What do you think is the reason why a person would be afraid the have a black president. I have been doing calls for Obama for some time now and I have actually had some people tell me that they would never vote for a black man. I guess they don't think I am black or perhaps they don't care. I just don't see how anyone can justify this.

you dont understand the mind set because you are not white and have not been taught to fear black people..racism & bigotry, ironically, have no prejudices, they affect everyone equally...
|
|
|

that maybe true, however, are you saying that they don't ever question why they fear?

when you work in factorys an every time they dont get their way they scream discrimination an get what they want that is alot of it. ive had racism rammed down my throat all my life an im white i cant say things i grew up saying cause it might offend someone because some ass made it sound racist didnt even occur to them this might just be our native tounge an have nothing to do with them. but since your asking i am gonna have to vote for obama since hillary is out of the picture an i beleive the oil industry took care of that seems money buys who ever they want for president these days not the american people voting .i think its time we did away with the electorial colledge vote an go with the popular vote.just my opinion take it as you will .

ignorance is a great soother, the less you question the easier life is...the more you question the more difficult life becomes because you realize that you are actually a part of the human race instead of "apart" from it and responsible for your actions..
is just soooo much easier to hate someone without thinking about it.... |

ignorance... lots and lots of ignorance...

I would love to see Obama elected. However Enderra I fear you are correct. I have heard too many people where I live say "I'm not voting for him because he's black" It seems as though nobody cares about the politics any more. Their justification for this is born of fear; if a black man is elected then white people will lose their social dominance in the country. No matter what I say their minds are not swayed. It's the most ignorant thing I have ever seen.

were would we be now if Al Gore had of won back in 2000 not in debt, with Bin Laden executed, hundreds of thousands of people still alive, a stable middle east with a tighter control on terrorists activities..I think the list could go on and on.... |

I think people say that because they have never had black friends.

i am sorry to say this but in my experience some of this is completely irrational.
I lived in Los Angeles during the riots after Rodney King. I worked at a College 35 miles north of the city. They decided to lock down the college. As though bands of rioting looting blacks would get in their cars and drove out to the college and????? The next day the faculty met and I being the only black teacher was asked, "Grace, why are they doing this?", these were other educated. |

I'll never forget the time I helped my best friend move from Phoenix to San Antonio. He had taken a new job and relocating. I was driving the U-Haul and he was driving his car.
As I pulled up to the Texas border, the typical lawman with the mirror shades and cowboy hat came up to the truck and asked me "Where ya headed?", I replied "San Antonio". He asked "What ya haulin?", I said "just some household stuff". Then he asked "Is it yours?" I said, "No". He said "Who's is it". I replied "It belongs to my friend in the car right behind me." He looked back at Kelvin in the car who is black, then looked at me with my shaved head and said "Hey Jimmy Joe, bring them dogs over here and search this truck!" True story. |

It's the most ignorant thing I have ever seen. Thank you I wish I did yoga to help with my chronic pain. Yes, some people just like to feel superior to others. It probably comes down to their own insecurities. Fears that Obama will take jobs from the white man and give them to the black man. Fears that a modern day Robin Hood will be taking vengeance for the past. Back in England where I am from originally I heard many similar comments about Indians and Pakistanis, "They come over here and take our jobs and we have none." Nobody looked to the past to see what we did to their countries and nobody looked to the present to see that they were more qualified and better educated than the people making the comments. I hate lumping a group of people into the term "they". We're all people and we're all equal no matter what our background, no matter which country we were born in. |

I suspect an equally small percentage is also afraid to have a women vice president. I don't know what the exact statistics are but I would like to think that the vast majority of people would vote for reasons other than race or gender..but who knows, show me the statistics/evidence and I'll change my assumption. White people do not own the exclusive rights to racism.
When ever I see that suggested I get mad as hell. If you want to talk about racism be honest about it please. |
|
|

the statement that obama is black ifs false and misleading
that is reason enough not to vote for him it has nothing to do with his 25% black heritage it is the dishonesty of using it to try to push more people to vote for him |
