One should never believe in corporate owned news. They twist and turn for the corporate interests and Bush is corporate owned. You want real news go to realnews.com

thanks:smile:

People say this all the time when liberal good news is published too. News from any source at all should be closely scrutinized and there should be the realization that there is always a motivation or personal opinion behind every story, at least to some extent. That doesn't make it logical to reject the truth of an entire story simple because you believe it may be slightly exaggerated.

Well, Mr. I do not pay any attention to the posts that are being made, SPQ asked me to name one good thing President Bush did and so I complied with his request and produced the ban on partial birth abortion.

Yoo Hoo, are you here on planet Earth with us or are you out there in the ozone layer?

Since when does the Washington Times' articles come with hearts?noway

When I become a rockstar perhaps my political opinion can appear in the Washington Times too! (I'd use less hearts though...I wouldn't want to make the other party sick)laugh

Since when does being a rockstar give you the credentials to be a political analyst???? Didn't Britney Spears also support George Bush???laugh  laugh

OH, PLEASE EXCUSE ME FOR NOT PUTTING IN (EMPHASIS ADDED BY LINDYY)

BUT, as it was obvious to eveyone, I PUT THE HEARTS IN!!

Although I know it would be too taxing for your brain to do a google and look up the article. Duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

"IF Angels fear to tread where Fools rush in, and I am an Angel, what does that make you?"

I know you put the hearts in Lindyy...I was just razzin you.

If you use the good ol' google tool bar...I am sure your could find an article filled with praise over Hoover & Nixon as well.

My point was...I love how celebrities & musicians, because of status, are quotable and therefore published in political works.

Truth is Britney Spears also supported and praised George Bush. Does her credentials as a celebrity musicain contribute as a "respected political analyst"?

Im not trying to disrespect you, just the integrity of these kind of articles. They are obviously biased, as all articles based on personal opinion are. I just think its silly when speeches quoted by musicians and celebrities seem to have more impact on people then words from persons affiliated with politics.

Oh and its not called brainwashing. Its called knowing the facts. I actually look things up and form an opinion about something rather than just tell everyone they are brainwashed.

You are obviously not looking up all information as I have done or you would not believe the brainwash fed you.

You are the one that sounds brainwashed. Apparently I am brainwashed because I think Saddam was a bad person because of all the horrible acts he as committed. I guess all the evidence about his use of mustard gas on his own people, harboring terrorists, and paying the families of suicide bombers are all lies and he was really a swell guy.

Chaz - Lol, can you imagine what it must be like thinking that somehow nearly everyone except you is brainwashed and you are the only one who knows the real truth? Must be so frustrating. And scary, I would imagine when you eventually (maybe) realize that it was the other way around...poor girl.

Ok dragon. Do you know what the war on terrorism is? Because its not a war on Bin Ladden. Yes it was started after 9/11, but its sole purpose is not to capture him its to "curb the spread of terrorism" He havent caught bin ladden because he is not being active and hiding out in caves. Its hard to catch someone when you dont know where he is. Saddam, however, has been supporting terrorism(such as paying families of suicide bombers). By stopping him we are curbing the spread of terrorism. There have been operations in Europe, Africa, Asian, and the Middle East.

We can't just steal their oil, the UN wouldn't allow it and thats just stupid if you think that. Now if we help them set up a government and they are pleased with us then yea we could become good friends and have better business relations. Who the *%$# cares. Saddam was a horrible person and those people deserve better.

So we look strong if we strike A COUNTRY THAT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH 9/11????!!!!noway huh

Hold up sweetpea, Iraq absolutely had something to do with 9/11. Remember the 80's? Ronnie Raygun, Ollie North and the Iran/Contra debacle? America had a huge woody for Iran and we covertly supported Iraq in their war against Iran for years till it got found out then we left Saddam dangling in the breeze. Then Desert Storm came along and we twisted his tail a little harder. Yup that's right, we all know what paybacks are. We are basically a victim of REPUBLICAN foreign policy

Soooo, the connection to Iraq and al qaeda is???????? And Saddam did what on 9/11?????

I believe someone said earlier that the war on terror itn's just about attacking al quaeda. We are at war with any terrorist organization that means, or may mean to do us harm. We may have gotten sidetracked from bin laden but right now we are taking preventative measures to keep terrorists from getting stronger. You have to think in broad terms about stuff like this. Kinda like they failed to do in Korea and Vietnam with the communism, and like people are pushing for us to fail to do yet again with this terrorism stuff.

I understand the concept and I agree it's a good quality to be able to respect someone with differing opinions. But willingness to defend them, by itself, doesn't overcome disingenuous arguments and personal attacks. Respectable conviction is the minimum threshold in my book.

RE: Bob Geldof:

Live Aid
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Live Aid was a multi-venue rock music concert held on July 13, 1985 (1985-07-13). The event was organised by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure, and opened by Status Quo, to raise funds for famine relief in Ethiopia. (Tilight, Did you comprehend this? Oh, Emphasis added by Lindyy) Billed as the 'global jukebox', the main sites for the event were Wembley Stadium, London (attended by 72,000 people) and JFK Stadium, Philadelphia (attended by about 90,000 people), with some acts performing at other venues such as Sydney and Moscow. It was one of the largest-scale satellite link-ups and television broadcasts of all time: an estimated 1.5 billion viewers, across 100 countries, watched the live broadcast.

Inspiration

The success of Live Aid inspired Roger Waters' song "The Tide
Is Turning."

Similarly, the band Queen recorded the song "One Vision" in response to the Live Aid concerts. Lead singer Freddie Mercury wore a Live Aid shirt during the recording.

Memorable moments at Wembley Stadium

Queen opening to massive cheers with "Bohemian Rhapsody", and the antics of lead singer Freddie Mercury who got the entire Wembley crowd clapping in unison to "Radio Ga Ga" and singing along, word-for-word, to "We Will Rock You" and "We Are the Champions". Mercury's performance,…"Hammer to Fall", led to Queen's slot being voted in a recent poll (by fans and musicians alike) as the 'Greatest Live Gig Ever'.[1]

Twilight, I doubt if you ever heard of “Live Aid” and doubt if you even care. I quote this as you seem so narrow minded to think that rock musicians are incapable of doing any good. Bob Geldof has been faithfully devoted to helping the people in Africa and is well respected around the world for this. Thus, the press interviewing him on President Bush’ recent trip to Africa and Presiden Bush's continuing cause to help the people in African nations who suffer from AIDS and Malaria. Which people such as yourself and the other leftie libbers on this thread despise hearing.

I included the remarks about Freddie Mercury and Queen, as, if you ever viewed my profile, I have been a consistent and devoted fan of Freddie Mercury. Point being, just because you have a professional career in the field of rock music, does not mean you are incapable of putting your talents towards aiding people in the world who are suffering!

My Kudos to all who participated in Live Aid.

As for Britney Spears, God Forbid Twilights Twin, that you ever succumb to the mental illness of Bi-Polar, from which Britney Spears suffers.

If I have ever come across someone who is extremely prejudiced and judgmental and totally immature, it is you.

I pray you grow up someday.

Lindyy,
You should be ashamed of yourself for confronting the honest and evenly stated opinion of a thoughtful young person of this country with nothing but baseless personal attacks and unnecessary vitriol! How dare you exalt yourself to the level that anyone who disagrees with you, even mostly tongue in cheek, should be denigrated in such a way! You have some very serious introspection issues, but I sure hope that you will stop and take a look at yourself and hopefully correct the pathetic debating tactics which you employ. Your disrespect for thoughtful and well reasoned humans is downright appalling.

Honestly, you should be ashamed.
