waving It's a bright clear morning, cool but the sun is shinning and no wind. Great way to begin the new year.

Pictures bring back memories of family and friends,
Now those memories are slowly fading away.
The photo album was put back on the shelf,
Now I sit here and stare off into the emptiness.

Life as I see it,

Let me explain to you what I have learned. There is no need to thank me for this valuable information. I'm sharing this information as a public service. If you wish to discuss the subject further and come looking for me you will find me on my front porch. BARKING!

When God created the dog he said,
"Sit all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone who comes in or walks past. For this, I will give you a life span of twenty years." The dog said, "That's a long time to be barking. How about only ten years and I'll give you back the other ten?" And God saw it was good.

When God created the monkey he said,
"Entertain people, do tricks, and make them laugh. For this, I'll give you a twenty-year life span." The monkey said, "Monkey tricks for twenty years? That's a pretty long time to perform. How about I give you back ten like the dog did?" And God, again saw it was good.

When God created the cow he said,
"You must go into the field with the farmer every day, all day long and suffer under the sun, have calves and give milk to support the farmer's family. For this, I will give you a life span of sixty years." The cow said, "That's kind of a tough life you want me to live for sixty years. How about twenty and I'll give back the other forty?" And God agreed it was good.

When God created the human he said,
"Eat, sleep, play, marry and enjoy your life. For this, I'll give you twenty years." But the human said, "Only twenty years? Could you possibly give me my twenty, the forty the cow gave back, the ten the monkey gave back, and the ten the dog gave back, which makes eighty years, okay?" "Okay," said God, "You asked for it."

So that is why we humans,
For the first twenty years of our life, we eat, sleep, play and enjoy ourselves. (human's twenty)
For the next forty years, we slave in the sun to support our family. (cow's forty)
For the next ten years, we do monkey tricks to entertain the grandchildren. (monkey's ten)
And for the last ten years, we sit on the front porch and bark at everyone. (dog's ten)

A couple of years ago I posted the above in another forum. After reviewing the above information, I thought there is some insight and truth to this. We humans spend the first twenty years of our life eating, sleeping, playing and enjoying ourselves, the next forty earning a living, the next ten entertaining the grandchildren, and then we spend the last ten years reminiscing about the good old days while sitting on our porch watching the world with amusement and vocalizing/barking at other people's views and opinions.

The young are full of hopes and dreams; the old have already pursued their hopes and dreams.

for you to join me in great conversation.

Good Morning,
a new year (2015) will soon arrive,
time to say farewell to the old
and applaud the beginning of a new year.

May the new bring you many blessing.

Errors
typo, spelling, punctuation
call it what you may
after the fact, it screams out
that's not correct, it's too late
I must do better, take more time
to proofread before pushing
the button to post

Remembering, this seems to be the season for remeniscing. I placed this photo on my desktop because I wanted to remember when the pages of my life book were still blank. Today, when I look at the world around me it has changed so much or perhaps I am the one changing.

I had a dream when I was a young girl, as most young people do, I wanted to be a good wife and mother, to be responsible and soft spoken. I learned skills necessary to be a homemaker, keep house, cook, bake, sew, garden, and preserve the harvest. I never really had any other dreams, I never thought about being a teacher, nurse, singer, entertainer, traveling around the world or any of the things young people dream of doing.

{A smile tickles my face, I find a bit of humor since the best made plans do not always unfold as we would like.}

I am just a woman
With lines upon my face
Each one tells a story
Of life, of love, of grace...

Lovely poem, I have always looked forward to reading your poetry, it's been awhile.

Leigh, Happy Holidays, and may you have a blessed New Year.

A lazy afternoon, with parchment and pen -and a book on the banks of a brook under sycamore trees. A writer's haven...

Awesome, your style of writing is in a league all of it's own. What a wonderful setting along the shores of a brook under a sycamore tree and the freedom to explore within yourself!

Viv, is good, just some things that come with age, like most of us.
 That is good to hear. Thanks for keeping us informed.

If anyone talks to her let her know she is missed. The forums are just not the same.

Happy Holidays to you all!

Late dawn. Early sunset. Short day. Long night. It's a time to celebrate!

For us here in the Northern Hemisphere, the December solstice marks the lonest night and shortest day of the year.

'Good Will Hunting' I personally have watched the movie several times. It's a great movie.

Tommy your poetry has always spoke with intellectual volume, soundly sad but searching from within.

In this movie Matt Damon and Robin Williams experience deep emotional feelings from the heart which is not understood by the masses so they are guarded so as to protect themselves.

When they are finally able to look within and find peace with themselves; they find the freedom to experiences love.

Charles Bukowski has been an interesting study, I believe he was able to capture the essence of people living for the moment with no interest or self-motivation

so you want to be a writer?
Charles Bukowski, 1920 - 1994
if it doesn't come bursting out of you
in spite of everything,
don't do it.
unless it comes unasked out of your
heart and your mind and your mouth
and your gut,
don't do it.
if you have to sit for hours
staring at your computer screen
or hunched over your
typewriter
searching for words,
don't do it.
if you're doing it for money or
fame,
don't do it.
if you're doing it because you want
women in your bed,
don't do it.
if you have to sit there and
rewrite it again and again,
don't do it.
if it's hard work just thinking about doing it,
don't do it.

if you're trying to write like somebody
else,
forget about it.

if you have to wait for it to roar out of
you,
then wait patiently.
if it never does roar out of you,
do something else.

if you first have to read it to your wife
or your girlfriend or your boyfriend
or your parents or to anybody at all,
you're not ready.

don't be like so many writers,
don't be like so many thousands of
people who call themselves writers,
don't be dull and boring and
pretentious, don't be consumed with self-
love.
the libraries of the world have
yawned themselves to
sleep
over your kind.
don't add to that.
don't do it.
unless it comes out of
your soul like a rocket,
unless being still would
drive you to madness or
suicide or murder,
don't do it.
unless the sun inside you is
burning your gut,
don't do it.

when it is truly time,
and if you have been chosen,
it will do it by
itself and it will keep on doing it
until you die or it dies in you.

there is no other way.

and there never was.
