I am at my most creative when I am alone. It generaly takes me days to detox from people to reach me, the real me, to create. As artists is it the same for you or not?

I'm not really an artist, other than doing decorative planning. But I'm with you on the solitude. This applies to my life in general. I value my alone time.

Sometimes I feel this world would be such a beautiful place, if it weren't for all the people... Oh, Well I think we are the caretakers of this beautiful earth. I detox from other peoples thoughts, not because I dislike people, but becayse the voices can crowd my thoughts and emotions. |

I need to have inner peace in order for inspiration to flow, and from that creation.
And of course not tired from work. When I was still working I'd had it by the time I got home. No energy to be creative anymore. I also had two kids and a difficult relationship to navigate at the time. When not working it can free flow, provided nothing else is causing stress of course, and I can be creative. I don't mind have people around me, but it's got to be the kind of people that do not bother me energetically. |

[Exactly. The more people that are awake the more we have a chance at saving our freedom. Or Thus; we will be enslaved like the people in communist China./quote] |

Yes, it takes an incredible amount of focus to produce good art. Hundreds of decisions are made within a few hours. The ideas and images evolve very quickly, funneling through thought processes and pushing the medium to it's limits. If there are interruptions, it is hard to get back to the train of thought. Time becomes irrelevant.
It's all good. When asked when a painting is done, the response is "A painting is never done, it just stops in interesting places." |

I don't socialize as a general rule because I am very happy, creative and motivated when I am left alone.

I'm not very creative anymore. I spend time organizing and sorting files on my computer.
I do that best when I'm alone. Back when I was really into expressing myself I delved into many mediums, both standard artistic and natural creativity like trailblazing and bridge building in the woods. When I was into personal expressionism I loved creating with an audience and most of the time others on-going assessments drove me to try new things and reach higher states. I believe its the 'teacher' in me that did that. As a mechanic, later in life, I was well-known as an innovating streamliner. I reworked wiring and hoses and other components to make repair and troubleshooting easier on the mechanic. I made charts and posters and even put together an in-house handbook for the tech library. My creativity was driven by other's most of my life. When I became disabled and was forced into seclusion my artistic creativity dried up. I no longer have a need or desire to impress others with my art. |

IMHO I believe art has nothing to do with IMpressing and everything to do with EXpressing. Unfortunately, we artists occasionally get ensnared in the impress part in order to make a living, ie catering to common demand, which is elusive and unpredictable at best.
You are familiar with the five ways of learning, yes? Many of us are visual learners. Visual images transcend barriers of language and culture, see Picasso's "Guernica" - it is an expression of wartime horror that has a global understanding. Michelangelo, completed an astoundingly beautiful sculpture from marble, called the "Pieta", before the age of 27. He said he simply released the figures the from the marble They were always there. His masterpiece is an exquisite visual expression of tenderness, love, faith, and sorrow, to name a few. Some claim divinely inspired. Van Gogh sold only one painting while he lived, even though he produced over 900. If he was set on impressing he may have given up at 20? Yet today he is world renown for his expression. To each his own though, we are all entitled to that. |
