Topic: NO information on the profile | |
---|---|
I do not understand why people go through the trouble of creating a profile and not giving any information on it, just using the handy verbiage: I'll tell you later." If you are seriously searching for a relationship, put some thought into it. I, for one, think of a person who cannot be bothered with giving a little information, so that a potential partner, can decide on whether to contact you or not. Is this the effort you would put into that relationship? Be it a friend, companion, or lover.
Just saying. |

It's the internet. A lot of people aren't who they claim to be.

It's nothing to be worried about in my opinion, when you meet someone in the real world and ask for a date, how much do you know about them. It's not until you start chatting that you learn about each other, so think of it as the same when there is little information in their profile. I do agree with you though, it is much better when a profile does give some more information, and can provide an icebreaker when you contact them if you have something in common to mention.

Well, IMHO if a person cannot even fill out the basic details, they are not that interested in finding someone. I mean, what is wrong with letting someone know if they are single/divorced, of if they have children? Dating is kind of like a job application - you wouldn't leave that blank, would you?
What I find most amazing is the many posts I see where the person just writes "no fakes" whilst clearly either using a mass of filters or a really old photo of themselves... |

Sometimes silence talks more than a 1000 words.

I’m on the fence about this. I enjoy writing witty/weird/wordy stuff about who I am and what I want. I agree that internet dating is alot like a job interview where your profile is your resume. Unfortunately most people don’t seem to bother reading what I’ve written (or have chosen to ignore my preferences and still try to negotiate a ONS ). So is it worth making an effort in completing a profile that people won’t really pay attention to? Personal preference is for some info on a profile to get a sense of who this person is. If you saw someone at a bar, you would have certain signals that would draw your attention: body language, the their voice, eye contact, etc. An empty profile is akin to that creepy guy lurking in the darkened corner.
