quite into audio books, especially while doing something like painting.

This is a link to one of my all time favorite books. Well read too.

Star maker By Olaf stapledon, an English philosopher. Written in 1937, some of the cosmology is a tiny bit dated, But this book fired the imagination of sci fi's greatest writers.
In my opinion a true masterwork, and a must read (or in this case listen to )
book. Chapter 1 starts at about 12 minutes.

Anyone got any audio books that are worth a listen?

I had my left kidney swell to the size of a boxing glove, go septic and then perforate like a teabag.

that hurt. Morphine did nothing for the pain.

lost 5 days completely. Bit close for comfort that one.

You get through it. You've no choice. Like River says. You accept that it's going to be there a while and don't focus on it.

I admit to getting quite exited about metric units of measurement myself.
I'm only going for the centimeters at the moment, but those meters look pretty tempting at times.

Careful m8 you'll end up going the whole 9 yards someday.

Yes they do seem to be orthogonal at times.Often obtuse but if you can get the
vertex's to coincide then a Rhombus is probably the best you can hope for. You'll never get rid of the oblique angles. That's just the way it is.

I'd hunt down offensive or inappropriate comments/topics.

Space cadet, Peter M, Crystal. I couldn't agree more with your views on this.

And movies have suffered the same fate as writing.

And have become increasingly formulaic.

I read about a book every week, sometimes 2.. have done for many years.

I think that an author knows as much and as little about love as the reader.
And attempts to put it into words.

And sitting watching a sunset for half an hour with your love feels great but doesn't come out in words very well, unless spiced up for the reader.
He/she is further constrained by literary devices that are popular at the time. if he/she wants to sell many books.
