Probably not Franky. Let's just forget about ancient history and go and get pissed.

Twas a movie reference. You know? Like when he wants to know where the white women are in Blazing Saddles.

Anyway, there's the castle and all of that shite and I can show you the David Hume Tower but it's a hideous modern building and I do know where his house was in Sout Saint David's Street but there's just a pub or a hairdressers there now I think. I do know a good pub near the university and the Royal Mile though and it's got a cobble stoned beer garden.

By this time I've downed quite a few pints of lager and I'm as pissed as a fart. I'm not sure what else you want to see. We've got a couple of football stadiuims as well and the Medowbank stadium, where they held the Commonwealth Games when we had that here. I know a really good pub down Leith where the docks are where they do excellent fish and chips. Shite, I just took you down Leith and we're back on the Trainspotting tour again. Let's not go down Leith. There is the hibs stadium down Easter Road but I can't be doing with football. I live on the other side of the town near Tynecastle. I also live near Murrayfield, if you are into rugby. Oasis played there and so did David Bowie. I like to go out for a walk when there's been a rugby match on and walk through crowds of miserable bastards that just had their team beaten. It's the same experience that you get if you go to Easter Road on a match day anyway.

Oh I am sorry, didn't realise it was from a movie, I haven't seen it.
Sorry againflowerforyou

You don't half make me feel old Franky. You haven't even heard of Trainspotting? It was Ewan McGregor's first movie and it's based on a book. Probably wouldn't be your cup of tea though. My old tutor at the university said that when he interviewed people that wanted to be students he asked what they had been reading and they were all saying Trainspotting. Now Literature professors are actually lecturing on it. It's got f**k words on every page and it's all written in slang.

I LOVE Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge!!! Went to Dixie Stampede and ask my hunk of a waiter if I could have some water please. He said "sure want that in a glass or would you like me to take you out back and hose you off!". I was shocked!

Depends when you visit and how long ya stay... Owensboro area is really offering a lot. Mothers day weekend is the BBQ festival. We have a beautiful botanical garden. At some point the drive in movie and the dairy freeze! There's Trunnels Farmers Market and family fun acre. Yellow creek park has awesome walking trails. Reids orchard offers a lot and hosts the Big O music fest. This year is Charlie Daniels and Hank Jr. Owensboros Riverfront is georgous! Then I'd take you to Elis Park race horse track and across the state line to the Casino boat. (you'll find me at the roulette table!). 30 minute drive to Holiday World and Splashin Safari amusement park. Then take you out to the sticks throw out some fishing lines and fish all night. Then have the biggest fish fry and shen dig this side of Kentucky!

Depends on what you are looking for. Maybe a picnic at pur local lake and a walk along the nature paths.
If you're into wine tasting, we could take a tour of local wineries in the surrounding area. A drive through the country when the cherry orchards are in bloom.

There's definitely no shortage of things to see and do during your time in Vienna, and getting around is easy due to the walkable nature of the city (cycling is also a good way to get around). For far-flung attractions, the five metro lines are your best bet for getting there quickly. Trains run every two to seven minutes on average.
One of the most impressive sights in Vienna is the incredible Hofburg Palace. Located near the Herrengasse station on U-Bahn Line 3, the palace was home to various emperors until 1918, and now houses several museums which are open to the public. The Austrian president also has his offices there, in the compound's Imperial Palace.
Viennese cafes have been serving up caffeinated beverages for centuries, and make for a perfect rest stop throughout our day of heavy exploring. Not only are the offerings delicious, but in many cases, these cafes are located in older heritage buildings, making patrons feel as though they've stepped back in time.

If you are an Art lover you will want to devote a full day to exploring the sprawling Kunsthistorisches Art Museum. Exhaustive is perhaps the best way to describe the collections contained within, including some that focus on ancient Greek, Roman and Egyptian art. If you are an architecture lover then you will want to visit just for the building itself.
History lover? then let's visit Freud's historic flat on Berggasse 19 where he practiced psychoanalysis until 1939, when he left Vienna for London in order to escape the Nazi regime. Because of this, the museum's collection is rather limited, but the experience of being in 'Freud's room' is still worthwhile, nonetheless.
Shoppers go to Mariahilferstrasse, one of Vienna's most popular shopping districts. We will travel there via the U3 line, and get off at either Neubaugasse or Zieglergasse station.
If you visit Vienna during the winter months, we may check out one of the city's popular Christmas Markets. Running from mid-November right up until Christmas Eve, these serve as popular social gatherings where good food and wine are on the menu. Rathaus is one of the busiest and most popular Christmas Markets in Vienna, though there are plenty more to choose from, and entry is always free.

Vienna holds many hidden treasures. The soul of Vienna is behind doors that you don't easily find and in hidden cellars that aren't so apparent, like the Zwolf-Apostelkeller, or the 12 Apostle'sCellar, marked only by a small sign and situated underground at Sonnenfelsgasse 3, just a few minutes walk from Vienna's iconic landmark, St. Stephan’s Cathedral (Stephansdom), one of Europe's best-known Gothic buildings. Zwolf-Apostelkeller’s rows of wooden tables sit beneath vaulted ceilings surrounded by walls that predate 1561. The dungeon-like wine cellar serves up a selection of beer and wines as well as hearty Austrian fare, at a good price plus if we go during the early evening you may even hear authentic music played by locals.

It's discoveries like these that enhance the visitor's enjoyment and understanding of Vienna, and certainly, tourists must dig deeper to discover the real Vienna.....pics to follow.
