that is why I let my answering machine handle all my calls, then if it is somone I want to talk to I call them right back. if not I just had a power outage that erased all my messages.

I have a friend like that, and sometimes she just won't shut up. She comes over to my house and brings her Lap Top and play's online poker. She is talking about the game she is playing including all the screams. It is really annoying especially when I am trying to watch the news or something. Sometimes I am fuming, so I have to go to another room. Kenneth, that is not just annoying, it is rude! I would tell her "I want to watch something on TV. Why don't you go home and play your game where you won't disturb anyone" or "I'm going to bed, so, would you mind leaving. I couldn't sleep with you screaming about your game." If this is a girlfriend, she is more than rude to do this. Its like, "hi, I want to spend time with you, but, I'm going to play games on my laptop I brought with me, and ignore you." If she wants to spend time with you, she should leave the laptop at home. Maybe thats what you should say. "Sure, come on over, but, please leave the laptop at home so we can talk" (watch a movie, listen to music or whatever) No she is not a girlfriend, just a good friend. I am glad that she brings her lap top so I don't have to listen to something worse, and also I don't have to entertain her. She has had a lot of hurt in her life, and so I put up with it. I am the only friend she has. She owns a condo on the beach, and a house in Michigan. She will come over and stay a few day's and then go back, especially if she has her condo rented out. I am always glad to see her go home. |

people come into our lives for a reason a season or for life. if you have 'friends' that you ignore or avoid, friends that always depress you, friends that bring drama... maybe its time to just let go. their season is past. why hang on to people that make you feel that way. its sort of like this site-or myspace...it doesn't mean anything to have 793 friends when there is no constructive relationship between you. its just shiny wrapping paper. its dumb. |

I had a friend like that, especially when she drank - wow... she would go on and on, never saying a thing, but always running her mouth...
She got mad at me for telling her that, and hasnt spoken to me since. maybe I should have spoken up sooner |

I probably talk, too much myself, at times, but it's different if you are not letting the other person speak. Just tell her you can't talk that long.

i had a 'friend' that would constantly call to get relationship advice. she was always meeting guys that controlled her, or
were slackers causing her to do, and spend, and fret, and feel neglected. so i give advice, and she doesn't heed any of it, and keeps breaking up and getting back together with the same guys thinking things will be different. i told her i was tired of always being the one to field her relation complaints, and that if that was the extent of our friendship i didn't want to be that one. instant drama eraser! |

or just tell them, hold that thought and walk away. its just crazy enough to be effective. muuaahahhh it does work, I stand by it... you must appear to be really paying attention, get a concerned look and tell them hold that thought, they will look baffled, concerned - giving you the chance to get away... |

If any of my friends need to "vent", I am there for them. I know in return I can do the same to them....if need be. That's what friends do for one another....

She is a good friend, I just wish ssometimes she would not talk so much. Oh...She also keeps me up at night. I will be sound asleep and she is always making some kind of noise. One night she was eating chips and really rattling the bag. I jumped up and said ..Patty can't you poor those in a plate or something. So she just put them up and quit eating them. |

the problem arises when you are more concerned about them than you...if they get offended well, boo hoo, they'll get over it, or not..who cares?
These folks (relatives or "friends") are either A)oblivious, in which case they may appreciate being told they have a tendency to get to "chatty". Or, B)they dont give a damn about you in the first place because its really all about them and then offending them isnt an issue, is it..? oooooh. excuse me, sometimes I get a bit "chatty"... |
