You know maybe this is my problem...I try and put the people that I care about or want to get to know ahead of me....maybe I should put myself first and the heck with everyone else... You couldn't be self-absorbed and cold like that if you tried ... I can tell by your comments here that you have a great heart - don't change a thing!

Thanks to the OP for this topic -- it's been comforting to read that there are others who share the same thoughts and feelings about what it takes to make love work. It can be disheartening to hear the same excuses over and over and over, but the comments of the posters here have restored my faith just a little ... so to all of you - and to finding love, despite the obstacles!

You are right, Lemondrop. While helping a friend of mine decorate his new house, I was amazed at how specific and unwavering he was about every little detail. Despite his claims of wanting to get married soon, he was building a very custom life...for one. (It's quite the bachelor pad!!) I asked what would happen if he finds someone to love. How would she fit in to his perfectly ordered world? His answer....she'll have to get rid of all her stuff! 
He'll be the next guy starting a 'where are all the good women gone' thread *sad chuckle* ... |

IMO, to question her parenting skills, or her lack of love/devotion to her children is the cruelest way to 'punish' a mother, and some men delight in it.
Knowing it's not REALLY about you as a Mom, but rather about their anger towards you and the situation doesn't make it hurt any less when it happens, however, does it?! I'm sorry you've been going through it for so long -- my heart goes out to you, it really does. |

I'm glad they all live so far away. It gives me a chance to describe to these lovely little honey's my 6 pack abs and my long blonde hair in a ponytail and my beautiful smile and how well I dance. Of course when they meet me they realize I have 12 pack beer gut,damn near bald with three teeth and I look like I'm having a seizure when I dance. I love long distance! I think you should change your username to Fabio ... it's so much more fitting for you, MBD!
