My boyfriend came home on his lunch break looking grave, and when I asked what was wrong, he just handed me the huge packed of information the company gave him, starting with "I regretfully advise you that your employment with ********* will terminate effective March 14, 2008...."
I am 20 and he is 25... he has worked with the company for over 2 years and he LOVES it. His job is his favorite thing ever. Hes a tech engineer and designs and builds computer type stuff. Hes the youngest in his department and the only one not married or with a family, so its understandable that he is the expendable one... but he is so destroyed. He is a saver and a planner. He has worked so hard for that position... I just feel so bad for him. I work 2 part time jobs and ill be able to pay the rent for both of us. I lost the best job ive ever had on dec 30th last year, and he was supportive and he carried everything until I found work again. I will gladly do whatever I can to help him... but it feels like the foundation of his world falling apart. He is 25, made VERY good money... saving to buy a house. It was like his life was beginning. It must hurt his pride as well... because I know he felt good being able to provide for me. He just took me shopping spontaneously last week. Im going to try so hard to be supportive.... but I just feel so much empathy for him. Its heart-wrenching. How can I show him support? |
