I have long thought that Oprah Winfrey is one of the most dangerous women in America. She's intelligent, funny, charming, charismatic, dynamic, persuasive, and generous, but she is using those qualities to promote a worldview that is anti-Biblical to the core. Every time I see her on TV, I think of how the devil disguises himself as an angel of light. If it's true that she once believed in Christ, then I can only lament how she has fallen away from her first love, and how she is leading so many others astray. She needs our prayers that she will return to Jesus, and then turn her considerable talents back to serving Him instead of a false teacher like Tolle.

Wow; I almost made a thread a couple of months ago. I was gonna call it "Oprah, dangerous"?

I love her. She is the most giving and concerned woman on the planet. Through her so much has been done.

This new thing she is doing with that guy is good, but can it change beliefs? I have read and listened to what is going on in there. Much learning and being spiritual.

My fear was also that she has so much power, that she could lead masses of people astray.

But, wouldn't it be great if what she is doing changes the actions of those that would otherwise keep killing our planet?
She promotes love, understanding, and earth, and yes, even God.

it would be nice, even great !!! drinker

She still scares me though. Too much power.

yup drinker that too huh ohwell

Is it really necessary to have a Bible for your faith to be strong or even to exist?

Is not the Bible and its various interpretations what has caused the divisions (sects) within the Christian faiths?

So at a time when, it seems, more people are getting away from that umbrella label called Christianity, someone is still out there calling peoples attention to a higher power. I would think you would all feel that is better than denying such a power completely.

But here we see that at least a few are attached at the hip to that book. If the HOLY SPIRIT is your guide, if you can all hear the words and follow them, what need is there for the Bible? Can you not communicate these things without a book?

Just Curious!

Also, imagine how long the Jewish faith existed in a nomadic and very secluded lifestyle, how true the faith remained and all by word of mouth. mmm interesting.

Hi Redy.

there are many things in the Bible that are age old promises. They are still alive and well.bigsmile

It is also an exellent fence for keeping it simple. Sounds contradictory, you bet.

Institutions have been built around the legacy of any one man or group of men coming together in the Spirit and preaching and changing lives with the power of the Holy Spirit. These institutions become entrenched with tradition over time, but the Holy Spirit is still about reaching the world and starting churches around the true aniointing, world wide in every generation.

Traditions will always be born and held in high esteem for the favor God has shown the congregations.

Some have particular favorites in the promises and find living truth in them and teach what they have been blessed with.

there is so much to blessed with in so few promises of God.

That is a quick snapshot of relative perspectives.

The Holy Bible is also an excellent source of those promises, and part of reaching the entire world of man in every generation involves the loving thoughtful kindnesses of those so inclined to fund, purpose, translate and diseminate the Holy Bible throughout the world in every known tongue. It has come to the point that even the most sequestered languages are being interpreted for them by others.

And the Holy Bible is being published, shared, delivered, and generally made available to any and all, whosoever would choose tpo read it in their own tongue.

We have found that it also is sufficient to bring any to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ in truth.

Many seek God and the anointing of the Holy Spirit as a result.

God speaks for God, and we dig that!!!

We are excited about the fact that it works and people are blessed and lives are changed.

A great example is Romania, even though they are having growing pains as a nation since Cheauchescu fell, but the nation is predominately free and Christian and healing and growing and at peace.

How cool is that?

Russia, China, indonesia...same thing.

Each generation is given the resopnsibility for itself.

Every generation is meant to be blessed.

That is why the Holy Bible is significant.

God honors the words in it.

People seek God because of it.

That is the point, not to become grea biblical scholars and show off our intellects.laugh

oops, that's me, huh?laugh laugh laugh

There is unspeakable joy available to man from God, in Christ.

We cannot refrain from giving them the opportunity given us.

Love demands that we give, and give we do.

as we are able, to the last.

little and insignificant is a great thing.

ordinary people achieving exta ordinary things through God with favor.

That's why we preserve and respect and reverence the words preserved for us.

To preserve it for posterity.

Even though, we are living epistles...living letters walking and talking with the truth in our hearts and minds.

Just keeping it real.

there is no need to change or alter it, just keep it clean with due diligence.

We don't get anything for doing it.

We already have ours.laugh

We aren't selfish. really.happy

peace.

I don't know what happend to all the threads either, and whatever you think, Farel, I was not making a beef with Wouldee, I was just making a comment that should have been said plainly. Wouldee is right you (Christians) are held to a higher standard. It may not appear to be fair but you have placed yourselves in that position with your faith.

That being the case it is you who needs to set precident in accordance with the WORDS you teach and live by. Do understand what Wouldee was saying?

I watched that thread from it's inception, if lines had not been drawn by the Christians posting there, it would not have progressed as it did. I'm not saying they started it all, what I'm saying is that as Christians they should have neither continued nor started the drawing of lines. I said it before, this is how Christians make the label a less desireable one to be grouped under.

NOW - If I'm going to participate in this thread, then surely I can contribut as well as ask. I have learned some of life's greatest lessons from a child, wouldn't it be amazing if a Christian leaned something from an atheist?

We all learn from each other. Life's lessons come from all directions including from within. flowerforyou

Just fix your eyes on Jesus....cause when all the different denominations get to heaven, we will all find out that all our denominational differences didn't matter anyway....cause we all still believe in the same Jesus

I don't know, why did anyone listen to or Jim Baker and Tammy faye

or James Dobson?

Guess it depends on whether or not you accept the message they impart.

Opra has never been less than kind and concerned, and honest enough to do some of her searching in public. Now she has had a revelation, just like many of you. But you you, as usual, thing only yours can be correct.

How do you know that the Holy Spirit guides Wouldee, how do you know that it's not a mental disorder that drives Farel, how do you know that Satan works through Oprah and not God? Who are you to say who God should pick to work through?

If any human can do the work of God and be an angel in your time of need than God can work through Oprah. Admit it, imagine just for once that you could not possibly know what God has planned.....

Psalm 14:

The fool hath said in his heart: There is no God. They are corrupt, and are become abominable in their ways: there is none that doth good, no not one.
2 The Lord hath looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there be any that understand and seek God.
3 They are all gone aside, they are become unprofitable together: there is none that doth good: no not one. Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they acted deceitfully: the poison of asps is under their lips. Their mouth is full of cursing and bitterness; their feet are swift to shed blood. Destruction and unhappiness in their ways; and the way of peace they have not known: there is no fear of God before their eyes.
4 Shall not all they know that work iniquity, who devour my people as they eat bread?
5 They have not called upon the Lord: there have they trembled for fear, where there was no fear.
6 For the Lord is in the just generation: you have confounded the counsel of the poor man; but the Lord is his hope.
7 Who shall give out of Sion the salvation of Israel? when the Lord shall have turned away the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.
======================================================================================

Dear Daddy from Heaven, I want to say thank you for giving me the grace of being able to see you. I ask you Daddy for those who can't see you. I know you love them in the same way you love me. They are my brothers and sisters as well. Grant me Daddy the blessing of sharing eternity with them also. I ask you this in the name of Our Lord Jesus Christ who lives and reigns in the unity of the Holy Spirit and is God forever and ever.

Amen.

My opinion is that Oprah is a great woman and humanitarian. She has done more for the good of downtroden humanity than most anyone else.
She has the power to make people do what she says though. She is so admired for who she is and what she has done. Her word has almost become "the word" to many. Now...I don't know what "the word" is actually, but she is very good at making people think one way or the other.
Her cause is good, though dangerous in of its'self. Not bashing Obama at all here, but I wonder how good he would be doing if she had not come out so loud for him. Her followers believe in her so much that they feel as if she thinks this or that; then it must be true. Almost without question.
Her public almost or maybe even does... worship her.
She can do no wrong in their books.
Religious people love her. But, don't religious people think living together is wrong? Don't they think getting drunk is wrong? She does. Doesn't the bible teach that too much is a sin? Oh wait....she gives much of her vast millions, billions? Ha, that's just interest to her. Not bashing for having too much.
I have more respect for that billionaire...uh....richer than Gates or was ......he gave almost all his fortune to Gates to do what Bill does. He gives it away to less fortunate and builds things with it. Okay...Oprah has built things...
Does she really need how many homes? Have you seen the one that only two people live in???
Okay she deserves it. I mean she did earn it. She talks about "green" all the time. Her home is a wasteful space. Look at the energy she uses up.

I need to shut up now. I love her. I don't believe in her though.

Without Him
By Unknown Author

"I could not do without Him,
For Jesus means to me
More than all the richest gifts
Of earth could ever, ever be.
The more I find Him precious,
And the more I find Him true,
The more I long for you to find
What He will do for you.

What will you do without Him
In the long and dreary day
Of trouble and perplexity,
When you can't find the way?
When no one else can help you,
And no one guides you right,
When hope comes not with morning,
And rest comes not with night?

What will you do without Him
When death is drawing near,
Without His love, the only love,
That casts out every fear?
When the shadow valley opens
Unlighted and unknown,
And the terror of its darkness
Must all be passed alone?

Why will you do without Him?
There is no other Name
By which you can be saved,
No hope, no way, no claim.
Without Him- everlasting loss
Of love and light and life.
Without Him- everlasting woe
And everlasting night.

You need not be without Him!
For He is passing by.
He is waiting to be gracious,
Only waiting for your cry!
He is waiting to receive you,
To make you all His own.
Why will you do without Him
And wander on alone?

But with Him! Oh, with Jesus!
Are any words so blest?
With Jesus - everlasting joy,
And everlasting rest.
With Jesus- empty hearts are filled
With His perfect love.
With Jesus- perfect peace below,
And perfect bliss above."

Matthew 18:10 Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always, behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.

This verse helps me in my chosen calling in the caring profession because 'little ones' is a subjective term. I know that God loves the little children and all of the little children of the world. And to us they are weak but to him they are strong.

Matthew 19:14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.

I used to entertain angels unaware but nightly Jesus points them out to me. I am especially glad he pointed this one angel to me who just turned 100 years old last month because she has been the biggest blessing that he could ever given to me.flowerforyou
