I'm about to go for it again.

The short term is not the problem....incredibly stubborn and look at the addiction as a living nemesis that I do battle with....so getting passed 2 weeks is just a cold turkey matter of will.

Around 6 months is where I seem to faulter...not completely sure why....but know that 1 of the psych factors is using cigs as a sort of "reward".(hence the smoke "break").....I'll finish my chores...then I'll have a cigarette. grumble It's NOT a DARN reward.

For the short term "tootsie pops" work better than gum for me (has the "oral" thing...don't go there)....and the fidgety hand thing covered.

I'll be starting the Chantrix program in about 2 days. I have quit before for about 6 months, but got stressed out about my daughter having surgery and started again. I think 45 years of smoking is enough for anyone. time to quit.

my doctor told me chantax was not a good way to go it causes elevated blood pressure. after having a massive heart attack about 3 years ago, the most important thing is to keep blood pressure down.

Chantix may cause high blood pressure, but so does smoking, so I chose chantix, after smoking for 45 years and being diabetic, I need this to help me quitfor good. I may even get a few more ballroom dances when I quit.

YOU don't want a smoke.....the nicotene receptors in your brain do.....the only way to make them stop wanting the nicotene is to deprive them until they are used to not having it. Much the same way you started in the first place.
