The military is being paid to protect us. It's our job as parents to support and care for our kids. I have 3 kids and 2 grandkids.

it is our job, it is also our job to protect them, yet we have fire and police to assist in that job dont we? Parents have alot of jobs, doesnt absolve society from giving a damn about the kids when said parents are needing a little help.

It crosses my mind that no one spends 24 hours of their day on ANY ONE thing. and that no one goes through life NEVER taking time to regroup, socialize, or enjoy themself somehow, regardless of their finances.

These things can be done ALONG with 'getting themself together'

I dont know how to explain it to you that you will understand Miss Harmony.

when one is on welfare , one job is do what it takes to get off of welfare so you can enjoy life, enjoying life on welfare means they will never get off of welfare, there is no incentive.

I dont know how to explain it to you. Human beings are human beings whatever their income is. Children need basics whatever their caretakers income is. And if we can invest in military protection, we can invest in protecting kids from being without their basics. If we can invest in the politicians, we can invest in AMerica's kids.

Oh you want to invest in America's kids? ohh nice , how about putting armed guards at schools or allowing certain teachers to arm themselves to protect our kids in school, that would be a nice start

how about getting rid of bad teachers and teachers unions so they can hire the best teachers to teach our children things and teach them that welfare is supposed to be temporary solution and how its subsidized by people who actually sacrifice and work for a living.

Teachers teaching our kids that Capitalism is good and what made America great it the first place, and teaching that socialism is a bad idea why? collectivism promotes laziness, and central planning is for the elites who wants to control the masses.

all the blanket stereotyping in the world isn't going to make me forego the delicate combination of logic AND human decency.

Human decency, how about able bodied people find a job or two and leave welfare for people who actually needs it.

Right now, my cousin is attending medical school and working and getting herself 'together'. but she would look at me crazy if I suggested she never go out anywhere or do anything until she reached the level of 'together' that satisfied me. Get real.

your cousin is paying for medical school either from her own pockets or a student loan, it isn't funded by the tax payers so your point is irrelevant.

If one income is being paid for by tax payers you should do whatever it takes to get off of welfare not sit there at the movies or sporting events.

sorry this makes little sense

when one is on welfare , one job is do what it takes to get off of welfare so you can enjoy life, enjoying life on welfare means they will never get off of welfare, there is no incentive.

what it 'takes' is STILL not something someone will be doing 24/7. I had incentive to get off of it even WITH an occasional movie or meal out. Because I could have two hours every once in a while to sit back and relax, didnt mean I was 'enjoying' life having to be looked down upon and struggling to try to find work in an increasingly competitive culture.

Yes. I do want to protect Americas kids. feel free to start other threads on the topic, but as it pertains to THIS ONE with the constant welfare bashing, I will stay on why its important to have security programs for them to be able to have FOOD AND SHELTER.

and seriously?
Human decency, how about able bodied people find a job or two and leave welfare for people who actually needs it.

how about people understand that the job process is not like walking out the door and starting the same day, there is a process to finding a job in one's own geography and within one's skillset that decides to HIRE you, and there is time that takes and time it takes to first get paid once HIRED. ALL TIMES that children must still HAVE FOOD AND SHELTER in the meantime.

I disagree that being on welfare should make people slaves to doing NOTHING but working 24/7. Thats neither emotionally healthy or physically plausible. "Getting yourself together' is always a process and takes some kind of time. To suggest people only do the things that get them together and NOTHING for downtime value, is nonsense only applied when 'getting together' is being applied to the poor or those needing assistance.

Like I said, my cousin is 'getting herself together' with the goal of being a doctor. She doesnt lose her incentive to do so by going to the show or having a meal out. She spends time doing BOTH because she is a human being that values herself enough to make time for herself. I would never think to ASSUME that because she goes to the movies when she could be reading medical books, she no longer has INCENTIVE to become a doctor. That's nonsense.

you can do what it takes, but it will never take 24/7 of your day. And there will always be some time sometimes to do something to refresh, socialize, and value yourself.

I'm paying a lot in property tax. Just got a huge increase. The firemen here are getting a raise out of it and teachers more in their retirement. It was in last week's newspaper. I worked more than 40 hours a week when it was necessary. I gave my daughter her childhood home. She is a couple houses up the street from me. I'm doing my best for my kids.

Here is the problem. While my grandkids were born on tricare south, through their dad's employment, others are being born on medicaid. This is because women are choosing to have kids out of wedlock. It's not my son in laws place to support his kids and someone else's kids.

The problem in society is we need to get the slackers to pay for their kids. Not punish the productive people more.

If you follow one person receiving welfare, you may see they watch a lot of Television, how about cut back on the TV watching and learn a new skill, you can learn almost anything on the net today with the free Youtube videos.

There is no excuses today.

explain why immigrants barely speaking english can find jobs? and within a decade living a decent life, some even owning a house?

Ever seen the jobs these immigrants find? jobs that that average American would thumb their noses at, they will get up at 6 am in the morning work 7 to 4, come home eat then go to another job from 6 pm to 10 or 11 come home and repeat the cycle.

And some of these jobs at Minimum wage

they may not go out and socialize like the average american because they want to get ahead so they can enjoy life later or give their children a chance .

Anyone that succeeds in life will tell you one must sacrifice something to achieve financial success.

umm.. Medicaid is not based on marital status.

Dads are dads, REGARDLESS of marital status

so ....

WE do need to get fathers to pay for their kids, and not punish mothers for choosing deadbeats ...

Newsflash: if you follow ANY stay at home parent, or even MOST americans of all working statuses, you will see they watch 'alot' of media, why limit it to TV?

people who have either no young children, or a network that can HELP in supervising their children for them, can pick and choose minimum wage and unlimited hours, if they SACRIFICE raising their own kid for the 'possibility' that eventually, (possibly once the kid is grown and needs them less anyway) they will get 'ahead'.

However, single parents without such privilege of freedom of time and effort around the clock, have more limitations and reasonable considerations to keep.

a minimum wage job? 10 an hour job? that would be what 1600 a month. Take 20 percent off for tax and insurance(thats underestimating), thats gonna be 1280 per month take home.

That would require at least 2 hours a day (before and after school) that someone else has to watch the kid(s), the school programs have them for about 30 a week. Thats 120 a month in child supervision costs. That leaves 1060 a month, for RENT, utilities, groceries, gas, car payment and insurance ... I dont think thats happening.

Employers can pay better wages or taxes can help to subsidize the cost of people not having BETTER wages. but that sacrifice needs to happen if it means keeping kids from starving or being without shelter and medical care.

yes, sacrifices are part of life. More 'taxpayers' should understand that.

TOTAL sacrifice, however, is martyrism.

Humans need balance, that includes work AND play, food AND water, rest AND activity ...et cetera ...

I said why not cut back on watching TV, I mean if you want a job working as a hair dresser you can learn something by watching you tube videos.

It wont get you a job because you have to get a license by attending some type of course but you will be further ahead, and if one is on welfare and correct me If im wrong they usually have some type of program where they pay people to go learn a skill?

So that means night school or school during the day if you have young children it means someone has to watch them .

that is the sacrifice Im talking about.

what does it take to learn a new skill ?

who says you are guaranteed the right to socialize, socializing and going out isn't a right its a privilege,

Off topic, I go on vacation three times a year, its not a right but a privilege that Ive earned through years of hard work, I'm not entitled to anything

That is the problem with some on welfare they think they are entitled to a good life because of misfortune in life, you are not entitled to squat.

the old Life , liberty and the pursuit of happiness, not the guarantee of happiness, the pursuit is up to you

When these women aren't married, dad is a ?, until after birth and DNA test. The child will most likely be on Medicaid until it 18. The dad will most likely be required to pay 20% of his income in child support. That's if he is stable enough to work. Mom will probably stay home till the kid starts prek. Most of her income will come from the tax payer. It's not fair to put an unwanted child on everyone else. Women should be more responsible and use birth control.

Life is not 'fair' sometimes then. I think its more than 'fair' for a so called 'civilized' nation to look after the health and welfare of its citizens, ESPECIALLY kids that cannot for themself.

and unfortunately, we have no way for the government to put everyones tax in a seperate pot with a multiple choice card of which things they feel will be 'fair' to them to pay and which things they dont.

adults should be more responsible and use condoms, but until that happens, and as long as people are free to mate and believe they are mating with the person of their choice, they are going to exercise the freedom to start families together, even if it doesnt END up the way they saw it when it STARTED out.

and the problem with some so sure they are above welfare is that they dont understand that emotional/mental/and physical health is dependent upon a life of balance, WHETHER one wants to call it a 'right' or not.

and they seem to think that being needy enough to need some help should make one just forego said emotional/mental/and physical health until they deem them 'worthy' of it. ..

the original point by the way, was how one knows that someone who attends a protest has an 'unproductive' life or can tell their employment status or life situation?

because productive people in society dont protest silly things

Its been said countless numbers of times Miss Harmony.

A person earning minimum wage lets $7.25 per hour protesting to earn $15.00 per hour has a legitimate beef.

I get that , I may not agree with them but they have the right to protest and I can see why they would be upset and wanting to change that.

A person earning $7.25 an hour protesting on their day off or taking time off of work to protest the Current U.S president is stupid and that isn't being productive.

Why not forgo the protest and learn a skill to better your life, besides how is protesting a sitting president because you dont like what he stands for or said a decade productive?

priority is the key here.

people have it ALOT tougher, all over. Parents have alot of 'responsibilities' beyond financial when it comes to kids. Stopping benefits harms the child if it is not replaced with something that they can LIVE on. Its not the answer in a society that values decency.

You are blaming minimum wage for women having children with men who don't want them. A friend of mine got a new grandchild last week. Her son/dad doesn't want to be a family. He is a lineman. $25/$30 an hour. He wouldn't marry the mother. She had the baby on Medicaid.
These women need to stop trying to latch themselves into a man. Men want a woman with a job and a home. Stay at home mom's are very rare these days.

No wonder your country is so divided and yet they blame it on Trump

Trump is doing his best to correct the mistakes of the past, but it doesn't happen over night.

I have to laugh when I hear the left tell us that people on welfare deserves to have a life, they deserve this and that, they are entitled to a life on the tax payers expense.

So tell me why they deserve to go on vacation on the tax payers dime?

If anyone deserves or is entitled to tax payers expense vacation is the military vets who served and got their limbs blown off in defense of the country.

by the way , so self respecting man wants to date someone on welfare who believes they are entitled to everything.

Most women with young children on welfare looking to better themselves are not out looking to date anyways, they want out so bad that they are willing to sacrifice personal relationships to get out.

those women we must help, not the loser who expects life to handed to them and they are entitled to have a life at the tax payers expensive

shame on them.

first, because it is built on a premise that a productive person NEVER does silly things, or that noone who ever does silly things can be productive.

I am not delusional, people who keep describing welfare as a 'happy' life may be though.

if people are not 'entitled' to anything, why does the constitution itself include a clause regarding the health and general welfare to be paid with taxes?

and if WE ARE the government, and in terms of the budget monies, we ae

than it is US getting US out of those circumstances
