Hey, ranting is good for the soul. I appreciate reading people's rants. Its very entertaining. It vents. I do it myself. I have an entire blog devoted to my rants. It gets an amazing amout of traffic.
Here is one called "How to spot a liberal or conservative." Its really funny, I include pictures. http://jeannie49.wordpress.com/category/dirty-politics/ JB |

Perhaps re-reading your original post would help you understand what i am saying. I am one of the "they" you spoke of and yet you don't even know me. I deleted my profile and started new. Been here a long time. I wouldn't dare call you on your claims as i have nothing to substantiate or deny them with just as my claim to being anything I state could be the same for you. My point is as stated earlier. Take up your issues with the person you had the problem with. It helps one to appear less bigoted. OK, let's look at my original post. Here are the uses of "they" -- or similar terms: 1. "There are those here who refuse to accept anyone who doesn't believe as they do....and who will tell you, repeatedly, that you're going to hell because of it." Unless you're one of the people who has literally done this, I don't see any way you can interpret this "they" as encompassing yourself. That is the only way you could be one of the "they" I speak of -- and, if such is the case, then my claim IS accurately applied to you -- so you would have no grounds for argument there. "There are those" doesn't mean everyone or even every Christian -- if you choose to interpret it that way, then I think you may be suffering from a persecution complex. In any case, that's certainly not my fault, nor is it my problem. If you decide to read things into it that are clearly not there, that's your business. 2. "I don't believe in hell, I don't believe in their book of fairy tales. To me, religion is just superstition with better funding and more interesting hats." "Their" here, referring to those who believe in the Bible; which, as is my understanding, most Christians do. The only way I can see an objection here is to my use of the term "fairy tales," which I've been doing for years, long before I was ever on JSH (or any other site), which has little, if anything, to do with my using "they" erroneously as a generic and inclusive term against Christians. If Christians believe in the Bible, and I refer to that belief, and if you are a Christian and do believe in the Bible, where is the complaint? Again, my assertion is accurate. How can you take exception to my including you as a Bible believer, if, in fact, you ARE a Bible believer? Take exception to my use of the term "fairy tales" if you will; that's my own personal opinion. If you choose to be offended by my own personal opinion, well, again, that is your choice, and not my problem. The bottom line is that my "they" and "their" were not intended to be anything other than references to a.) a small group of JSH posters who have reviled me for not believing as they do, and b.) a generic term encompassing believers in general, referring SOLELY to their belief in their written scriptures. I fail to see how any of this qualifies as a "rant" (the "more interesting hats" comment is generally understood to be a joke) -- but take it as you will.... Common sense, in the end, will rule the day. You can parse it any way you like but it is painfully clear that you view all Christians in the same negative tense. As GW Bush said, "you can fool the, ah, um, some of people, sometimes, but ah, um...... |

As GW Bush said, "you can fool the, ah, um, some of people, sometimes, but ah, um...... You must have missed the post a few minutes back, where I mentioned my best friend is a Christian. Several of my other close friends are, as well. To assert that I "view all Christians in the same negative tense" is absurd and demonstrably untrue. If it helps you to ignore the parts of my posts that don't agree with your assertions, feel free to do so. If it helps you to take things I wrote and interpret them in ways which are clearly contradictory to what I actually said, that's OK, too. |

Hey, James "Amen" is a forbidden word for u. Just the lunatics can use it. You may get some kind of illness. Technically the word "Amen" literally means "I agree". Therefore it seems appropriate for others to say "Amen" when they agree with a prayer or statement. However, in that context is seems kind of strange that people will often say “Amen” after saying their own prayer. That kind of like saying, “I agree with everything I just said”. It can also mean, “So be it”, which also seems strange to say after a prayer since it usually up to the deity to make it be and not the requestor. So it’s really kind of strange that people say “Amen” after a solitary private prayer. It’s just a tradition that evolved I guess. There was also an Egyptian God named Amen. But that’s a whole different story. The word ‘amen’ does not imply a religious context. Even atheists can use to the word ‘amen’ to simply mean that they agree with something. It simply means, “I agree”. Solitary. I like that word. In solitude it's easier to talk with that imaginary creation of my mind that i like to call God. And i also can hear the voices in my head. at the voices in your head M. |

Oh no you could have voices "in" your head... your grammar was fine...
i'm just not used to you making jokes in religion- I'm glad you can see the lighter side. And I wasn't aware that you heard voices... |

And please stop playing "in" or "on" the highway!
I know you believe that you'll go to heaven but- no rush right? |

God ain't dead, and you're right, JB. You gotta watch out for them "they" folks everybody.
And Hell, in my opinion, is the absence of God. If you'd apart from him, you're already there and on the way permanently. If you unite with him, you already have his spirit indwelling, you can know the divine presence and you have the promise of eternal life with Him. Could you give it a try? Should you give it a try? Would you give it a try? I hope you will. |

That is why I agreed with the statement. |

You must have missed my response to that post. OK, let's try this again. I mentioned, in an earlier post: "My best friend is about as devout a Christian as there is. And, because I have read the Bible cover-to-cover seven times, and am familiar with the material, he often calls me and asks where he can find a particular verse or event." To which you responded with: "Perhaps re-reading your original post would help you understand what i am saying. I am one of the "they" you spoke of and yet you don't even know me. I deleted my profile and started new. Been here a long time. Take up your issues with the person you had the problem with. It helps one to appear less bigoted." Which I then completely debunked with: "OK, let's look at my original post. Here are the uses of "they" -- or similar terms: 1. "There are those here who refuse to accept anyone who doesn't believe as they do....and who will tell you, repeatedly, that you're going to hell because of it." How many times do we have to rehash this in order for you to see that you're simply ignoring what I wrote because it interferes with whatever it is you're trying to accomplish here? Logically, and semantically, you have no leg to stand on. Your accusations and generalizations regarding me and my positions have been disproven. You mentioned that you had been here before, under another user name. Mind telling us who you were, and why you left? Because I've got a hunch I know who you are, and it would explain a lot of your behavior.... |
