Are you a real fashion geek or do you just wear and buy what you like, whether it's according to the latest trend or not?
MEN PLEASE TELL US ABOUT YOU TOO!!! This is not just for women :) I never could be bothered with fashion, although it does influence your taste of course, and often limits what you can buy. But for instance when these low-waist jeans were hip, I still managed to find normal ones. I seriously dislike low-waist trousers/jeans as I'm rather tall so on me they ride even lower on the hips. The current fashion (over here) I find horrible. Did I see gorgeous things in Pensacola, Florida, last year, over here it's things that my granny would wear. Or maybe she would even shy away from it, lol. I am so not going to wear that kind of stuff! Yet I see young ppl wearing it. These days you see girls/young women in the pub in knitted sweaters that seem to me something you wear in the comfort of your home. When I go out, I dress up. My daughter and daughter in law love Michael Kors handbags, I find them horrible! Whoever Micheal Kors is, he's making a fortune on nothing new as my granny used to have handbags like that? I really would not want to be spotting with an ugly thing like that in my hand, haha. How much of a fashion geek are you? . . |

I don't follow fashion at all. Jeans are everyday to me and depending on the day and what I'm doing, a t-shirt or a nicer top. That's it for me, except in winter when it's cold, I'll wear a sweater or flannel shirt.

When it comes to fashion, I wish I was gay.
I like dressing up every once in a while. 2 REALLY nice suits with interchangeable accoutrement. Otherwise strait flipflops/boardshorts...jeans...and warm stuff when necessary. Beachwear is my favorite! |

I am low maintenance nor do I have the desire to be a walking advertisement for (insert name brand here). I dress for the occasion.. when I am in the market to buy , if it fits and I like it, I'm buying it.
I think this topic runs in the same vein as keeping up with the Jonses' Ya know.. all your friends have that Michael Kors bag so you have to get one too .. Anyway no fashion clothes horse here... |

Hi Crystal,
Not a fashion geek at all. I usually dress for comfort with jeans and a Tee-shirt or polo. I still like some of the clothes from the 1960's and 70's like flares and bell bottom pants. I think a sport coat with jeans looks nice and I'd wear that to a wine tasting, festival or night out. |

If need be I dress to impress, but when home I want my comfort. |

And isn't that much nicer, in a sense it is freedom to not have to follow the latest trends. |

Mind of my own I am curious how you feel about the Michael Kors handbags. Do you like them? |

I keep those for special occasions only. |

Trenchcoat...and nothing else. How Inspector Clouseau! Do keep things warm during winter. |

Male culture in America is rather amusing in this area. It's contradictory. Since men are supposed to be strong and independent, the general sense is that we should reject fashion trends, to show how masculine we are. But at the same time, those who fail to keep up in SOME way at least, are seen as weak, poor, and backward.
One thing I know is the absolute worst thing to do in response to fashion shifts: for goodness sake, do NOT follow them, if there is any time delay. If a male is seen showing up wearing the height of fad fashion from two years ago, he will be laughed out of the room. As for myself, like most males I know, I go for a combination of basic functionality, modified as best I can afford, by things like color matching and neatness. What I would LIKE to do, however, if I had the big bucks, would be to dress in a fashion of my own design, which would probably be a little like a toned down Steam Punk look. I am a 19th century sort of person in many ways, after all. |

ha, makes me laugh.
When I was in the service I was forced to wear a tie. I vowed to never again noose my neck. I not only do not own a suit - I will not wear one. When I was working as a mechanic it was hot when I got to work and cold when I got off. I once had a period where I wore cut-off shorts, long john bottoms, work socks and sandals with a tee shirt. Yes, I went into public places like that. Now, I wear whatever I want in any combination I want. Its really freakin hot where I live. Any clothing is too much clothing in my preference. I wear shorts, sandals and a pocket t-shirt, the bare minimum I can get away with. If I am going to dinner, I have button shirts with a collar but I will not wear a tie. If I need a tie to get in, its to uppity for my personality anyway. I always wear a belt (weapon?) when I go out. I always make sure I am clean but I don't shave everytime. I have nice jeans and a pair of slacks, I have nice shirts and sweaters, I have 3 different shoes, my fav being my hiking boots. If I want to get dressed up presentable I can. I'm just not going to dress up so people will accept me from the clothes I wear. I dress for comfort only. At home, I wear house shorts (front pockets but no back pockets) and might wear a tee but usually don't. I also have no issue with being nude. I sleep nude and if I can't sleep I will go watch tv in the living room nude. I live alone and that is my prerogative. I wear solids, no stripes or dots or flowered Hawaiian shirts for me. I own a few printed tees but usually wear solid plain tees. I like cargo shorts and I usually wear a solid ball cap or Greek fisherman's hat. I have cowlicks during some periods of hair growth and I am self-conscious about it. When I was in high school, I used to use a black pen to color in the scar in my eyebrow (lol, haven't done that in a long time). |

A few years ago I was arrested by the fashion police.
Apparently it's not the done thing for guy's to wear high heels, stockings, small short black dress and a smile I have toned it down now, but that's only because I broke my ankle in the supermarket |

Even different designs to choose from. I've seen all kinds, stars, stripes, and whatnot. Isn't that great news!! Haven't I just made your day?! |
