I am picking up some sugar and cream for our little group we have locally. I am sure the church will appreciate us using our own sugar and cream for a change.
You mean, you have been using the Church's Stuff?smile2

Yup. And I have the church's permission. I know it doesn't sound right. What was funny was our new lady pastor is Rita W. She has the same last name as our founder Bill W. She said that she had never heard of Bill W. But she was just elected as the church's pastor and the church she came from used to have AA in their church. One of her closest friends was a member.

My sponsor told me after someone asked me in the meeting to be their sponsor that I couldn't turn them down. I think that is just cold bloodied. laugh But a fellow member told me in a meeting that when your sponsoree ask you a question and you don't know the answer that you can ask advice from your sponsor. Revenge is a dish better served cold.laugh

It was good to go to an outside meeting where I didn't have to chair. It was so relaxing to be just another alcoholic. There were 36 people there and it was nice to attend a larger meeting. It was nice to have a meeting on acceptance. It helped me to accept reality on its own terms.

Good to see you, Conrad. My sponsor well into his 80's had his key to the church last meeting. I had left mine in my van down at its usual home to be fixed for the umpteenth time. I used that 500 pound phone to get a ride. Was glad I did a guy who asked me to be his sponsor gave me a ride. Just the week before a new comer he offered to give a ride was with us. We had to get a bigger truck for us all. Went to get the keys but of course since it was being fixed they had put them in the shop. Called my sponsor and he had his set of keys. My new sponsoree was wanting a set of keys and my sponsor was wanting to get rid of his set of keys. The transition worked out great. I am afraid to approach the topic of responsibility at out meeting but it was just in the little black book a few days ago. Service work is just so important to keep a small group going.

I haven't been to Switzerland since I was a small child. I was born in Frankfurt, Germany and went to school at Karlsruhe kindergarten through third grade. Just learned a few words of German since dad was stationed in the Fifth Armored Division. I was born on base in an Army hospital and after I lost my gebunstat in New Jersey I never got my birth certificate back. Really the only thing I remembered about Switzerland was when we went around and around up this mountain of the Swiss Alps. They weren't finished with the road so dad had to back down the mountain in reverse. The road was very narrow and I was scared. I remember sitting on the banks of the Rhine river watching dad building temporary bridges.

We had a good meeting, tonight. I think accepting reality on its own terms would best describe it. Roger borrowed his sister's car then went to pick me up. Then Roger went after Stuart and we picked him up. Then they dropped me off at the meeting so I use Roger's key to open the church up. Then Roger and Stuart went to Walmart and left me at the meeting to make coffee. So the coffee was just about ready when Brian showed up. Then Brian and me waited for Roger and Stuart to get back from Walmart so we could have the meeting. I did remember to get Styrofoam cups at Harp's grocery while Roger went in there before we picked Stuart up so that we wouldn't have to use the church's supply of cups since we are supposed to be self-supporting.laugh

I missed last Friday's meeting and Roger called me yesterday to see if I wanted to go tonight. He said that if I would have called him he would have picked me up for that meeting I missed. Tonight I found out that he had broken the coffee pot. He took me to Fred's store and we were trying to buy just the glass pot. They had the whole set up. The manager is a friend of mine and gave me a good deal on the 30 gallon steel one. Now we can save money by not having to buy filters and it is a better deal for us guys who are like bulls in a China Shop.laugh I was glad I had gotten that key for Roger. We were down to three members, tonight since Brian has trouble seeing at night and the days are getting shorter. Luckily, Roger went to get Stuart because Stuart was thinking about getting drunk.

I missed last Friday's meeting because I worked a double at the nursing home. Roger said that the turn out was good when he was fixing my transmission on the old 1984 Dodge Ram Prospector. My sponsor was impressed with the truck I got. He and I held down the front end of the truck and he said that the shocks were good. He is a Dodge man, too. He said that the 1984 Dodge Ram Prospector was a better deal for me than the 1986 Dodge Caravan van I have that is always in somebody's garage. Of course, he has that almost new Dodge Ram with the dual tires in back. Maybe, someday when we get to Mopar heaven we can each have our own 1965 Dodge Ramcharger Candymatic. Reminds me when I was in Basic Training in the Army and that one guy named his son, Mopar.rofl

I never went to AA. I drank my sophomore through senior years of high school. We went to parties every night were drugs and alcohol were available. My brother was terminally ill and I literally just drown my sorrows. After he died, I stopped drinking. I don't drink now. I associate alcohol with tragedy and depression.

My friend, Marshall now wears an allergic to alcohol bracelet on his wrist. I went to visit him this morning and when he tried to drink on the anti-abuse it was put on him.
