I took a look at that thread, Allen. It reminded me of the verse of I send you as sheep among wolves. If I couldn't take my scriptures with me so speak then I wouldn't feel welcomed. I love the scriptures as they have helped me greatly. To dis my scriptures would be to dis me. I wouldn't want to venture out without be spiritually fit. As Romans says to take on the whole armor of God. To me it would be saying I like cats but I don't like their claws.laugh

Where did the name Palestine come from?

The name Palestine refers to a region of the eastern Mediterranean coast from the sea to the Jordan valley and from the southern Negev desert to the Galilee lake region in the north. The word itself derives from "Plesheth", a name that appears frequently in the Bible and has come into English as "Philistine". Plesheth, (root palash) was a general term meaning rolling or migratory. This referred to the Philistine's invasion and conquest of the coast from the sea. The Philistines were not Arabs nor even Semites, they were most closely related to the Greeks originating from Asia Minor and Greek localities. They did not speak Arabic. They had no connection, ethnic, linguistic or historical with Arabia or Arabs.

The Philistines reached the southern coast of Israel in several waves. One group arrived in the pre-patriarchal period and settled south of Beersheba in Gerar where they came into conflict with Abraham, Isaac and Ishmael. Another group, coming from Crete after being repulsed from an attempted invasion of Egypt by Rameses III in 1194 BCE, seized the southern coastal area, where they founded five settlements (Gaza, Ascalon, Ashdod, Ekron and Gat). In the Persian and Greek periods, foreign settlers - chiefly from the Mediterranean islands - overran the Philistine districts.

From the fifth century BC, following the historian Herodotus, Greeks called the eastern coast of the Mediterranean "the Philistine Syria" using the Greek language form of the name. In AD 135, after putting down the Bar Kochba revolt, the second major Jewish revolt against Rome, the Emperor Hadrian wanted to blot out the name of the Roman "Provincia Judaea" and so renamed it "Provincia Syria Palaestina", the Latin version of the Greek name and the first use of the name as an administrative unit. The name "Provincia Syria Palaestina" was later shortened to Palaestina, from which the modern, anglicized "Palestine" is derived.

To the believers, how many times have you actually prayed and whatever it was you were praying for happened?

To me, if prayer worked, don't you think that people with cancer would be healed? Suffering children wouldn't suffer?

Discuss!

I don't want bible verses thrown about in this thread. I want this to be strictly YOUR views.

My apologies. Yes I have had prayers answered many times. I have needed a job, prayed and got one; I saw my daughter get healed before my eyes when she was a child and had broken her nose; I have prayed for forgiveness and peace and felt a peace like never before; but I cannot prove any of these things. Neither can I prove there is wind. We only see the results of it. I will not bother you any more since you say you will always be a non-believer. That may not be a prayer, but I can assure you that God will honor it if that is your choice.

Very well put newwidowjim. I also have had many of my prayers answered. It is called faith for a reason.

Our earthly bodies are only temporary, we pass from this life eventually.

I think a mistake we can make is when we think of healing in a physical sense, or only involving the person we are praying for. There is also spiritual healing. I had a friend who lost her husband to cancer. During this time, there were many instances of healing, broken relationships between father and daughter mended, new and deeper bonds made. Sometimes we need to look at the bigger picture.

My Place in This World -

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-fIMzFgbYOY&feature=related

Words: michael w. smith and wayne kirkpatrick
Music: michael w. smith

The wind is moving
But I am standing still
A life of pages
Waiting to be filled
A heart thats hopeful
A head thats full of dreams
But this becoming
Is harder than it seems
Feels like im
Chorus:
Looking for a reason
Roaming through the night to find
My place in this world
My place in this world
Not a lot to lean on
I need your light to help me find
My place in this world
My place in this world

If there are millions
Down on their knees
Among the many
Can you still hear me
Hear me asking
Where do I belong
Is there a vision
That I can call my own
Show me im

Chorus

My resolution was made as a result of prayers for deliverance from the coming ecomomic and political storms of 2009. In Nov-Dec I recieved the guidance I sought. It was not to hoard food or buy more guns. It was simply to "Seek ye the Kingdom". The kingdom I seek is not one of violence, hate and chaos, but one of peace, forgiveness and order. Happy New Year.

Thank you Lord for waking me up! I was about to run off and get married to someone I don't even know WOW. That's how much I THINK I need a man. When all I really need is JESUS!!!

That is true.

Turn your Eyes Upon Jesus

O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There’s light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free!
Refrain:
Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.
Through death into life everlasting
He passed, and we follow Him there;
O’er us sin no more hath dominion—
For more than conquerors we are!
His Word shall not fail you—He promised;
Believe Him, and all will be well:
Then go to a world that is dying,
His perfect salvation to tell!

God bless you with many joys this coming Year!

In Christ alone my hope is found;
He is my light, my strength, my song;
This cornerstone, this solid ground,
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace,
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease!
My comforter, my all in all—
Here in the love of Christ I stand.

In Christ alone, Who took on flesh,
Fullness of God in helpless babe!
This gift of love and righteousness,
Scorned by the ones He came to save.
Till on that cross as Jesus died,
The wrath of God was satisfied;
For ev'ry sin on Him was laid—
Here in the death of Christ I live.

There in the ground His body lay,
Light of the world by darkness slain;
Then bursting forth in glorious day,
Up from the grave He rose again!
And as He stands in victory,
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me;
For I am His and He is mine—
Bought with the precious blood of Christ.

No guilt in life, no fear in death—
This is the pow'r of Christ in me;
From life's first cry to final breath,
Jesus commands my destiny.
No pow'r of hell, no scheme of man,
Can ever pluck me from His hand;
Till He returns or calls me home—
Here in the pow'r of Christ I'll stand.

I love this hymn. It tells of everything Christ has done for us and how we have to do nothing! What a wonderful Savior we have!

I was listening to this on the radio on the way to work.

Heavenly Father,
We come before you in the Name of Jesus, thanking you for your goodness to us. Thank you Lord that we can come boldly to Your throne of grace to obtain grace and mercy in our time of need. I lift up mommyof1 to you today, and ask for you to strengthen and encourage her. That she would receive the comfort and love that only You can give. Your Word tells us to be anxious for nothing, but in all things with prayer and petition, with thanksgiving in our hearts to present our requests to you. Then the peace of God that passes all understanding will guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. We lift the petitions named above to you, thanking You that You supply all her needs according to Your riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Thank you that you stick closer than a brother and that you will never leave her nor forsake her. Thank you for surrounding her with friends who care. In the Name of Jesus. Amen.

Praying in AGREEMENT and BELIEVING for a TURN AROUND in Mommy's life!!!

As we draw nigh to God, God draws nigh unto us!!!

Believing God is moving in Mommy's life...

and every need is being supplied...

in Jesus Awesome Name..Amen!!!
