To the believers, how many times have you actually prayed and whatever it was you were praying for happened?
To me, if prayer worked, don't you think that people with cancer would be healed? Suffering children wouldn't suffer? Discuss! I don't want bible verses thrown about in this thread. I want this to be strictly YOUR views. |

i believe prayer does work....you cant just pray for no cancer or for no hungry children....it doesnt work like that!!!!!
say there is someone who is homeless and hungry....and he prays to GOD for a little something to fill his belly......a basket of food will not just magically appear but he may however find a fishing pole on the bank of a river and it is up to him to catch a fish to eat!!!!! GOD gives us the means to make our prayers become answered!!! |

(you dont have to belive that) |

That god didn't want this families prayers answered? And please explain that GOD gives us the means to do so. So the homeless man finds a fishing pole, and that was gods work? |

Sometimes the answer to an unmet prayer is no...God wants communion and a relationship with us but he's not a genie in a lamp.
He works in mysterious ways, above and beyond our reckoning. To those that reason he wouldn't let babies die or let bad things happen to good people, you should realize that he's much more concerned with our everlasting souls than with our physical bodies, which are only vessels. Bad things happen to good people but he gives us trials and tribulations along with the free will to do good and to help and comfort each other. |

I believe He listens to every prayer I make and does allow them to happen. I do not make petty prayers, every night, either though. To me, God does not heal or stop suffering all on His own. To me, I believe He can instill strength and hope into someone/people. Yet, in order for God to come and heal He must be welcomed in your house or heart. God can not work without one's faith in Him. |

I just recently lost my wife to cancer. We believed that God could heal her but she passed away. Now I could shake my fist at God and scream WHY?! but that would probably do nothing more than echo back to me. If you look at a picture of something taken from an airplane and then compare it to a picture of the earth taken from outer space, you begin to see how God sees things. We use our senses to evaluate what is going on around our own lives. God sees the entire picture, not just us. Who am I to argue with what was best for my wife? As one person said, bad things happen to good people. To begin to understand any of this you must first be willing to acknowledge God for what he is, all powerful, and turn your life over to him no matter what comes your way. His main concern, as someone stated, is for the salvation of our souls so that one day we may be with Him. That is why we were created in the first place. He wants our love, friendship, and trust just as we do with each other. I hope this helps.

Ok, thanks for the words, but I am still not getting the answer I was hoping for. Hmmm
Still no proof that prayer works? I am a non believer and will always be that way, I am just curious. |

If you can't answer the question, then why bother?

If you can't answer the question, then why bother? I did answer...If you don't want the answer, why bother asking? What exactly is the point of your question if you've already hardened your heart against God and don't believe there is an answer? |
