......or rather "someone" you have befriended (platonic or not)...who grabs a hotel room near your city, neighborhood, or rural location?

(Someone who might be interested in the Grandest Monument, OR a cool little diner that YOU value?)

I'm from Liverpool so I'd have to start with the beatles and Mathew street.
Two football stadiums
Two cathedrals, the old one is a magnificent building and it took over 100 years to build.
We have more listed buildings in my City than anywhere except London so a look around them is a must.
The art gallery
The Tate gallery
The Albert dock and the slave trade museum, part of our shameful past.
Speke hall, said to be haunted.
Anthony Gormleys 'another place'. It's all statues stuck on the beach looking out to sea. Quite close to my home actually.
John Lennons former home.
The University's
Strawberry fields
Penny lane
Then there's the theatre's
The Museum
St Georges hall
Royal Liver building
and lots lots more
Yes I'm very proud of my city and they're just a few off the top of my head.

Well, Edinburgh has the biggest arts festival in the world and there's the medieval architecture of the Old Town with the castle and that and the Georgian Enlightenment architecture of the New Town and that's all in the city centre and the train station is as well, so it's pretty good for meeting someone and giving them a bit of a tour. I meet them at Princes Street anyway outside the station and it's just a short walk up the bridges, where there's the intersection with the Royal Mile, which goes up to the castle. There are plenty of pubs and some decent restaurants around there. There's the Burke and Hare, for example, which was named after a couple of bodysnatchers. Conan Doyle studied medicine here and the Sherlock Holmes stories are actually about Edinburgh and not London. I probably wouldn't take a date to the Burke and Hare though because I think they have strippers there now. I do more of a Trainspotting type of tour anyway and we go for a walk around Arthur's Seat and talk about how we may be scum but the English are wankers.

If your talking about that statue with his bits on show then that's outside Lewis's department store.
Sir Jacob Epstein is the guy and I don't think he would be very proud of himself if he saw it. Then again he was a sculptor so he may have done it himself, but I think not cos I'm sure he would have exagerated.

We would head for the mountains, The Great Smoky Mountains!....bigsmile

First to downtown Gatlinburg to explore, eat salt water taffy, and get high:tongue:

Next to The Murder Mystery Theater in Pigeon Forge for dinner and a show...Laugh till you cry!

Finally, DollyWood by night!smitten ...Exciting, fun, romantic (or not:wink: )

Probably not Franky. Let's just forget about ancient history and go and get pissed.

Twas a movie reference. You know? Like when he wants to know where the white women are in Blazing Saddles.

Anyway, there's the castle and all of that shite and I can show you the David Hume Tower but it's a hideous modern building and I do know where his house was in Sout Saint David's Street but there's just a pub or a hairdressers there now I think. I do know a good pub near the university and the Royal Mile though and it's got a cobble stoned beer garden.

By this time I've downed quite a few pints of lager and I'm as pissed as a fart. I'm not sure what else you want to see. We've got a couple of football stadiuims as well and the Medowbank stadium, where they held the Commonwealth Games when we had that here. I know a really good pub down Leith where the docks are where they do excellent fish and chips. Shite, I just took you down Leith and we're back on the Trainspotting tour again. Let's not go down Leith. There is the hibs stadium down Easter Road but I can't be doing with football. I live on the other side of the town near Tynecastle. I also live near Murrayfield, if you are into rugby. Oasis played there and so did David Bowie. I like to go out for a walk when there's been a rugby match on and walk through crowds of miserable bastards that just had their team beaten. It's the same experience that you get if you go to Easter Road on a match day anyway.
