I love apartment living honestly. So anything with at least 1000 sq feet and the right layout would do me just fine IF I was living by myself.

You don't know what you got til it's gone. I wanted to know what I had, so I got rid of everything. - Stephen Wright

"Wright" of course was hitting a comic chord, having to do with a common urge to "acquire". (George Carlin did it as well with his "Stuff" routine...."bigger house for more stuff")

Being somewhat sentimental and bit of a collector, I have been guilty of this. After doing some traveling I found myself happy and free living out of a backpack.

Lately I have been doing some BRUTAL purging of "things".

I am VERY interested in "what do I really NEED?" with just a few grounding triggers of what is "home".
So this tiny house movement is incredibly intriguing!

But could you live in such a small house, I wonder? Sure living out of a backpack is nice, the feeling of freedom etc. But such a small home to me sort of feels the direct opposite; closed in, no space and no freedom.

Purging of things.. going through that at the mo...

I would sure like to de-clutter, that's for sure. 2 floors, 1500 sq.ft each.. I like my space, so no tiny house for me.. but there's too much 'stuff'... so I am having a yard/garage sale at the end of August - what doesn't sell goes to the Goodwill.

I'm working towards a garage sale as well! Too much stuff indeed!
First I need to get rid of some building material from the garage though, wheel barrow and beams etc. in the way so first try and sell those so I got space for a garage sale.

I know it sounds oxymoron but...open concept in a small space, it totally works. Clear pathwys, everything has a place and purpose. I once took a studio apt because of its proximity to work. I had fold out tables, murphy bed, etc.. I could have 3 friends over for dinner and to watch a game very comfortably (5 with a few adjustments). I loved it!

The dumb thing was having the storage unit so I could go look at my stuff every few weeks.

No gigglesnorting allowed in a tiny house...you'll create a vacuum and break out all the windows.sad2

Yes, I've been interested in tiny/small house living for a few years, as it says on my profile. I get a tinyhouse news letter every day. I don't need a lot of stuff. I've been looking to buy a small house, but they're not easy to find. It MUST be 1 floor. Almost bought a house a couple of days ago, but the deal fell through. Oh well, still looking.

One thing I don't like in any size house, is clutter.

It seems a lot of people choose a "Tiny House" for reducing outgoings, maybe to save money on rent whilst saving for a more normal size home. If you spend a lot of time out of the house, work, visiting family, socialising, etc. It would probably work better than for someone that spends more time at home and inside the house. I would need more space myself for my own interests, and for family visits.

Well, i have a 1980 VW Vanagon Westfalia Camper.
Sleeps 2 comfortably and can handle 6, uncomfortably. Sleeps 2 up top in the upper level and 2 downstairs. 5 gallon,,, 20 liters of water storage. 2 burner stove, a sink, a propane fridge and a portable bathroom with propane water heater.

But....
I'm claustrophobic. So I like at minimum 880sq. Feet of space out to 2800sq.ft! Other than that..i would not want a tiny house!

Tiny house prices have soared around here I suspect due to TV and Internet buzzzzz.

One upon a time I thought a good idea but my house is 2,800 sq feet and too big for this now single guy.

Leaning more to the storage container deal to minimize cost and facilitate easy, Worldwide moves on the fly.

your right about the prices Lee... but I have seen so many ...
redone or just buying one someone else makes ... I would love it !
I saw a boat house for the water redone ... Totally Awesome ...

Would like to have it arrange for two and possibly one pet ...

I even see these premade large lawn houses ... thought about the same thing ... can be made for a tiny house ... I would like to design my house tho ...

I try to be less materialistic these days ...been there done that ...
less I have to take care of the better ... and have been thinking about tiny living for a long time ...

They do this around here you can sale your things right out of storage ... some buy before even seeing ... and so I have seen garage sales or yard sales on line ... to even trade for something you need ... as little as paint ... seems to work ...

Smaller always better in my mind.
I am form Houston Texas....Land of Mansions and cr@p. Money creeps thinking they are something.
Never been my idea of home.

I do prefer some land to go with a smaller home.
Somewhere in Mountains so I can see from my deck a ways down the road who is approaching. Just to be sure they are bringing some Bar B Q and beer?
