Confusion is the heart of stability
Stability is the heart and soul of insanity
It's going, it's going, what's going's got you gone
There ain't nothing' here so move along
When it rains it pours, it pours, it rains insanely
Logic is the strength of the truth,,, but the pain sees it all

-unknown-

I'm generally depressed; but this is darker than depressing

If this poem has nothing to do with politics, correct me if I'm wrong; then it sounds more like the tragedy of life.., a circle shrinking, to the point of extinction

--xx--
An antidote to a shrinking circle can only be a dilating spiral

somebody sang it out: The Goddess and the Weaver - a link:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_zhZeRNfSg

warning: it's a pagan song
and the truth cannot be easily warded off: "the pain sees it all"

Another great topic Techno..

Bravery oozes from the pores of all who dare enter,
this oven-like torture chamber of enlightenment.

This captures students all over the world, fresh minds, not indoctrinated. The feelings penned in reminder of poem, i think, has a broad base of truth. High schools may actually be reversing innovative nature and development.

Alternate Scenario would be:
Suppose we agree (governments) that most of high school is thoroughly useless for life; and so stop.

For the majority of students - in math - we know that except for compound interest, statistics, some economics and an intro to Calculus - anything beyond will not be used. Anything advanced can be reserved for professional courses in college therefore done away with.

Fresh recipes of discovery, are being cooked-up within.
A pinch of sociology, a dash of economics, a few pounds of history,
all chucked in the bubbling cauldron.

"pounds of history" v.important. I wonder why you left out the joys in language, literature and geography. (The poem is incomplete without these)

So in this alternate scenario, teens are freed to learn from YouTube and at their own pace - syllabi of their choice - with some appropriate counseling.

For group activities like tests, workshop time, sports and dancing - they pay; subsidized a little by taxpayers moneys. After all if at 16 they are eligible for DL, vote by 18, (and become mothers and fathers if they so desire - no sarcasm intended - just freedom and transparency to live as they please) then why not?

In effect, high school time would reduce to 6 months in a year and they get a diploma for attending these 6 months. Board exams only if they want to attend college.

In this scenario the questions are: Is it too much responsibility thrust at 16 and things like, would college admissions drop; etc.

I know it's just a poem - but it's worth bending our minds on.

To infinity and beyond..Space the final frontier..to screw up..smile2

Without reading more on it, here's my guess...

The space race of the 1960s spurred a technological explosion. Thus in the '70s and '80s scientific and technological research had become a mainstay of the space program, but after the moon landings, it lacked a clear goal.

I think Trump simply wants to bring us back to that technology boom by giving NASA a clear directive again.

So it's not so much about aliens or planets or expanding out into space. It's about providing impetus to create new technologies, and thereby new jobs and industries.

Very good point. Perhaps we're not quite ready to invade space just yet, but pushing to land on Mars may not be exactly about getting us on Mars, but what technology will come of it.

SpaceX Mission Statement:

“SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not.

Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.”

Why would Elton Musk, the PayPal founder and therefore an astute banker not consider fulfilling needs of people on earth as opposed to wanting to go to Mars?

The short answer is there is no end to needs; fill one, then a second one crops up.

So also with want but there's a big difference

When one needs bread to survive - (of course); but he fights his way in life

When one wants to become rich; he will die happily trying

Unfortunately 'want' has received a bad label by those in need.

The unfortunate thing is most of us were swayed by 'needs' from early life. (and to my eternal regret)

I thought I was just dreaming. When my mom called my name, I awoke. She said she thought I was dead, I had not moved in 30 mins, not even a breath. I still think it was just a dream, though I don't remember what it was about.

To Thazager,
Just curious; when was this, the circumstances and how do you know about not moving in 30 minutes.

Your story (minus accident) sounds similar to Nitin's. He was in an accident, not expected to survive due to heavy blood loss.

https://medium.com/s/near-death-experiences/i-was-visited-by-a-vision-of-a-familiar-stranger-d8c118c5f5f0

The link is attached to an NDE forum and below is the last half of what Nitin wrote (a 1 minute read)

I Was Visited by a Vision of a Familiar Stranger

When I opened my eyes again, a summer breeze was flowing across my face. I looked up and found an old lady sitting beside me, staring at my face, wearing the friendliest smile I had ever seen. I was lying on a cool patch of ground and I could see the crashed car across the road.

Was the lady in that van? I tried to remember. I couldn’t tell.

I tried to say something. But only empty air came out of my mouth. I saw her expression changing to that of sympathy and concern. She raised her hand and placed it on my shoulder, indicating that I should stop trying.

Looking at her face above my head, blocking out the sun, I remembered a time in my childhood when I used to visit my grandmother’s house. In front of the porch, there was a mango tree. It was as big and lush as one can get. I would go out and lie on the ground beneath it for hours. It was very tranquil there.

Lying on the ground beside this woman, I was filled with the same feeling.

Then, suddenly, she got up. She lifted her right hand, as if she was saying goodbye. I raised my right hand, to hold her leg, to stop her from going. But a gush of pain stopped me in my tracks. It was my fractured hand. And then everything came back; the feeling of being trapped, the choking air, the heat. The sky burst into a blinding white light and I closed my eyes as tight as possible.

And then, I realized, I was back inside the car.

I heard a piercing noise from far far away. I couldn’t tell what it was. But it was shrill and repeating itself again and again. Every second it was becoming louder and clearer. It was coming nearer to me. In that noise, my head started throbbing with pain. I couldn’t take it anymore. I felt like dying, and I passed out again.

There was a whirring sound of an air conditioner above. I could smell the hospital air: sanitized bottles and extra-bleached bedsheets. I opened my eyes and saw people surrounding me. I couldn’t make out who was who. The visibility wasn’t clear. It was like looking through a frosted glass, only shapes and sizes, with faint hue of colors.

I heard them saying that I was lucky to have survived. I had lost a lot of blood. And locked up inside the car, with heat and fumes filling it every second, they wouldn’t have given me a chance in a million. But somehow I survived. And luckily, an ambulance had gone down that road. Another miracle.

“Something gave him hope in those moments,” they were saying, “something that made him hang on.”

Listening to them, I remembered that old lady. I could still feel her fresh breath on me. Her face blocking the sun like that tree outside my grandmother’s house, calm and peaceful. I felt like sleeping again—this time due to medication. I had a feeling it would be a deep sleep.

I saw the shapes and sizes disappearing. The black curtain of sleep fell over my eyes. I closed my eyes and I felt my consciousness slipping away. But even in that state of receding consciousness, I couldn't forget the face of that old lady smiling at me. Whispering a silent thanks to her, I went into a deep sleep.

-- Nitin Dangwal

as we can see, this joker can write and that's the real problem in recording it as evidence; the exaggerations.

Her face was familiar. Not that I had seen her before. But she had that kind of face you see in TV commercials for life insurance. A face that would inspire confidence. A face that always wears a smile.

It's this tendency to come out of NDE laughing that makes it all the more difficult to accept as evidence.

.

Add to this, he's an Indian. I'm beginning to think that given a tough situation many people (Indians) slip into a trance.

Or some part of our everyday life is in a trance. So when one is dying it is convenient to go into it. (Dopamine gets released) Then when jerked back to life, we think it as some form of astral projection.

Hi MK2,

I know it takes a lot more courage to ask a personal question but I think a clarification would help.

What to do if your wife continuously ignores your sexual desires even after giving birth to children

Does it mean that the childbirth phase is over? (medically)

If NO, then the answer is obvious.

If YES, then the most logical answer seems to be 'depressed'.
(The question made me realize that we men pamper our children and overlook their mother - in terms of her changed needs.

Listen to her - as explained by Blondey and Rock
)

--xxx--

On the positive side, its generally men who lose interest for a time after childbirth. I would have added "consider yourself lucky"; but the matter is too serious.

All the best

"Am I worthy"

a fine hook - worth mailing to someone you are interested in, provided ...

..change the photos... Especially the one with your tongue sticking out... it's not attractive!

May be switching the picture for the one with tree, in Main will do.

There's not much about you. Lines like "why rush threw" and 'shooting the breeze' indicate a level of honesty, or carelessness depending on who's reading.

I think if you want someone you need to strategize. (wish I had thought of this 10 years ago)

A story retold on the net

One day consciousness found a way to fall asleep and dream. Within this dream it realized it could create and control anything which it wanted. It also added into its dream a period or time frame of 75 years. Even it realized it could split itself into more than 1 object and/or entity at any given time.

After aeons of fun dreaming up pleasures constantly knowing and understanding everything, it decided to add a few random events of unknown happenings, Just to spice things up. More and more it added random events of information, similar to picking random numbers from a hat.

And so like a junky is dependent upon a substance, consciousness was dependent on the unknown which made its appetite grow even more. A few more aeons past until something completely astonishing happened. Consciousness forgot it was asleep. Wake up dude, wake up.

Another pic on Layout of Solar Plant on moon by JAXA

Panels have to cover entire equator for day & night supply. May take 50 years. Meantime JAXA has a pilot plant for space.

The Moon, is merely a small, very small source for solar power.
With our advancements in efficiency, we won't NEED to tap the Moon's reflective energy but we will certainly be able to.

Tom, I believe the label “Lunar Solar Cells” on the picture is the reason for the above comment. The fact is the picture shows JAXA's plan for solar panels installed across the equator of the moon. (No, not moonshine)

Right now, we are shackled to fossil fuels because to maintain our standards we need surplus fossil fuels to assure our power in the future.

Agreed. Larger countries (say Australia, Canada..) may have the reserves to wait. Smaller countries (say Japan) are already at risk. The fact that US is already tapping into Alaska (in our lifetimes) says a lot about where we already are. (In Texas it is fracking and ...

the fundamental economics of fracking is based on the first 12 months, after that the output of shale wells starts declining at a fast clip, requiring companies to drill more and more wells if they are going to keep up production.

Investor David Einhorn says “a business that burns cash and doesn’t grow isn’t worth anything.”

But, if we have real-time energy available at all times then we don't need to stockpile resources to maintain our ability to power our world...

Nothing wrong about being optimistic about fuel efficiencies and technology advancement but it appears that we may be diminishing the stockpile which was Plan B (at a fast clip).

Gasoline prices have increased 1.5 times in 20 years in US; 2 times in India. May increase by 2 times in next 20 years.

So no doubt on energy shortage being the driver that changes how we live.

Space Missions Most effected because fossil fuel won't go away for launches. At 100 tons of fuel per launch (say around 1000 barrels of crude) plus the space journey: moon and back; add 20 tons by thumb rule (200 barrels). So we have 1000,000 gallons (a nice million) for one ride of 500,000 miles to moon and back.

So if the solar program doesn't kick in within two decades it's likely to be a Catch 22 situation for a few over populous countries. (opinion)

There have been many recent advances in battery storage, solar conversion and motor efficiency.

---
I think we will still drive cars and trucks in 50 years and they might have internal combustion engines but those engines will be for electrical generation not propulsion (thus, they will become smaller and smaller over time). Which means, when charging the batteries idle will be the only time the engine will be needed.

You still need a battery to start the engine but driving down the road, the battery can be disconnected if the alternator is good.

Many of the circuits in a car are low voltage. Its one of the benefits of electronics. In 50 years, that 'load' on the system might be so low, cars may not even be 12V DC systems anymore.

That technology might transfer to the electrical appliances on the grid as well. We can already buy many low voltage items. As time progresses, the higher voltage 'dinosaur' appliances will phase out in favor of lower and lower voltage requirements. We have already seen it in light bulbs.

Imagine highways lined with solar panels, miles upon miles of solar panels.

Then think about the generation.

NASA's plan to return to the moon may have something to do with solar (panel) farm in near future. (Speculation)

a Japanese layout of the farm:

Microwave Generation

To generate microwaves, DC current supplied from a photovoltaic cell can be directed to magnetrons, klystrons, or other vacuum tubes to convert electricity into a microwave. Vacuum tubes use the ballistic motion of electrons under the influence of oscillating magnetic fields to generate microwaves. Candidates for the transmission frequency are therefore 2.45 and 5.8 GHz. The 1 GW commercial space based solar power system JAXA plans to construct would require at least 100 million 10 watt semiconductor amplifiers. [/quote}

It's easy to see JAXA (Japanese Aerospace) drawing energy from moon and selling it.

Microwave Receiver safe location: Kuril Islands

Solar Power from Moon within 50 years? Possible.

The cult like mantras and slogans repeated in the political threads got me thinking about the Hare Krishnas. I know they used to be all over the airports but have been pretty much chased out. I wonder where their stomping grounds are now or if they are strictly an online movement in these modern times. Has anyone seen any lately?

My friend tells me:

Looking back at the List in the second last post
it becomes obvious that apart from population there are 2 other elephants in the room, Food & Energy

Assuming vertical farms and other food related alternatives / inventions
It's the 'fuel elephant' that's biggest and won't budge.

As per BP,at 80 Million Barrels per Day, oil will run out in 50 years
So if there's to be a major tech change - it will be here.
And solar - appears as the only un- diminishing resource.

I am struggling to find my peace of mind
In a world of pain where venom reigns,
Tearing everyone down, destroying renown
On sadistic whim, separating life from limb.
The world around us has gone to rust
From neglect and despair. Is it beyond repair?

Looking from a distant hill,
what I perceive through smoke and shrill
Is that some seeds are about to be busted

Why else hell's fury unfurled
& Venom destroying Renown
In plain sight of distant hills?

For a long time, people lived in La La Land
It is Love that was gone to Rust

For love to exist,
I must cease to exist

Hello rtHane,
I trust this thread will not turn to political projections but since the race divide has been surfaced I have a Darwinian question.

We need only to look at the U.S. Census over the LASTS 50 years...

... Educated picture of what the future holds for some of us and our children's children ..

In 1965 the white population was 90% in America Immigration laws changed to let ALL Countries into the U.S. Also many Social laws changed

In 2010 white Pop. was 67% ...

In 2044 the white Pop. will be 47% ...

In 2065 white pop. will be at 38% ...

The US will have NO Clear Majority race...

By the above trending, in 2085 white pop will be 28%. The question is: Isn't the projected decline in white pop due to transformation / rise in mixed population; rather than immigration?

If so, by 2085; US Census may measure in several new denominations: white, black, colored, chromatic and others. Under this revised set of denominations people like Steve Jobs (Syrian Dad) in future may likely be considered as chromatic (an opinion).

The significant question is, given the same quality of life as present, would children from this mix have a biological advantage over children from rest of world?
