it is if it is

posting to social media about how another's choice to do the same is 'whining' or having a 'poor me' mentality

merely having a different opinion is fine, labeling someone else's choice to do the same as something negative, is hypocritical
so is whining about it in the first place... are they really offended, or is it just to start problems? If they're offended, sorry, don't go there for dinner anymore, or stay outs hobby lobby...

blah blah blah, and if people here are offended they dont have to read those social media posts

it goes both ways

either both have the right to opinion or both are whining.... and consider there are many more posts by individuals here about those guests opinion than there were by them ABOUT their opinion...

so who's whining and asking for attention?

is that that negative thinking I was being scorned about earlier?

What is such a 'problem' with someone feeling offense at a choice of decoration for their arrival?

because it is the most well known and the most commonly read about or learned about source of wealth that the slaves contributed to.

you bring slavery into the conversations every chance you get.

FFS it is a decoration like wheat stalks. It was his home. If someone is offended by my decorations, they know where the door is. Sad that they didn't have the intelligence to explain their offense and let him explain. Instead they whine on social media. I haven't seen anywhere that it was done intentionally. Cotton crops weren't exclusive to blacks (same with wheat, tobacco, etc). IMO it is pity seeking. They need to grow up. If they were offended, don't put someone on blast without speaking to them or getting their sides. I would have some sympathy if they had done that.

I have seen nothing to suggest this was malicious. If they took offense, that is theor issue and they handled it wrong. As I have said....I am a big crafter. Cotton stalks are the new fad. Before that it was wheat stalks. Give them some play doh. I am not going to walk on eggshells. If someone is offended, see a therapist

common sense, what other tie would african american have to cotton stalk?

I use common sense every chance I get instead of emotional inuendo and personal attack ... mingle favorites in the political thread.

really mikey?

the person wasnt offended by COTTON, the person was offended that cotton STALKS were specifically singled out for their dinner, specifically tied to them and their slave heritage, INTENTIONALLY targeted.

actually they did:

“We were very offended,” the student wrote. “My friend … asked why there was cotton on the table as the centerpiece. His response was that he didn’t know, he seen it before we did, he kind of thought it was ‘fallish’, THEN he said, “it ISNT INHERENTLY BAD IF WERE ALL WEARING IT

they spoke to him directly, his answer was flippant and dismissive, like the posts here.

Humm the way I see it this center piece was in his home not at the school.. It is his home and they can decorate it the way they want too..

I assure you that if you are invited into my home and take offense in the way I decorate my house or how I dress you can turn your happy azz around and walk out the door..

I don't see that it was done to offend...

And if it does then all I can say ya need to grab a set of balls~~whoa
