every one has their own take on things and never the twain shall meet. I believe even if we had lived in those times there would still be arguments and rebukes just as there were between Paul and peter and James supposedly? if they couldn't or didn't agree on what was correct then, and they were filled with the all knowing spirit of god/Jesus, how can any now days be sure of what is truth and fiction - what is correct or lies - what is of man and or supposedly god/Jesus?? debating any history is a shot in the dark at least, and a guess at the authors agenda[s] at worst.it leads nowhere and ends with nothing gained but self-satisfaction for some maybe. and that's really worthless in the long run.
why do i participate then? only because once in awhile i see something so blatently wrong i cannot help but respond. sorry if that offends anyone. TS jmo |
