An online relationship. Not sure what you mean by that. I assume you mean a long distance relationship with someone, and you keep in contact online. I agree you need to both have complete trust in each other when living far apart. I also think you need to be very careful, you need to learn a lot about each other before arranging to meet up when you need to travel a long distance, and not be rushed.

A few years back there was a live chat facility on here between members, but it didn't last very long. I believe there were some technical issues and it stopped temporarily which became permanent. I never used it but I think it was popular, it may have been a victim of its own success.

Have you thought about marriage counselling, if you are only separated it may be a way forward, depends what you both want. If it is an irreconcilable breakdown of your marriage, it may be still worthwhile you alone speaking with a marriage/relationship counsellor for advice on your situation and because of your child, it is unlikely you will be the first to find themselves in a similar situation, they should be able to advise you.

I believe western women whom have become much more independent in many respects since the 1950s, would need to carefully consider forming a relationship with men from countries and societies where women are expected to adopt a subservient role in marriage.

Anything is possible, and considering both need to give much more thought to marriage than most couples of the same ethnicity and faith, there may well be a much stronger and long lasting marriage. The couple may face family rejection if they are not both of the same faith, requiring one to convert to the other partners faith, and embrace the culture if they are not of the same ethnicity. The couple may have to make many compromises and possible life style changes, they need to think everything through very carefully in my opinion.
