For those who believe no explanation is necessary ... for those who do not none will suffice.

To describe God it takes an open mind to hear what the description entails and not to just be blown off by a closed minded individual. To understand what God is ---you have to have a closeness with compassion--or you cannot understand even a basic description. You have to look into your own hearts and minds to begin to understand God.

But the answer lies here-------------> Faith + the fact that not everyone will comprehend what God is / means / or even feels like. Because there are some that are not of God---and everyone can understand that---Evil people are all around and everyone has undoubtedly run across them in their lives. But the breakdown is that not all people are deep down good people and even God acknowledges the fact that certain people won't comprehend Him (until it's too late that is). But remember the Bible says---- "There is only One that is lost" meaning that only Satan himself can never be forgiven for going against God, but we can (if we choose to).

Funches,

I know that verse and I know something about it that you don't.

For the Hebrew's to exact a death penalty, it required two witnesses. The witnesses then testified before a group of 12 Rabbi. If the Rabbi agree that the person deserves the death penalty, then the accused is sentenced. The accused is then taken to a high place (cliff or man-made structure) and then the witnesses would push the accused off. The witnesses would then pick up a large rock and drop it on the accused. If the accused survived, then the community would all pick up stones and throw them at the accused.

The witnesses of an unruly child would have to be the parents. Not only would the parents have to ask for their child to be executed, but they would have to perform the execution themselves.

The purpose of the law is revealed by Jesus' teachings. We all fall short of God's perfection. When the Israelites were told that only someone with perfect skin, no deformities, no blemishes could approach the altar of God...people still went to the altar. They didn't get it, that NONE of them were good enough to approach the altar. Imagine, someone without a single mole, blotch, scar, blemish of any kind. Does anyone like that exist? Who doesn't have a single mark on their skin at all?

The purpose of the law is to show how much we need a savior.

The law you quoted is supposed to show the parents that the ONLY reason they are allowed to live is because THEIR father has taken mercy on them and decided to not have them executed.

You know something,Funches ?

The first mention of stoning was an Egyptian form of penance that Moses apprehended as a threat to his own people as a consequence of destroying and defacing Egyptian images of worship.

What I found was a consistent 'eye for an eye' analogy being dumped in the lap of the children of Abraham that subsequently had journeyed in expatriation from Pharoah and further insulted their deliverance from by God when they rebelled in the wilderness and murmured among themselves about being better off where they were under Pharoah.

the children being thirsty, seemed to be a threat to Moses' being stoned by his own people , and further consequences for aligning themselves in marriage with followers of Molech and producing children and foreign relationships once again included the stoning of the children of the children of Abraham that had so mingled.

Also depicting that God would prefer that they leave Egyptian customs where they found them as well, meaning don't think on them....but no!!!! They continued to embrace the concept of 'stoning'. hhhmmmmm......

It is one of reciprocity,, Funches, not one of the will of God.

All things considered, it does employ the age old adage,

" do unto others as you would have them do to you".

Apparently the lesson was not learned and the lesson was retaught.

Ad infinitum, if you will.

Nothing has changed.

It is an age old lesson to learn on any level at any time by anyone. At All.

Would you agree?

It goes as such : that employing Egyptian penance is equal to erecting graven images in the mind and by extension it is a form of idolatry. Think. Reason with the early lessons brought on by wrong assumptions and engendered upon God as beinng in the realm of His choosing. Tough love there, what?

Can you show me a single verse where a man missing a limb came to Jesus, asked for healing and was refused?

Did it ever occur to you that losing a limb, even today, is very deadly? 2000 years ago, if someone lost a limb, they were dead. Period. End of discussion. Perhaps a person could have been born that way, without legs or arms. That is a rare deformity today and is rarely found without complications. Complications that might prevent a child from living longer than a few hours.

Perhaps the complete absence of a person with a limb deficiency in the Bible is a clue? Why assume that if God exists, God must hate someone without all of their limbs? Isn't it more reasonable to assume that since nobody like that is even mentioned in the Bible, that there must not have been many people living in those days who had less than the normal number of limbs?

Choose not to. Jesus told the apostles when they tried to defend him, that he could call down angels to carry him away. Jesus could also have killed his tormentors. He could have healed himself. But he had to die to pay for our sins. The punishment for sin never changed, but God's mercy allows us to accept Jesus' sacrifice in place of our own spiritual death.
