Socrates gave a seemingly convincing answer to this old question.
In such a heartbreaking scenario, my instinct would be to save my child first, as their young age and vulnerability would likely make them more at risk in the water. However, I would also consider the possibility of quickly rescuing my wife and then returning for our child if time allows. Ultimately, the decision would be made in the heat of the moment, with the goal of saving as many lives as possible. This is a very improbable event, and your answer is correct in my opinion you would do your upmost to save both in this situation. However, I would rescue my wife first. I believe their are different kinds of love and consequently different strengths of love in my opinion, therefore it is capable of being quantified in my opinion, and this in my answer to the OP. This is only my belief. Thanks for your reply to a seemingly impossible question. |

Here is a question for you, imagine yourself in this situation.
Socrates gave a seemingly convincing answer to this old question.
You, your wife and only child are on holiday, there is an accident while taking a sailing trip together and your wife and child fall in to the water very close to a waterfall and neither of them can swim. You are a very strong swimmer but immediately realise there is only time to save one of them, which one do you save? ![]() My answer is the same as the ancient Greek philosopher's, search for it on the web. I am not really interested in philosophizing or philosophers, free thinking is much better in my opinion. |

Dear Furious, thanks for taking your time to ask this loving question.
Love has no measurements so therefore "Love" and "Feelings" has no limit because when one man thinks he loves a woman better, another can love her best. Another name for love is God. God can't be measured in all things. Human feelings are complimented with adverbs and adjective. Love Is Love Fake love is measured with the "Fake" Real love is not measured with real because it takes forever to be real My pleasure and I appreciate you taking your time to speak your heart out. Do you have an answer to my question? Here is a question for you, imagine yourself in this situation. Yes, there is. From what I've read and you can google it too. There are different levels of love. But I don't remember the different names of each. Start with GOD's Love, that's the highest. Then there Parental love. Self love, love for humanity and life, love of significant other. Look it up. I believe you are right. |
