I couldnt agree more...With the exception of children...
As adults we should be able to make the choice, not mandmade
laws...Don't we pay enough in taxes already...
I do believe children should be belted at all times...

(seatbelted, that is...hehehe)

It would be nice to think that atleast there was some altruisism
involved, but unfortunately it is about generating extra revenue for the
local government. Back door tax so to speak.

Hey ya think $50 is bad come to Texas and get one you will be less
around $200 in your pockets. Myself I have to admit when I had my truck
had two pretty bad wrecks without the seatbelt on I would have gotton
hurt pretty bad on of the wrecks totaled the truck it was a ford ranger
I came out with a headache the second one messed up my F250 extended cab
pretty bad not a scratch. So I can say due to the seatbelts I got lucky
on both wrecks. Even if the was to stop the law I would still wear mine
and anyone that rides with me would. flowerforyou Just my
thoughtsbigsmile

Notwithstanding the greedy insurance companies and the fact that it's
infringing upon your freedom (God forbid) why someone can't put two and
two together with regard to the laws of inertia and simply wear a
seatbelt based on the fact that, if the car stops abruptly (as in
"slamming into another vehicle/tree/telephone pole?), you're going to
keep going (as in "through the windshield?")

I can't speak for anyone else, but I sure as hell don't need a LAW to
tell me to use common sense. I buckle up everywhere I go, and so do my
passengers, else they don't ride with me.

They do save lives.
Without seatbelts, my brother and two other passengers riding in the
car with him wouldn't be around these days.
He was in a car that flipped 4 times going around 70 mph. They all
would have been thrown from the car if it weren't for their
seatbelts.huh

Think about the cost of taking care of all the people w/no insurance.
Seat belt law is saving you on tax dollars.
Don't believe ask around a hospital, how many people have no insurance.

well, somehow i don't see any reason for anyone not to have their
seatbelt on,for me it's automatic and i don't even notice,sorry if i
don't understand you complain.

lmao... mine was $75 I couldnt argue too much though cop pulled me over
for passing him and proceeding to go 75 mph in a 55, he only gave me the
no seat belt ticket. I will say since then Ive managed to take the 2
seconds it takes to save that money next time.

1992 i had a 1969 ford f-150 pick up that my step dad gave to me as a
birthday present. i was doing 88 km/h on loose gravel when the passenger
back tire blew.no seat belt and the ability to swim like a boulder i
chose the ditch iinstead of the dugout.NO seatbelt.went towards
passenger window and stopped in mid air and back over to the drivers
seat and something did up my seatbelt.when the flying lesson was over i
went to get out(panic kicked in)i was confined to the truck.i panic
quick because i am claustrophobic.i managed to get out of the truck and
i recall to this day that ride through BOTH heaven and hell.i drove taxi
as well and the one fare tried pulling a knife on me.i slammed on the
brakes as i grabbed the back of his head and slammed him into the
radio.no seatbelts both times.i refuse to wear a seat belt because of my
phobia.

hey, *****willow, try running into a telephone pole or a car going 40
mph without a seatbelt on.

About five years ago, an ex boyfriend of mine's only child, his
22-year-old son, was driving about 35 mph or so, dropped his cellphone,
bent over to pick it up. When he sat up, he realized he had swerved into
the oncoming lane. A car was coming, he swerved over to miss hitting
them, hit a parked pickup truck that had two people in it. They weren't
hurt, though, thank goodness.

Jeremy cut his head on the dash or steering wheel or something...he
passed out...they put 16 stitches in his head. Almost immediately his
brain swelled horribly, and 72 hours later they took him off of life
support.

He had gotten out of rehab about three months' prior, was signed up to
go to film school, and had the rest of his life in front of him.

His heart was too damaged to donate, but several of his other organs
went to people whose lives were changed immensely because of it.

While that is an honorable thing for his parents to have done, I'm sure
they would rather have Jeremy there with him, living out the rest of his
natural life.

Had J been wearing a seatbelt, chances are VERY GOOD he'd still be alive
today. And he is one of MILLIONS of similar-scenario statistics.

***** and moan all you want about the law, but I'm sorry; in my book,
anyone who doesn't wear a seatbelt, simply based on COMMON SENSE
principal alone, is being rather petty.

My mother works for a large rehab hospital here. You should visit it
sometime and see the patients they have in there...brain-damaged, can't
walk; some may never be functioning human beings again; some still may
die from their injuries -- many of them because they didn't think anyone
should mandate seatbelt use.

Hospitals can absorb the cost of the uninsured via writing it off for
taxes.

Rather than legislating seatbelt laws, it's seems more prudent to simply
disallow tax payer dollars, from social programs such as medicaid, from
footing the bill of those who don't wear seatbelts, with the exception
of children. They certainly shouldn't receive substandard care because
mom and/or dad were idiots who didn't buckle them in the vehicle.

I am an advocate for seatbelts and I wear them every time I am driving.
However it really is not necessary to legislate the issue in regards to
adults. Makes for interesting Darwin Awards though.

The helmet law...

If they dont want to wear it, dont make em.

It weeds out the gene pool.

drive into a lot of pohone polls do you jean?...my point is when did it
become right for anyone to tell me what to do in my car...if i dont want
to wear i shouldnt have to and no ones *opinion* on the subject should
change that...i dont care who they think they are saving...and if its
saving so much damn money...why havnt my taxes gone down...cause that
argument...like the law on this subject is full of it.

we need to have a city worker in all bathrooms to check that you wiped
your ass right...and if you dont you get 75 dollar ticket because you
may get some sort of illness from bacteria.see, i wash my hands...but
there are those who dont and i feel we need to make it our
responsibility to teach them the error of their ways..because i know
best.....same thing as seatbelt law...selfrightous bull.
