But if that’s the case then non-believers will have no reason to believe it. Why would they want to believe in foolishness?

And how could anyone become a ‘believer’ in the first place? How can they believe in something that they can’t understand and appears as foolishness?

The idea that people need to have a ‘secret decoder ring’ to understand the Bible is hogwash and doesn’t hold water, because you’d need to have the secret decoder ring before you can believe it! Otherwise you’re being asked to believe in foolishness that makes no sense.

This God is already deceiving enough to expect people to believe in him whilst he plays silly hide and seek games. Now you’re expecting us to believe that the Bible appears as gibberish to non-believers.

There isn’t much sense in non-believers reading the Bible then since it’s only going to appear as foolishness to them. I’m not sure how they are supposed to believe in this God.

I can’t just say, “Ok I’ll believe in that”. That false belief. That’s just a façade to try to appease someone else. You can’t just decide to believe in something by choice. You have to be convinced that’s it’s true to believe it. At least I do.

I don’t just go around believing in things on a whim. And even if I were going to do that, why pick this picture of God to believe in on whim? If I’m going to shoot craps why not pick a more loving picture of a more intelligent God that has unconditional love to offer. Why randomly pick a God who’s obsessed with blood, guts, violence, and sin and salvation?

Moreover, the other pictures of God have more logos to support them than this picture does. Much easier to believe in a genuinely wise God who never had to drown her creation than to believe in a God who is constantly making blunders and can never seem to get anyone he creates to obey him.

Or is the whole flood story one of those foolish illusions that disappears after you get the secret decoder ring?

The words of the Bible would have to actually change after you get this secret decoder ring. If the stories are the same, the secret decoder ring isn’t going to help much. Unless it’s a brainwashing device that makes people stop asking legitimate questions. Maybe that’s it.

I have been born again in spirit, and the Bible is still a bunch of foolishness to me.

No works required...no jumping thru religious hoops is reguired,no being good enough is reguired....no.. all that is needed is.....just simple childlike Faith......to believe and recieive that free gift God gave us.......that is all that is required..

Thier will come a time when the true evangel will be spoken boldly with all the miracles following. people still will not believe and they will finally be killed. Yahweh is merciful and just though even though 99% of the lets say decieved ones in preaching a hell and brimstone doctrine of torture will be the ones judged the hardest. The ones who which will be many will give up because of this yahweh knows and they or many will still inherit eternal life but it depends on how compassionate a caring they were in thier lifetime.
