It boils down to what people WANT to have faith in. Some people have no faith that we even landed on the moon. They think it's a conspiracy. No matter how much proof they are shown, they refuse to accept the fact that we have been to the moon.

Same concept here as with the bible, it's what people want to believe and use their free will on what they actually do believe in.

even believers will claim that all the bible should not be taken literal....that in itself is a lack of faith and place the believers in the same realm as non-believers

Yes some churches teach that but I haven't heard it in a long time. I enjoy a church that teaches Discipleship. Seek and save the lost. If you stick to what Jesus says you'll be fine. Many different churches out there as long as you stick to a bible based church your in the right placeflowerforyou

"Seek and save the lost"

That's the problem...having a religion is all fine but pushing your faith onto others is wrong. These door-to-door snakeoil salesmen that show up at my door get an earful...they usually walk off when I offer to prove to them that Hitler was one of them, who used the same method to rally his Thumpers to empower him into a war that killed 57 million people.

Not to mention that this complex has a No Solicitating policy yet these Thumpers will break our laws to push their drug...I now just usually get their card or info then report them and try to get them fined for breaking the law...bummer that so far the management here are religious so they do nothing about these trespassers.

Wait, you guys have a thing about trespassing right?, so you break you own laws? Funny...

Oh I guess the church didn't inform their flock of this...oops.

"Oldest Skeleton of Human Ancestor FoundJamie Shreeve
Science editor, National Geographic magazineOctober 1, 2009"

Move over, Lucy. And kiss the missing link goodbye

"The Ardipithecus ramidus fossils were discovered in Ethiopia's harsh Afar desert at a site called Aramis in the Middle Awash region, just 46 miles (74 kilometers) from where Lucy's species, Australopithecus afarensis, was found in 1974. Radiometric dating of two layers of volcanic ash that tightly sandwiched the fossil deposits revealed that Ardi lived 4.4 million years ago.

Older hominid fossils have been uncovered, including a skull from Chad at least six million years old and some more fragmentary, slightly younger remains from Kenya and nearby in the Middle Awash.

While important, however, none of those earlier fossils are nearly as revealing as the newly announced remains, which in addition to Ardi's partial skeleton include bones representing at least 36 other individuals.

"All of a sudden you've got fingers and toes and arms and legs and heads and teeth," said Tim White of the University of California, Berkeley, who co-directed the work with Berhane Asfaw, a paleoanthropologist and former director of the National Museum of Ethiopia, and Giday WoldeGabriel, a geologist at Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico.

"That allows you to do something you can't do with isolated specimens," White said. "It allows you to do biology."

The painting was done in 2000, the painter added president Barack Hussein Obama in later....and the painter is a religious nutbag who also paints about the Rapture....so obviously he's just a loon with a bit of talent at painting....

It doesn't matter, kids will be kids.

Alcohol is an illegal drug for people under the age of 21.

Just like their daddy, they are dope heads.

Figures...

"I have heard many times that atheists know more about religion than religious people," Silverman said. "Atheism is an effect of that knowledge, not a lack of knowledge. I gave a Bible to my daughter. That's how you make atheists."

religion is not about knowledge it's about faith....and faith can only exist due to lack of knowledge

faith can only exist due to hope of gathered knowledge.

examples
--------
You have faith the new president does a great job for the country. (This is obtained through the knowledge you have of this person)

You have faith that your marriage will last forever (This is obtained through the knowledge of the love she carries for you and you for her)

why would you need faith that your marriage will last forever....why don't you "KNOW" without question that it will last forever? ......this is why when it comes to marriage...faith is why people sign pre-nuptial agreements

because NOTHING is for sure on this earth. Heck tomorrow isn't even for sure. That is why we have faith, hope, desire, for such things in life to happen. Marriages no matter how they are done, is NOT for sure, it's all with faith that your marriage will work out.

if marriage or anything is not for sure as you say....then that is why faith is nothing more than hope...it doesn't require knowledge to hope...it only requires dispair

Don't forget FEAR!

March To Keep Fear Alive

"The March to Keep Fear Alive is a call to put the panic back into our panic rooms, and to restore the “AAHHHHH!!” back in AHH!-merica. Get ready to inadvertently wet your pants, Patriots! It’s American to have a little yellow on those Red, White, and Blue undies we all wear. We have enjoyed the spoils of freedom and liberty without being vigilant of our fears for too long, America.

Here we hope to capture the same spirit as Paul Revere, a true patriot and the greatest fear monger in American history. He rode through the night mongering fear until dawn. His girlish shrieks of “The British are coming! The British are coming!” helped fear spread throughout the American colonies like wildfire which is a real danger in dry summers like this one.

Keep posted here because anywhere else would just be a distraction from fear. We will have the latest news on the Keeping Fear Alive movement. Submit your thoughts and fears about the movement and we will post them here! Let’s build a community of fearful people and huddle around this campfire. Just remember not to have snacks in your pockets or the bears will come and eat us."

"I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore!"

Ladies and germs...Jon Stewart's Rally to Restore Sanity

Who among us has not wanted to open their window and shout that at the top of their lungs?

Seriously, who?

Because we're looking for those people. We're looking for the people who think shouting is annoying, counterproductive, and terrible for your throat; who feel that the loudest voices shouldn't be the only ones that get heard; and who believe that the only time it's appropriate to draw a Hitler mustache on someone is when that person is actually Hitler. Or Charlie Chaplin in certain roles.

Are you one of those people? Excellent. Then we'd like you to join us in Washington, DC on October 30 -- a date of no significance whatsoever -- at the Daily Show's "Rally to Restore Sanity."Ours is a rally for the people who've been too busy to go to rallies, who actually have lives and families and jobs (or are looking for jobs) -- not so much the Silent Majority as the Busy Majority. If we had to sum up the political view of our participants in a single sentence... we couldn't. That's sort of the point.

Think of our event as Woodstock, but with the nudity and drugs replaced by respectful disagreement; the Million Man March, only a lot smaller, and a bit less of a sausage fest; or the Gathering of the Juggalos, but instead of throwing our feces at Tila Tequila, we'll be actively *not* throwing our feces at Tila Tequila. Join us in the shadow of the Washington Monument. And bring your indoor voice. Or don't. If you'd rather stay home, go to work, or drive your kids to soccer practice... Actually, please come anyway. Ask the sitter if she can stay a few extra hours, just this once. We'll make it worth your while.

Watch Jon's call-to-reasonableness on The Daily Show. Keep checking back for updates and rally information."

Question: Why is OBL not wanted for the attacks of 9-11?

he is, but for the first attempt when clinton was in office, when a van blew up in the basement...

Just so people know..there's a video that was released that claims OBL admitted to the attacks of 9-11...the only probelem is OBL is left handed and it shows the guy writing with his right hand, also OBL did not wear any jewlery but had a wedding band on...oh then there's this:

That's a still from the video...yeah ok, that's OBL? Really?

See ALL the faked pics of OBL the gubberment fed the US media to use. DUH?

Yes knowledge is different in some parts of the country...the more religious an area is the more stupid people are. Like Mississippi for example: (they suffer the most from religion in this country)

Then by your own words, you grew up in a highly religious state, and you continue to be led around by stupid morons, how can you face yourself???

LOL, where did I ever say where I grew up? But it would not have mattered where since I have never been of mind to be brainwashed and bound to an idealogy...egads...plus I have read more than ONE book in my life.

Funny, I didn't expect you to get that insult, so you must have grown up in a religious area.

Someone having a spiritual notion of souls in afterlife are fine with me....what bothers me are the bible literalists who seem bent on destroying our world to bring that Jesus guy back. What also bothers me are religious freaks who insist on pushing their weird belief system into our government and homes.

When I see the zealots here clinging onto anything they can to deny the damage religion has done to us I feel like I am chatting to a pshycotic person...at best stubborn and prone to cognitive dissonance. It's weird to read scientific evidences that are available to everyone and hear people denying the simple facts.

What is really a "religious freak" is a bible-thumping, Atheist zealot who cannot see the forest trough the trees.
You have yet to show any facts that connect religion to your bigoted views, so what "facts" are people denying? The fact that people are at fault is what you deny. I've never seen a book, or a scroll, or a tablet harm anyone on it's own. By your logic, guns, knives, sticks, poisons, violent movies and books should all be abolished.

Not to top it all off with politics but what about HC? The same people that cling to the bible are also clinging to the T-Baggers/GOP (who oppose it).

LOL, take your politics elsewhere please, no one wants your beliefs forced upon them. (hypocrite)

Simple question: Why do the devouted ones always vote GOP?

Simple question: Who do the zealots and extremists constantly resort to generalizing, fact-bending and name-calling? Is it because they're stupid morons???? <ef'n hint in case you aren't smart enough to get the inference.

Some of us out here have had enough.

You're right, now will you stop it please?

No, "In your own words" was a lie since I never indicated where I grew up and it's not even relavent anyway...hardly see an insult there. An atheist, not an Anteist. For the most part non-believers do not give themselves a proper noun. I am not part of a religion so this "I know you are but what am I" argument is childish and meaningless.

I have continuously proven my points with references. Where have I not referenced my opinions? I have real life answers over the fairytale defenses of the travesty called "religion".

Hither was a Christian supported into power by Christians...The Dippic is a Christian voted into office (twice) by people who have their heads up their arses...Christians.

Let's compare!

Bono is also a pedophile, he hooked up with his wife when she was 14 and has had a ton of other under age women.

References or is this yet another blatant lie?

"Alison Hewson (born Alison Stewart on 23 March 1961), known as Ali Hewson, is an activist and the wife of U2's lead singer Bono

She married Bono on 21 August 1982 in a Church of Ireland (Anglican) ceremony at All Saints Church, Raheny.[4] Together they have four children: daughters Jordan (b. 10 May 1989) and Memphis Eve (b. 7 July 1991), and sons Elijah Bob Patricus Guggi Q (b. 18 August 1999) and John Abraham (b. 21 May 2001).[5]"

She was 22 when she married Bono.

Nature pitchfork I just can't see that happeningwinking

That's another problem with religion...it's influence on education in America.

What a shame! We can do better then this...when we accept "good" over "excellence" then we are not doing enough...gee, looks like it's southern states mostly lagging behind here....and toss Texas into the unacceptable group lately in History of how our country was founded...egads!

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/03/13/texas-textbook-massacre-u_n_498003.html

Looks like your in the Red, were in the yellow.I was not raised here. But I claim it been here long enough.
I Like how respectful you are and want to make friends. Sure can tell.

Not into Jesus Freaks, I am a Christian and proud of it. I've read many book also. I've had enough of the minority wanting to take God out of everything. You point the finger at someone assuming things yet you do the same. EGADS

If you meant "you're" and "we're" then I might believe you've read many book(s) and were raised in an area with good schools. I see no evidences of that...and I could care less if someone is offended by my writings since they cannot (or refuse) to see that religion is a ball and chain on this country and the world...humanity. The same Christians who claim not to be "Jesus Freaks" were the same people who supported Hitler and later on The Dippic...and now the T-baggers/GOP morons who hate progress.

I post in the best interest in taking our country back from the Thumpers who have ruined it. When evolution is no longer attacked then I'll quit insulting the dippicals...of course just challenging them to THINK is an insult in their minds....their rented out spaces.

I'll reply to PP after lunch, a movie and a fine babe who plans to share my bed with me today...heh. I am having a great life...don't need no f'ing fairytale bible thing to feel that out yo...I am not scared of life...or death and I will NOT be scared into submission to follow something that contradicts American and humanist values.

60% of this country does not believe in evolution...we have a long way to go to undo the damage that religion causes. What are you Non-"Jesus Freaks", "good" Christians doing to correct that? Humph.

It amazes me that people will stop at nothing to attack the Constitution. A bunch of child molesting pervs want to have sex with minors, and someone brings up the Constitution??? Give me a break.

I agree, it's absolutely pathetic to suppport anyone or any group that wants to exploit children. Incredible that I had to read these words here defending this. Simply a low form of life indeed that would defend child molesters...

the whole point is they want children under 10 years old...
the freedoms need to end somewhere... this is beyond ridiculous...

So then you approve of them using 12 year olds then. I see.

"Of course proven yet once again anyone or any organization that opposes the Obamanation.....will be under fire..."

No, any organization that perverts professional journalism will be exposed and hopefully ignored....more and more. Screw POX and the people who watch that crap. Sure it's a choice to watch it but it clearly defines the enemy of the US. The people who support the Just Say No GOP, the people who are not smart enough to know that they are just supporting Big Corporate, and above all the people of racist leanings who cling to the party or shill news that best supports their hatred and ignorance based agendas. Oh, how could I forget these guys who got their war against Islam started by voting for the Dippic. Thanks again!waving

What a motley crew ye all be.

You know what Congress and the US senate voted to allow President Bush the power to make that decision because they would not hold culpability in the public eye a basic political move to do what they didn't have the guts to vote for or against the lillilivered pieces of cowardice bull crap.......based on information received by the FBI and CIA information...now since George W. Was soooo stupid in the Democratic liberalists views......how would he ever be smart enough to understand he might have been lied to by the administration at hand and maybe he wasn't ....maybe the govermental agencies were mislead by someone else and maybe no one was mislead maybe they snuck things through underground tunnels as suspected previously.....u know what who the hell knows.....the point is 911 happened and the decisions were made no matter culpability you can't take it back......so deal with it.......the problem is too many people set in too extremist like fashion to party loyalty instead of looking beyond and finding a happy medium between fiscal responsibilty and social welfare programs and to bring everything back into focus compromise a program for a 10 percent tax accross the board....if its necessary.......whatever works because this stale mate of political party war is both wearying and useless to accomplishment of goals of socialism and profitability somewhere in between

What a pile of cryptic crap...pointless and immaterial. Next!

Actually, Jon Stewart is the most trusted name in news.

Also the reason Faux news has higher ratings than CNN or MSNBC is because most liberals and enlightened folks read newspapers.

Actually POX only leads on cable...ABC, NBC, CBS still kick their arses..and since POX is Not news it even gets beat by reruns of Survivor.

Schwarzenegger blasts big oil, defends climate law

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on Monday blasted the out-of-state oil companies that are trying to undermine California's global warming law, saying they are motivated purely by greed.

Companies such as Valero Energy Corp., Tesoro Corp. and Koch Industries are spending millions of dollars to manipulate the will of Californians and "buy votes," the Republican governor told the Commonwealth Club.

Their motivation, he said, is "self-serving greed."

The companies are sponsoring Proposition 23 on the Nov. 2 ballot, which would indefinitely suspend California's 2006 law that calls for significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.

Opponents of the law, AB32, say it will place a financial burden on businesses and cost California jobs. They propose delaying its implementation until the state's unemployment rate falls from its current 12.4 percent to 5.5 percent and stays there for a year.

"All this will do is put the global warming law off until unemployment is at a rate closer to what it was when Legislature passed the law, and until a time when California won't be going it alone," said Anita Mangels, a spokeswoman for the Yes on 23 campaign.

Schwarzenegger said the law may cost some jobs but will more than make up for the losses by boosting the clean-technology industry. He questioned the true motivation behind the oil companies' support for the ballot measure.

"They really don't just want to suspend it, they want to kill this initiative, kill our laws," he said. "Does anyone really believe that these companies, out of the goodness of their black oil hearts, are spending millions and millions of dollars to protect our jobs?"

Mangels called the governor's comments "disappointing," and said the list of Proposition 23 supporters extends far beyond the petroleum industry."

"ONE spokesman Oliver Buston has now defended the way the organisation is run, insisting the money is used for promoting its campaign and raising awareness rather than being given straight to those who need help.

He said: 'We don't provide programmes on the ground. We're an advocacy and campaigning organisation.'

Another spokesman in New York today dismissed the notion of lavish salaries being paid to its 120 members of staff and said the organisation was highly efficient in its raising of awareness.

ONE said it took no money from the public and that most of its funding came from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation."

U2 gave a great show here in Oklahoma...same stadium that OU plays in.

Great messages too. Those who'd like to explore what Bono has done for so many see this:

ONE is just one foundation Bono has run:

"Bono has become one of the world's best-known philanthropic performers.[74][75] He has been dubbed, "the face of fusion philanthropy",[76] both for his success enlisting powerful allies from a diverse spectrum of leaders in government, religious institutions, philanthropic organisations, popular media, and the business world, as well as for spearheading new organizational networks that bind global humanitarian relief with geopolitical activism and corporate commercial enterprise.[77]

In a 1986 interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Bono explained that he was motivated to become involved in social and political causes by seeing one of the Secret Policeman's Ball benefit shows, staged by John Cleese and producer Martin Lewis for the human-rights organisation Amnesty International in 1979.[78] "I saw 'The Secret Policeman’s Ball' and it became a part of me. It sowed a seed..." In 2001, Bono arranged for U2 to videotape a special live performance for that year's Amnesty benefit show.

Bono and U2 performed on Amnesty's Conspiracy Of Hope tour of the United States in 1986 alongside Sting.[12] U2 also performed in the Band Aid and Live Aid projects, organised by Bob Geldof.[79] In 1984, Bono sang on the Band Aid single "Do They Know it's Christmas?/Feed the World" (a role that was reprised on the 2004 Band Aid 20 single of the same name).[80] Geldof and Bono later collaborated to organise the 2005 Live 8 project, where U2 also performed.[13]

Since 1999, Bono has become increasingly involved in campaigning for third-world debt relief and raising awareness of the plight of Africa, including the AIDS pandemic. In the past decade Bono has met with several influential politicians, including former United States President George W. Bush and Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin.[81] During a March 2002 visit to the White House, after President Bush unveiled a $5 billion aid package, he accompanied the President for a speech on the White House lawn where he stated, "This is an important first step, and a serious and impressive new level of commitment. ... This must happen urgently, because this is a crisis."[81] In May of that year, Bono took US Treasury Secretary Paul H. O'Neill on a four-country tour of Africa. In contrast, in 2005, Bono spoke on CBC Radio, alleging then Prime Minister Martin was being slow about increasing Canada's foreign aid.[82] He was a nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2003, 2005, and 2006 for his philanthropy.[14][83][84]

In 2004, he was awarded the Pablo Neruda International Presidential Medal of Honour from the Government of Chile.[85] Time Magazine named Bono one of the "100 Most Influential People" in its May 2004 special issue,[86] and again in the 2006 Time 100 special issue.[87] In 2005, Time named Bono a Person of the Year along with Bill and Melinda Gates.[18] Also in 2005, he received the Portuguese Order of Liberty for his humanitarian work.[88] That year Bono was also among the first three recipients of the TED Prize, which grants each winner "A wish to change the world".[89] Bono made three wishes,[90] the first two related to the ONE campaign and the third that every hospital, health clinic and school in Ethiopia should be connected to the Internet. TED rejected the third wish as being a sub-optimal way for TED to help Africa[90] and instead organised a TED conference in Arusha, Tanzania. Bono attended the conference, which was held in June 2007, and attracted headlines[91] with his foul-mouthed heckling of a speech by Andrew Mwenda.

In 2007, Bono was named in the UK's New Years Honours List as an honorary Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire.[17][92] He was formally granted knighthood on 29 March 2007 in a ceremony at the residence of British Ambassador David Reddaway in Dublin, Ireland.[93]

Bono also received the NAACP Image Award's Chairman's Award in 2007.[94] On 24 May 2007, the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia announced that Bono would receive the Philadelphia Liberty Medal on 27 September 2007 for his work to end world poverty and hunger.[95] On 28 September 2007, in accepting the Liberty Medal, Bono said, "When you are trapped by poverty, you are not free. When trade laws prevent you from selling the food you grew, you are not free, ... When you are a monk in Burma this very week, barred from entering a temple because of your gospel of peace ... well, then none of us are truly free." Bono donated the $100,000 prize to the organisation. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala accepted the award for the Washington-based Debt AIDS Trade Africa.[96]

In 2005 he recorded a version of Don't Give Up with Alicia Keys, with proceeds going to Keep a Child Alive.[97]

On 15 December 2005, Paul Theroux published an op-ed in the New York Times called The Rock Star's Burden (cf. Kipling's The White Man's Burden) that criticised stars such as Bono, Brad Pitt, and Angelina Jolie, labelling them as "mythomaniacs, people who wish to convince the world of their worth." Theroux, who lived in Africa as a Peace Corps Volunteer, added that "the impression that Africa is fatally troubled and can be saved only by outside help—not to mention celebrities and charity concerts—is a destructive and misleading conceit."[98] Elsewhere, Bono has been criticised, along with other celebrities, for "[ignoring] the legitimate voices of Africa and [turning] a global movement for justice into a grand orgy of narcissistic philanthropy.[99]

On 3 April 2005, Bono paid a personal tribute to John Paul II and called him "a street fighter and a wily campaigner on behalf of the world's poor. We would never have gotten the debts of 23 countries completely cancelled without him."[100] Bono spoke in advance of President Bush at the 54th Annual National Prayer Breakfast, held at the Hilton Washington Hotel on 2 February 2006. In a speech containing biblical references, Bono encouraged the care of the socially and economically depressed. His comments included a call for an extra one percent tithe of the United States' national budget. He brought his Christian views into harmony with other faiths by noting that Christian, Jewish, and Muslim writings all call for the care of the widow, orphan, and stranger. President Bush received praise from the singer-activist for the United States' increase in aid for the African continent. Bono continued by saying much work is left to be done to be a part of God's ongoing purposes.[11]

The organisation DATA (Debt, AIDS, Trade, Africa) was established in 2002 by Bono and Bobby Shriver, along with activists from the Jubilee 2000 Drop the Debt Campaign.[101] DATA aims to eradicate poverty and HIV/AIDS in Africa.[101] DATA encourages Americans to contact senators and other legislators and elected officials to voice their opinions.[101]

In early 2005, Bono, his wife Ali Hewson, and New York-based Irish fashion designer Rogan Gregory launched the socially conscious line EDUN in an attempt to shift the focus in Africa from aid to trade.[102] EDUN's goal is to use factories in Africa, South America, and India that provide fair wages to workers and practice good business ethics to create a business model that will encourage investment in developing nations.[103]"
