I envy your trip River! To see the country on a drive has to be breathtaking. I will do that one day since I want to drive to San Francisco so I can visit Alcatraz. Yes it is, especially going through the Tetons. That's cool, I've been to San Francisco a couple times, I have an Aunt there. I haven't been to Alcatraz though. |

So have you taken your picture under the Elk antler arch yet? No, but I walked under it, lol. I'll be going back into Jackson in the next week or two, I'll take one then. It looks really cool! |

Spent the majority of the afternoon working on my training. There was a technical issue that was holding me up. But I managed to get around their system and the training is now complete.
My temporary dorm room is actually a manager's room, with a bathroom... woohoo! I won't be going to my permanent dorm for another couple weeks. The housing manager is very nice and everyone else I've seen so far was nice as well. I was told the bears were in the backyard this morning, now that would be cool to see... from a distance, lol. Not quite the nice view from my window as I've had at other places, but once outside it's very beautiful. Lots of snow! Thankfully it snowed before I left Jackson this morning. I had forgotten to put my snow brush in my new car, haha. I had to stop at the store to get one. Also got bear repellent, apparently it's a must have item around here. |

Hey!!!! Good Morning There ! Driving 3,000 Miles is not an Easy Job ! Sometimes all you need is a Good Friend ( Car ) and a Full Tank of Confidence ( Petrol )... Good Morning Paul Lol, I totally agree! Gypsy's been a good friend to me... Yes, I named my car. Gypsy seemed fitting since some gypsies travel around the country side. I named my car Minnie Pearl. Now I need a bonnet with the price tag still on it and attach it to the car. Ive been catching up the best I can at said moment. ENJOY! |

That is really cool! I’m glad you finally made it to your destination safely! I really admire you for doing all that traveling by yourself....I’m not much of a traveler, at all but short road trips are ok Hope you enjoy the snow there. We might get a few flurries in the mountains this weekend. I have had enough of that for the season and ready for warmer weather now! |

We might get a few flurries in the mountains this weekend. I have had enough of that for the season and ready for warmer weather now! There were times when I was on the road that I wish I had flown, The long all day driving does wear me out a bit. The shorter trips with breaks in between were much better. But, as much as I love flying, I would have missed out on a lot of cool stuff. And I've figured out a few things to make the journey back to the East Coast less tiresome. I'm about ready for spring too, but the snowy scenery here is beautiful. I'll get to experience all four seasons in the six months I'm here. I'm loving it here so far, and holy cow is it quiet! No background noise from traffic, sirens, or anything... just peace and quiet. |

just saying good night Hope you have a good restful sleep in your new place tonight...and don’t let the bears bite! Thanks Dee I slept really well, must be the mountain air. First night in a long time that I slept until 4am, haha. I'm usually waking up around 2:30 or 3. I went to my job site yesterday and met some of the higher ups, along with a few people I'll be working with, and my boss. Such cool people, and I adore my boss, she's awesome! She was thrilled that I'm a morning person, she's not, so I will be the store opener... WooHoo I'll be at the gas station/convenient store, not the grocery store, but that's cool. It's a cute little store right off the main highway in Teton National Park, not far from Yellowstone National Park. I'll be meeting people from all over the country, and world. My boss let me know about the regulars that come to visit... A mama bear and her cubs and a couple other bears that frequent the property around the store and campground where I'll be. It's said that the mama bear stays close to the road to protect her cubs from the wild boar. The wild boar tend to stay deeper in the woods, so it makes sense. I explored the little village I'll be living and working in, the photo is of the lake that's just a short walking distance from my dorm. The village is about 5 miles from where I am now, holy cow it's beautiful and amazing there. Can't wait for the lake to thaw out so I can go kayaking. There's a hiking trail that goes all the way around the lake, and several other trails as well. Yep... I'm gonna love living here for the next six months! |

I would miss my water bed too much Hope your first day on the job went really well It does look like a beautiful place! I usually do the first night or two, I keep waking up every hour or so. My first night here I woke up a few times, but not last night. And I don't think I will tonight either because I'm totally exhausted, lol. First day of work went well, but was very exhausting. Lots of moving boxes of product into the storage barn, lots of cleaning, lots of bending down and getting up.... I need a massage Tomorrow will be a long day. We're open from 8 to 5 and I will be working the whole shift... nine and a half hours or ten hours. I think it's just tomorrow though, hopefully she won't have me work that on Sunday as well. And once the rest of the crew gets it, it will be normal hours. |

Meet 399 and her cubs... She and her cubs live in Grand Teton National Park. Colter Bay Village, where I work, and will soon be living, is part of her regular routes. Apparently she is famous worldwide, I've yet to see her but I imagine I will eventually once I move into the dorms over there. She was seen at the dorms last week, haha.
So far the only animals I've seen are a coyote sitting on a snow bank watching traffic go by, a fox that took a stroll across the parking lot at the gas station I work at, and George... a raven that lives at the park with his lady, he visited me while I was having lunch yesterday. Fortunately I had my windows up, so he didn't get into the car with me, but he jumped up on my hood and at least tried, haha. Here's a cool article about 399 and her cubs if anyone is interested in reading about her... https://www.livewaterjacksonhole.com/the-jackson-hole-way/grizzly-bears-grand-teton-national-park/ |
