My friend's shrink told her that if you have 12 pillows or more you might have abandonment issues. How many pillows would you consider to be too many for a bed?

Would you say a body pillow should count for three of those pillows? I am trying to cut down.

12 pillows??? I'm not running a B&B. I think I have 3 pillows. My own, a spare and 1 for my mum. I do have 5 decorative cushions on my bed. When I go to bed, I chuck them on the floor. If you regard pillows and cushions to be the same, then I got 6 during the day, 1 when I sleep.

Too many pillows equals abandonment issues? And these shrinks get paid big bucks to stay stuff like this. Amazing.

I wore one body pillow out from use. I had to get a back up body pillow.

I think people read too much on what other people do or have. My parents have a bazillion pillows on their bed, but it's because my Dad has a bad back and he uses some of it to elevate himself on the bed. Same with my Mom, because she's sick and confined to the bed, uses a number of them when she eats, to lift herself up. Ergo, we don't have to always read between the lines. Sometimes, there's really nothing there.

two car accidents in one year left my back in pretty poor shape that's why I have so many pillows on my bed,,lol but not 12, that would be smothering,,,to me but perhaps comforting to others, abandonment is one possibility to explain the desire for so many pillows but it would better explain it if they were stuffed animals or dolls,,
