Spider, nobody is slandering or libeling anybody. This thread is not about Christianity. Please keep on topic if you are going to post here. That is also one of the rules.

JB

One must wonder why you didn't make this same post to Abra when he was insulting Christianity.

Christianity is a religion. It does not 'feel' insulted. It is simply a religion. It is not a conscious entity.

First of all, you don't deny that Christianity was insulted, you just desire to quibble about words and their meanings.

Does Christianity exist?

Insult

to treat with insolence, indignity, or contempt :

Notice that the definition of "Insult" doesn't require that the insulted party is conscious? I could insult a dead person. I can insult the office of the president. I can insult anything that exists. Since Christianity exist, it can be treated with contempt. Therefore, Christianity can be insulted. Check and mate.

On a side note, when will you people figure out that quibbling over the meanings of words is a disreputable and often silly debating tactic?

but insulting Christians is nothing new......I just fluff it off...because it's really not about "what religion" I am...more then about my "RELATIONSHIP" with Christ Jesus.

Instinct is an interesting thing, but I think it is essentially a kind of memory or maybe some kind of 'programing' for survival. It can also be shared information within the group consciousness that flows through a certain species. Like ants or bees. When they are born, they seem to all know what they are supposed to do. It is like this with many species.

They are either all connected on a consciousness level or they have passed along specific programing information ~or both. In any respect they are aware of the body, the hive or nest, and what they are supposed to do. They work together as a single entity.

Instinct is very interesting.

Spider, the particular post that you claim was "an insult to Christianity" was a result of you insisting that Abra was "missing the most popular and correct choice" after he announced that there were only two choices.

I guess you just felt left out. huh

He was completely avoiding Christianity and he was staying on the topic of this thread until YOU brought it up and threw it in his face that he was missing "THE ONLY CORRECT CHOICE."

(At least I am going to assume that you meant Christianity, since that is what you preach. If you have any other choices or meant anything else, please let me know what it is, I am all ears.)

So when he answered YOUR CLAIMS that YOUR CHOICE was the only correct one, you became insulted.

He did not insult Christianity. He only implied that it describes a pantheistic god. His impression of humans as "pets" is actually more endearing than my impression of them as "slaves or servants."

Therefore, you are the root cause of his answers that you claim are insulting. If you will stop going around insisting that your's is the only truth possible, perhaps you won't have so much disagreement or opposition.

So you see, you brought it all on, and now you are complaining about it because you feel 'insulted.'

Here is the post that is at the root of your complaint.

Where does consciousness come from?

Abra states:

If you're a pantheist it comes from spirit. flowerforyou

If you're an atheist it comes from accidents.

There are no other choices. smokin

Spider states:

You are missing the most popular and ironically, the only correct choice.

Now you continue to break the rules with your whining. Stay on topic or stay out.

Thank you.

The root of my complaint is the post I quoted. Period.

His impression of humans as "pets" is actually more endearing than my impression of them as "slaves or servants."

So you would rather be a pet than a servant? Does the Bible support that belief? Jesus described people as being his brothers and sisters, not pets or servants. Jesus taught that the best leader is the best servant. Jesus spent his ministry serving the people. Feeding them. Healing them. Teaching them. Washing their feet. And eventually laying down his life for their own. To claim that Jesus wants us to be pets is insulting.

That doesn't make it right. When Paul was beaten by Roman guards, he called on their superior to press charges. Christians are fully protected by the law or in this case, the rules.

Whether the Bible supports that belief is NOT the topic of this post. What Jesus taught or did not teach is NOT the topic of this post. If you want to preach what Jesus taught then start a different post.

The point I am making is that you brought it on with your insistence that you have the correct answer. This is a perfect example of the Law of Attraction. You are the root cause of the problem. You invited it.

I have asked you to stay on topic and stop disrupting the subject of this thread. Are you going to comply with the rules or not?

By your "Law of Attraction", Abra is the root cause by insisting that everyone must be a Pantheist or Atheist. You say "you brought it on with your insistence that you have the correct answer", but completely ignore the fact that ABRA SAID THE SAME THING! laugh He offered two possiblities, intentionally excluding the possiblity of any religion that beliefs in a personified God. Abra loves to tweak the noses of the mono-theists, but you just give him a pass, while you throw a hissy fit when someone responds to his comments. Your own beliefs and actions prove you to be biased. Also, there is leeway on the rule against being off topic. You continuously post attacks against me and insist that I can't respond. That's childish and since you aren't on topic, any response I make should reasonably be exempt from the rules. So are you going to obey the rules you keep demanding that I follow or not?

The law of attraction works the same for everyone. I am not throwing a hissy fit about you responding to Aba's comments. I object to you threating and accusing people of insulting Christianity when it is only you (a person) who are insulted.

Perhaps I am biased. You could be right. Most of the time I disagree with you, and most of the time I agree with Abra. If that is being biased, then I am biased.

I also am not apposed to jumping his bones. bigsmile

But the fact is, I don't care what you want to say, or post if you would just stay on topic, but I don't like it when you whine and threaten to report people because you feel insulted.

You would probably feel a lot less stress if you would realize that you are not the micro manager of the world and realize that other people have different world views than you and a right to express them. You believe yours is right. So be it.

The idea of a creator god is the third option. You choose that one obviously. Now please expound on why you believe that to be true. I really would like to know.

Beliefs about beginnings are all based on faith, because the proof is lacking. So why do I have faith that God created the universe instead of believing in pantheism or atheism? Because of what I have learned through studying the Bible. Prophecies that have come true. Complex storys that transcend books and authors. Repeating patterns exist throughout the Bible. The lesson being again and again that people need protection from judgement. I might be wrong, that's a possiblity. But the single most factual answer to "Where does conciousness come from" that any man can give is "I don't know.". It comes down to what you are willing to put your faith into. Which is why God is called "The Rock" throughout the Bible. This is God assuring us that he won't change, that he will always be the same and is a safe foundation for our beliefs.

Spider,
How has this choice (Christianity) been a benefit in your life and how long have you been a Christian? What was the major thing that brought you to your conclusions?

Christianity has given me a foundation for my beliefs. I used to buy into a lot of strange stuff. I tried the Hermetic tradition, Kabbalah, dabbled in Crowley and Golden Dawn, experimented with Pantheism, practiced meditation and tarot card reading. My beliefs were in constant flux, because I couldn't find one that felt right. I always thought there was a God, but I rejected Christianity because I had bad experiances with Chirstian relatives in the past. One day I was listening to the radio and I heard a Christian talkshow. The person speaking answered a question that is fundamental to Christianity and one with which I had struggled for a long time. That answer made so much sense to me that I decided to study Christianity to see what other questions Christians had answers for. After that moment, I was on my path to becoming a Christian. That was almost 2 years ago.

I don't have time to go into all of them, but here is a website that seems to have a good compilation of fullfilled prophecies. Jesus' life fit so many prophecies that it's staggering. Many of them appear contradictory within strictly Jewish terms. Many of the Old Testament prophets spoke of the Messiah being mistreated and murdered in Jerusalem.
