I ould say in this day and age keep a close eye on who is educating them and if the cirriculum is suitable. In the uk and us in some schools they have drag queen story hour to promote lgtbq. And it could be argued that good sex ed could awaken a curious childs mind into further self exploration thus confounding porn addiction. These are not opinions i hold just words

Mostly youth confuse porn watching with sex education. They think they can learn how to do sex by watching how it is done on porn. So as an old school guy i would still pick the old way...Learn about sex from your aunties when you are about to get married or about to go to your husband..my words but this varies with cultures and religions

Sex edu doesnโ€™t make dating better. What if one of the partners doesnโ€™t want sex right away so what do you then? Porn addiction can happen when youโ€™re married too.

From what I've seen on here; hundreds of young guys looking for "aunties" and "cougars", or "older" "experienced" women, yes I'd say porn addiction is a big problem in a lot of countries. I don't think sex education classes will solve that. Social skills education seems a better bet.

I know from Ireland, sex ed is still given by nuns, because schools are under catholic patronage. In the 21st century, homosexuality is still either denied or seen as an illness. No wonder, kids are tempted by porn ...

I agree, it'd be better that people learn good social skills and how to communicate in a healthy fashion. That's the biggest things that's lacking in education which means that as adults everyone's fumbling around.

Sex education is nothing more than the technical details of how intercourse works. There's no real detailed info or story-telling how feelings & love play a role. It's more the mechanics, which isn't even half the story as that's the feelings side of things. Or at least should be.
If we were taught that -that the feelings side was most important- maybe things would go better in relationships and dating for us as adults.

Another issue with sex edu is that it's given at age 12, last class of elementary school, at least over here. In a way that is smart as you educate kids -esp girls- how they could get pregnant so you could prevent that by early sex edu.
Down side of giving that age 12 is that many will be too young, not ready or 'ripe' yet to take the info & knowledge in and then it won't really stick.
And even though you were taught a basic of the mechanics, that doesn't mean you're not fumbling around when you're going to have sex for the first time.

Sex addiction is typically high in countries and among people who are very religious. This is the case in the US as well as any other country in the world, incl. so called developing countries.
Anywhere where there's high emphasis on religion you will find sky-high sales of porn and numbers of sex-addicts.
Conversely, numbers of sex-addictions, porn watching etc. are substantially lower in countries/areas where religion isn't all that important.

Sex edu makes dating better

Yes, if your focus for dating is having sex.
Experience trumps education everytime.

Sex education when I was in school was part of the biology sciences.
It involved physical attributes, basic conception and gestation.

When in high school and hormones were ruling most of us, sex ed class was included in social sciences.
It involved manners, hormonal effects in puberty, social intricacies of young adults and family values.
Many of us got 'The Talk' from our parents.
Sometimes they got it right.

College was an explosion of sexual experiences, both good and bad. You got to see what actually happens when your friend doesn't wear a condom and the turmoil it causes. The AIDS scare sent fear rampaging thru campus. Couples stayed together longer and moods went funky.

I'm pretty sure the drag queen story hour was in a public library (not a school library). And she wasn't there to promote LGBTQ+. She just read a story like normal. Definitely wouldn't bother me if my child were read to by a drag queen. A lot drag queens are wonderful with children. No one is forced to take their child to Story Hour at the public library. It's always optional whether you take your child to a public library.

Growing up in England my sex education class (not many lessens) was given at age 13 by the male Maths teacher, in an all boys school in the early 1960s. The schools were separate and not mixed females and males students in those days. From what I remember, it was all very basic biology, the focus was on making us aware of the laws of carnal knowledge, no means no. The contraceptive pill had arrived, the permissive society and the swinging sixties.

I think sex education should and does teach respect for each other in a relationship, so I agree it should make dating better.

Education is always better. In my school system, we were learning about male and female body developments around 6th grade, and older health classes talked about more. I went to a public school. High school was talking about what happens during sex, protection.

From what I've observed chatting with men from India, they sure do like porn.

But porn addiction is common everywhere.

Also, people know how to make babies but don't bother to prevent unwanted pregnancies.

Sex ed, at least here where I live is mostly about conception, but not contraception.
