I am not sure what is so hard to understand. We cant determine whats happening ACROSS an industry or a geography, by asking a few random individuals their perspectives based only in their INDIVIDUAL experience in one SPECIFIC location within that industry or geography. I can work at the a casino in Vegas and say I have noticed more smokers, but that is only MY perception in ONE casino, and is not the same as the CASINO wide trends overall, and not as accurate as recording CASINO wide numbers from ALL the casinos. I live in AMerica and it SEEMS by my perception that there is more violence. However, if I look at DATA, I will come to find out my perceptions is NOT the mathematical reality. This happens as a result of relying on individual experiences to define broad mathematical reality. 'stark increase' is not data.
