It’s hard not to take it personally when a friend request goes unanswered.

Developing a thicker skin can certainly help you feel less hurt when you don’t see a notification about someone you sent an invite to, but thinking about the possible explanations why you haven’t seen a response yet works even better. Most likely, the other party has something else going on that’s very different from your experience. They probably don’t hate you at all!

So, take a deep breath and wait for your turn !!

I suggest you try a different approach, perhaps by sending them an email as well telling them what made you want to contact them. It would probably improve your chances of receiving a reply from them, this is just my opinion.

Welcome to Mingle2 and good luck in your search.

To be quite frank ... if you take something simple like that personally, you shouldn't even be dating.
The other person doesn't even know you, so how can it be personal?
It's like saying "Hi" to a girl in a pub and she's not interested. Not personal either.

Furthermore ...

- I hardly ever look at friend invites. If a guy hasn't the baws to send a message, he's not the one for me

- I ONLY accept the ones from ppl I know from the forums or

- when I've been talking to them via PM and they seem genuine and nice

- Mingle recently installed an anti-AdBlocker proggie, so I can't even get to them anymore

Change your MO and work on self-esteem maybe so you don't take things personally that aren't.

There's always the possibility, that the profile just didn't get deactivated.

Yes don't take things too personnel on dating sites a lot are wary of answering requests because of the amount of fake time wasters.
A lot just use the forums a bit safer and fakes will soon get found out that's my opinion anyhow x

Myself I do not respond to the friends request or nudges... If I don't interact with them through the forums or e-mails on a regular bases.. I do not accept the friends request...

Nobody enjoys rejection of any kind so I think its only human to feel a little discouraged when it happens.

But you are right. It is nothing to take personally.

Most people are here for prospective romantic interests and see online friendships as a waste of their time`

And in some cases they have preferences for a certain age, nationality etc. , even for friendships.

I personally avoid accepting friend requests from people outside of the forum because in the past, guys told me they were interested in a friendship in the beginning , but then they became romantically attached very quickly and the interactions became uncomfortable for me.

At least, with guys in the forum, I know they were here before I joined , and are not fixated on me, so I don't feel the weight of heavy expectation.

hi

what do you mean by "unanswered" ?
do you want to know at least an ""accept" or a "decline" is chosen?
do the people keep them totally ignored? is it what you mean?

or do you want them to be accepted at all?

It’s hard not to take it personally when a friend request goes unanswered.

I have 406 pending 'Friend' requests.
Can't say I know a single name.
See the point?

This is not facebook... most people here ignore nudges and friend requests. So, don't take it personally. If you are interested, send a message or an email instead. Now, if they still don't respond, they are not interested. Well then, move on.

Try making friends first, then send a friend request.
