Life as I see it,
Let me explain to you what I have learned. There is no need to thank me for this valuable information. I'm sharing this information as a public service. If you wish to discuss the subject further and come looking for me you will find me on my front porch. BARKING! When God created the dog he said, "Sit all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone who comes in or walks past. For this, I will give you a life span of twenty years." The dog said, "That's a long time to be barking. How about only ten years and I'll give you back the other ten?" And God saw it was good. When God created the monkey he said, "Entertain people, do tricks, and make them laugh. For this, I'll give you a twenty-year life span." The monkey said, "Monkey tricks for twenty years? That's a pretty long time to perform. How about I give you back ten like the dog did?" And God, again saw it was good. When God created the cow he said, "You must go into the field with the farmer every day, all day long and suffer under the sun, have calves and give milk to support the farmer's family. For this, I will give you a life span of sixty years." The cow said, "That's kind of a tough life you want me to live for sixty years. How about twenty and I'll give back the other forty?" And God agreed it was good. When God created the human he said, "Eat, sleep, play, marry and enjoy your life. For this, I'll give you twenty years." But the human said, "Only twenty years? Could you possibly give me my twenty, the forty the cow gave back, the ten the monkey gave back, and the ten the dog gave back, which makes eighty years, okay?" "Okay," said God, "You asked for it." So that is why we humans, For the first twenty years of our life, we eat, sleep, play and enjoy ourselves. (human's twenty) For the next forty years, we slave in the sun to support our family. (cow's forty) For the next ten years, we do monkey tricks to entertain the grandchildren. (monkey's ten) And for the last ten years, we sit on the front porch and bark at everyone. (dog's ten) A couple of years ago I posted the above in another forum. After reviewing the above information, I thought there is some insight and truth to this. We humans spend the first twenty years of our life eating, sleeping, playing and enjoying ourselves, the next forty earning a living, the next ten entertaining the grandchildren, and then we spend the last ten years reminiscing about the good old days while sitting on our porch watching the world with amusement and vocalizing/barking at other people's views and opinions. The young are full of hopes and dreams; the old have already pursued their hopes and dreams. |

When life is getting you down,
And you need a little hope. Look deep down inside yourself, And you'll find the way to cope. When life is getting you down, And you need a little love. Go to the person whom you are the closest, As the rest they are above. When life is getting you down, And all you need is a laugh. Find the friend that makes you smile, They may even be your staff. When life is getting you down, Don't allow it so. Change the way you think of life, And life will be better, you know. When life is getting you down, Take time to pray Don't allow yourself to frown God will help you see the good in the day. "Whoever falls from God's right hand, Is Caught Into His Left." :-) [Edwin Markham] |
