I agree but Christians aren't interested in truth, two things that scare the Church are History and Science!

again...not all Christians

Reason I say that is Because my Sister, Aunt Mother and Grandmother are Christian and they won't have Esater (or Eastre or Ostara as it is also called) having anything to do with Pagans. they are Ignorant, those are three that I know and having gone to church Myself Growing up and going to their church recently I can see why. so it is with that that I say Christians aren't interested in Truth......I agree not all are that way, but today enough People have been Brainwashed to think that everything Christianity has to Offer is Original.

I can understand that and I'm sorry that you have to experience that side of it. I'm talked to some on emails and hope they see that I'm not like everyone. I'm Christian but I believe in the right to peoples beliefs and I enjoy learning about them

again..I'm sorry for your experience...hope you don't hold it against all of us flowerforyou

bored..I hope you will learn about me that I love to learn about others beliefs, origins, whatever

I entered this thread because I did think it was an interesting topic.

I actually researched holidays before I posted and learned new things that I didn't know before.

I hope you don't think I was trying to attack you because I wasn't...even tried emailing you but couldn't because I smoke.

I do have a question though...is Easter still celebrated by pagans? I know my wiccan friend did a may thing (can't remember what it's called sorry)

is that the same thing? she would give beskets of things in I guess her traditional outfit (ribbons etc)

just wondering what the celebration is

Beltaine, is May 1, or the first Full Moon in Taurus. Other names for it are May Day or Lady Day. It is primarily a fertility festival with nature enchantments and offerings to wildlings and Elementals. The powers of elves and faeries are growing and will reach their height at Summer Solstice. A time of great magic, it is good for all divinations and for establishing a woodland or garden shrine. The house guardians should be honored at this time.

Spring Equinox or Ostara, around March 21, is when light and darkness are in balance but the light is growing stronger. Ostara was not originally a part of the Celtic year, and all of its associations were given to Beltaine until recent times. Because it was named for the Teutonic Goddess of Spring and New Life, Eostre, it is assumed that it was brought to prominence in the Celtic world by the Saxons.

I am liking the response to this thread. I have had friends who will celebrate anything. I have worked with people who think there are too many working days and think there should be more holidays. Some of my friends at work have told me that I really need to take a vacation. I have seen kids especially who could care less about the orgin of holidays and more about a good excuse to be away from school.

I am christian but like I said...I love to learn history and other beliefs.

I passed this trait unto my son and he loves it

in fact when he was in 1st grade...they studied holidays and my son came home and announced he was jewish. lol

if he wanted to pursue it...I wouldn't sop him. but I don't see
him having a bar mitzvah where one side is his jewish friends and the other side is church of christ laugh

although to me...I think it could be funny

Funny is good. I joined the Moonies one time because this one guy told me that they could get me a wife. The women were from a foreign country and were true believers. My belief at the time was questionable because I was still just fresh out of detox. But then they said I would have to shave my head and give out flowers. It really didn't bother me to hand out the flowers but I wasn't about to shave my head after growing up where my parents were so strick about hair cuts. I did go to one meeting but never went back. I did kind of like the music they had and I thought Krshna was a interesting dude from reading up about him. I just about relapsed from reading about all the mysticism. I was really getting into mysticism about that time and the freakier the better. Maybe if I had some good shrooms I could have gotten hitched to one of them foreign ladies but being raised Christian some of the teachings just went against the grain.

I'm part Irish so my roots are in the druids. I love mythology. Greek, (not roman because it's the same as Greek), Egyptian, Gaelic and Norse

It is fascinating stuff to read about. I took the history of religion and philosophy in college. I wasn't doing too good in philosophy until I slipped and told about one of my acid trips. The professor liked my thinking and gave me an 'A'. He wasn't looking for us to rewrite about what he wrote on the blackboard but about how what he wrote affected how we thought. Actually, having done really good in creative writing I could really just make stuff up. It only worked in philosophy class though because none of the other professors were like him. I bet he would have been fun to get high with. I have always loved theology.
