My daughter is 6 . She started first grade today.
I just got a call from the teacher...
Seems that my daughter did not like that another first grader pinched her rump, so as a result she used a bit of Martial Arts on him.
The teacher was VERY upset and asked If I condoned this. I said, well that was the MAIN reason I put her in Junior MMA. To PROTECT herself !
Now mind you, she stated to me that he was not in trouble, but now they may punish my daughter.
How the HECK can she be in trouble for doing this? I asked if he was bleeding, she said no, that my daughter hit his throat. Which can be fatal if you use too much force.

And they are ONLY 6 years old.
I am not saying what she did was right, but even still. He started it...
Right????what

KEEP IN MIND SHE WAS SEXUALLY ABUSED BEFORE SHE CAME TO US!!!! SHE DID FEEL THREATENED IN SOME WAY OR ANOTHER.

Schools have a STRICT no touching policy. Despite him touching her first, the thing the kids have to do is walk away, to adhere to school rules.

Right you are...my son defended himself in school one day and he was expelled and they did nothing to the other kid...really burns me up. I would have a talk with the principal and make sure he got in trouble also...even though they are only 6...that can be considered sexual harrassment in the school system and if he is not stopped, they are letting him know it is okay.

Very true.
I just hate to have to punish her for this. She will be going to MMA class tonight and I will have to speak with her Kempo instructor

Right????what

I had a problem simuliar to this with my daughter when she was in the 6th grade. Please remind the teacher that a pinch on the arse is considered a form of sexual contact and is illegal in all states.

Good for your daughter for defending herself!

shoving is inevitable for every kid in school right?

don't kids ever touch each other at all at school?

enlighten me! noway

It's about what you say to her and how it's discussed. His actions were not okay, but neither were hers. She broke a rule. Simple.

The other thing is condoning violence as a response to violence. That's not okay to teach kids.

With my daughter's situation, the boy got 1 day in school and was 2 weeks of out of school suspension. Until I mentioned the sexual contact. I am not condoning this but if a kiss on the cheek is considered sexual contact a pinch on the rear has to be also,

no touching policy? gee this kid pinched her back side most grown adult would have done the same thing. not to mention sexual harrasment, personally i'd give her a treat when she got home. the school disciplined her for doing what she has been taught is the correct course of action

You can shake hands or high five (with permission), but no hugging, roughhousing, slapping, pinching, hitting, tickling, shoving, etc. No touching. Period.

Why sure they do, but I know my daughter would not have done this if she were not being pinched.

I don't think its a big thing that he pinched her rump, but SHE did not like it. This was NOT just one pinch apparently.

I don't condone violence, however, she is a girl , she NEEDS to know HOW to protect herself at all times.
I don't wish to say alot , but before she came to us, she was ABUSED badly.

She is 22 yrs old now but this lesson helped her to learn that no one touches her without her permission. And I feel that is a lesson ALL children should learn at an early age no matter their gender.

My police with my son and daughter was simple.
If they start it, you finish it. I'll handle what follows.
If you start it, then I will finsih it.

They never started it and I only had to talk to the principal at 2 different schools about my son. Needless to say, neither principal was arguementive when I left.
