I've been kinda down lately and I think a part of it is when I was spending Christmas and New Year's alone, I thought, well, next big date holiday is Valentine's Day, I'll have someone to make plans with by then, right? Ha! So, Thursday is my regular plasma donation day and I was considering not going, just staying home and pampering myself. Then it occured to me, what better way to show the love?
For real. We've got troops, cops, firefighters, children, lots of injured people who through either no fault of their own or through actively trying to protect us are in the hospitals in need of blood or plasma and can't even think about what they're going to be doing for Valentine's Day! So, I'm going to stick to my appointment and now not JUST cause I don't have a date, if one comes up (hey there's still 2 days left! lol) it'll happen after I make that stop. Maybe others in the same boat will consider doing the same, and we can make a little difference. Not under any illusions that I'm going to change the world, but you know the saying about one starfish being thrown back into the sea... While I'm at it, for those of us without special plans, any money that would otherwise have been spent on a mani/pedi/date can go to a worthy cause and maybe help someone less fortunate too. I admit straight up that I'm not just doing this for altruistic reasons, but for the purely selfish fact that it will make me feel a heck of a lot better about myself than sitting around alone moping would. Hey, even if you do have a date, think about it and maybe you'll consider doing something similar some other night when the main alternatives include moping around the house.... Sounds like a great idea. Certainly a much better way of thinking about others and doing something important for others than getting cards, candy and flowers to observe a holiday invented to help out the greeting card industry.

Humm have not thought of it and have not given blood in a while guess what would be better than to give blood on Valentines Day!! Hummmm might be time to stop by and donate again.
