for help (of any knd) difficult for you? And on the flip side, is it difficult for you to offer, if someone doesn't ask?

Nope.... I'm not shy of asking or offering. I take no for an answer well, at times. happy

I'm the designated counselor for everybody I know, a role I'm very comfortable with and for which I have the necessary training. It makes me feel good to be able to help the people I care about. They know I am always available for them.

On the flip side, I really have no one I can go to for help, and it is extremely difficult for me to ask anyone -- partly because there are relatively few things I need help with, and partly because the few problems I do have are such that they are beyond the abilities of anyone I know to address.

I rarely ask for help...which is my downfall at work since I get hurt alot. I will offer but I look to see if my offering is wanted.

It all depends what it is I'm not one to ask for help very often. I tend to try to do it myself unless it is something I know I can not do then I will ask. But if it is money nope I want.

If a friend ask me for help I will gladly help them or offer if I see it is something I could help them with. bigsmile

I find it difficult to ask, I'm almost like to "critical" before I'll ask, I'd help anyone who asked but because I've had my space "invaded", I also find, that's it's just as difficult sometimes for me to enter into someone else's space without them asking.

I would ask family only. I tested my "friends" once. I pretended to be in need. I asked for help and they either said no or went behind my back talking trash about how well off i was but now i was broke. U can't go wrong w/ family. They are the only people I would help. And of course children, charities, and the homeless.

just kidding

I can ask for help without reservations (but to only a select group of friends) and also provide it (to almost anyone).

It's VERY hard for me to ask for help. I have always just dealt with things on my own.

I give people help whenever I can.

Huh, funny enough I was just contemplating this very thing earlier.

I have always been the "caregiver" in my family, the one everyone turns to deal with all the "stuff," the one everyone can rely on to solve the world's problems. I have rarely had anyone to help me out when I needed it, and I learned very early on that asking for help wasn't an option for me. Now, I realize the error of my ways. It's ok for me to ask and it's ok for me to say no. The saying no part I don't have much of a problem with anymore but the asking for help part? It's something I struggle with on an almost daily basis. And I have someone in my life who I KNOW I can always turn to, yet I rarely do unless he pushes (which he does). It's frustrating for me not to be able to overcome my lack of trust in this respect and I know it's frustrating for him. Thankfully, he's very patient with it. But, especially lately, it is something I really need to focus on more.

As for offering help, that is not now nor has it ever been an issue for me. Anyone who knows me knows I'd do anything for anyone if it's within my power to do so. Hell, sometimes I help people whether they want it or not noway noway laugh laugh laugh

I hesitate to ask, but will if necessary. Frequently I offer my assistance.

"Ohh that is so heavy, can you carry it for me?"
