A man must not have sexual relations with one wife in the dwelling of another. (Leviticus 18:18)
346.

Does this mean that a man may have two wives but he has to have two houses and he can't have sexual relations with one wife in the dwelling of another wife?

Or

Does this mean that he cannot have sexual relations with his wife in someone else's house?

If so, then what is the reason for "one wife" instead of saying "his wife?"

It looks to me like its okay to have two wives if you have two houses.

lyrics by Brendan Graham. A student priest among other things....

Good try hahahhahaha

"Only"? If you ever listened to the piece as it was originally released by Secret Garden in 2002, you'd know about the orchestral parts, so Lovland was also the arranger. No easy feat, either.

Besides, Graham is primarily known as an Irish novelist. But in your all-Christianity- all-the-time mindset, it's not too difficult to fathom why you would give Christianity all the credit for this beautifully arranged and executed piece.

At least you knew that Josh Groban wasn't the writer/composer/arranger, even though he's been given the lion's share of the credit for this song.

rofl

women have all the fun, anyway.

they marry a guy, then spend the rest of their lives trying to change him.

It is universal. rofl rofl rofl

then. inexplicably, thirty years later, when they have succeeded in changing him, lockstep and in unison, they start complaining that he is not the man they married.

I am not a conspiracy theorist, but most mortgages are paid off in thirty years.

come on guys, we are being duped.

Actually Wouldee it really does goes both ways.

Men marry a woman because of who he thinks she is and then he insists on changing all the things about her that attracted him in the first place, then he tells her she is not the woman he fell in love with.

A man has an idea of the kind of woman he wants, and that is a good thing, but then he takes the first woman that will have him and tries to remake her into his dream wife.

He spends the rest of their married life trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. It just don't work.

That was my last marriage. laugh laugh laugh

A man must not divorce a woman he married after having raped her. (Deuteronomy 22:29)
359.

I feel very sorry for that woman. He rapes her, then marries her and... now he can't divorce her.

These laws are written for men, not for women. Another example of the poor way women were treated as property not human beings.

It is what it is....and don't think that other women haven't said the same thing...It was a man's world...and no matter how much you complain about it now...it won't change it.

Thank God he sent Jesus huh....

You wanna bet it won't change? Women are already ignoring the law about keep their mouths shut. LOL

Thank God he sent Jesus? If Jesus is God, then he is responsible for these laws. Like Abra said, what makes you believe that it will be any different in Heaven? Will you still be a woman in heaven or will you be both man and woman? Or will you be neither? What do you think Deb?

I think your insane......gigglesnort......and totally joking.....cmon there was a lot of amazing women of the Bible to.....You guys are harping on something that just was....It is not like that now.....Cmon JB I don't shut my mouth for no one....and God knows and uses me because of it.

Remember Jesus would not of been able to do his ministry had it not been for women......

The Three Wise Women

You do know what would have happened if it had been three wise WOMEN instead of men, don't you?

They would have asked for directions,
arrived on time,
helped deliver the baby,
cleaned the stable,
made a casserole,
and brought disposable diapers as gifts!

Indeed feral, there is one woman in particular who is quite amazing. She is the mother of Jesus. No, I don’t think that she conceived him without the help of a male at some point. However you say tomato, I say tomatto. She still gave birth to Jesus. She is highly respected throughout the Catholic community and beyond. Interesting to me. Catholism would hardly stand without her. In some cases, entire ceremonies, cathedrals, and gardens are dedicated to her. In Mexico and Ireland in particular she is worshiped and sometimes she overshadows her male counterparts. Perhaps the last stand of the Goddess? As Isis? As Aja in Africa, as Fuji in Asia, Shakti in India, the list goes on....

"A man must not approach a menstruous woman for sexual relations or in any way to become ritually unclean by her. (Leviticus 18:19)
347."

I hate to keep harping on Leviticus, but there it is again and it bugs me. Okay so that kind of falls in line with the out of proportion fear of menstrual blood. Notice "ritually unclean". Now what are they referring to exactly? I think it might just mean that for a man to get her menstrual blood on his thingy is a bad idea. It will make him "unclean" because of the curse of her blood. Now folks, we are adults here and hopefully have an understanding of the female anatomy and the basic principles of reproduction. What is the shedding of menstrual blood? It is the discarded lining of the uterus that is shed if no seed implants here and begins forming into a child. Once again, there is this vicious attack on a woman's body and the ability to create life.

Another thing, generally women go through a condition known as amenorrhea which is a suspension of the menstrual cycle that occurs after birth for a period of time. Breast feeding will lengthen it. All of these women during the time of Jesus and before then were of course breast feeding. So that means shortly after giving birth, there were no periods for a time after. Therefore, your little claim that this "atonement" was for her own good because she was menstruating doesn’t hold water either.

As far as the snake and its possible derailment by the Christian movement, I found some evidence. Actually quite a bit. The one that stood out is Crete. The snake was definitely intertwined with the feminine in this society. Here is a photo. This would have been about 1600 BCE

Other goddesses known to be associated with snakes are

* The ancient Egyptian goddess Renenutet often appeared in the form of a hooded cobra.
* The ancient Egyptian snake goddess Meretseger.
* The goddess Wadjet, associated with the Lower Egyptian sanctuary of Buto.

While the goddess' name is unknown, some have speculated it may have been "Ariadne," since that name may mean "the very holy one," and thus the Ariadne of Greek myth may be the Snake Goddess, "reduced in legend to a folklore heroine."[1]

"I know this is painful for the ladies to hear, but if you get married, you have accepted the headship of a man, your husband. Christ is the head of the household and the husband is the head of the wife, and that's the way it is, period."--Pat Robertson, "The 700 Club," 1/8/92
