The reason for the season. For me, the reason for the season is more about my friends and family than it is about either Jesus or Santa. Not saying that anyone else can't have whatever reasons they want. Just that those are mine. I really love the friends and family that I spend the holidays with and I'm happy that I have them (botht the friends and the holidays). Being able to spend time with those people makes me happier. And I think that's a good thing.  And I hope you have a wonderful time enjoying the company of family and friends and sharing and making happy memories. You mentioned 'time' and that is one of the best gifts you can give to another.

Why are witches (or others involved in the occult by whatever name) viewed up so much more harshly than other "sinners". Why do many Christians (please note, I said "many" and not "all") hold these people in greater contempt than someone who is having sex outside of marriage? Or who is gay? This is not a Christian bashing thread. I would appreciate all responses to be respectful. But, this has been my experience with Christians and I am wondering why. What is it about my being a witch that causes such a reaction from Christians? I do not really know because I have not personally known Christians that are like that. If I had, I may well have questioned them as to why. I am aware that some people who are very religious can be judgemental, but then I have found that those without any faith to be the harshest and most judgemental to others. |

SILENT NIGHT 2002 SILENT NIGHT is based on a true story about a young mother (Linda Hamilton) and son who find shelter in a cabin in Germany on Christmas Eve of 1944. However, soon she finds that three German soldiers and three American soldiers also need a place to spend the night, and she manages to forge a temporary peace between the opposing soldiers to enjoy a peaceful Christmas eve dinner. --- I saw this movie last evening, although I did not get to see it from the beginning it was a though provoking movie and very well played out. Linda played a great role as the brave young movie living a life of hope in spite of the cruelty of the Nazi regime. This morning when the pastor at church made a reference about 'when hope and fear collides' it bought this movie back to mind. Indeed, it certainly did give a very clear image of hope and fear; the hope displayed by the young mom and the fear as the soldiers from opposing sides clash, but slowly through the bravery and boldness of 'Elizabeth' the solder's defences are laid aside as they get to know one another over a simple Christmas eve meal.

How do handle these situations? 1. No, to both of the first two questions. She waits for me to mention it first and has done that through my adult life. She is happy I have found someone special. I have always thought that people who are "angry at god" are silly. They need to be angry at who is REALLY to blame: humans. Thats the position that most angry Atheists take. They dont believe in god so they dont level any blame on that. They point the finger directly at those who choose to believe in god and kill, torture, imprison and abuse in his name. Then it is time for them to stop blaming innocent Christians, who do not do that and have no part in it. They seem to raise very little protest when it is people of other religions that do the same kind of atrocities. |

And there is nothing wrong with sharing that opinion. I like the pic - and the santa hat. I have noticed you have offered some pretty sound advice and thinking in many of your posts. I have not personally experienced that kind of teaching so I don't know to what degree it exists. I consider myself simply a believer rather than belonging to a particular denomination. So through my faith I have a strong belief that I am responsible for the choices I make and for my 'Christian walk'. I find that to be true from friends and others that I have met through the years, who have other 'faith-based' or religious beliefs than myself. I wish you a very Happy Holiday. |
