Topic: Letting it ALL Hang Out? | |

Public proclamation (about ANYTHING) should be well tempered and thought through.......and some things, we should keep to ourselves!
(not an original thought, but in my own words, in a moment) There's so much stress to be absolutely "real" and share intimate moments these days it seems.....and don't get me wrong. I firmly believe that being honest with everyone, STARTS WITH BEING HONEST TO ONE'S SELF!!! ......but broadcasting EVERYTHING is such a new phenomenon. Do you save anything for yourself? Tell me about it. (tehee) |

I was just called "aunty" by some Indian guy. Is that oversharing? And should I be offended or just mildly amused?

What is considered to be normal, open or too much, differs per country. I'm Dutch, we tend to be quite open and down to earth. Had one of my English friends feel very awkward a number of times, he's reared the old-fashioned English way, keeping up appearances and stiff upper lip stuff. Keeping up appearances is so not Dutch.
I don't share everything though and sure as he|| ain't gonna tell you, haha |

I remember this time when I was doing my computer training. It had been funded by the Job Centre and they made us go there every Friday to sit round a table and talk to someone about jobs, even though I was only doing the course because I wanted to go to university and needed to learn to use a computer for that.
Anyway, a lot of the people on this course didn't like me much because I'm outspoken and don't give a shiney shite about keeping up appearances or any of that crap. So, we were sitting round this table and when it came to my turn the woman asked me what sort of job I was looking for and I said, "Lion tamer". The wankers weren't too impressed by that, or some of the other things that I said and they started slagging me off and picking arguments with me. I traveled to that college by taxi and on the way home I told the taxi driver about it and he said to me, "You're just an open book mate". Oh yeah, forgot to say that most of the other people on the course were from Glasgow and I'm from Edinburgh. |

I have worked from the premise that there is a time and a place for most things. Telling every thought that floats through your brain is pretty much mental melt down. It is one thing if someone is legitimately asking for an honest opinion on something but most times telling really personal stuff is going to come back as a too much told. Some things just are better kept a mystery.

I wholeheartedly agree with a time and a place for everything
I don't quite get twitter, I don't have a desire for people to know Im going to my bathroom or brushing my hair, and I have no interestin knowing if someone is walking through the mall I Think there is too much CYBER connection and not enough real life,,, just my opinion |

I know catholics and protestants but we don't go in for that sectarian crap so much here and I don't even follow football. I was speaking to a neighbor about it and he said that he can't be doing with guys that ask what team you support to find out what religion you are. He was saying that even when you say that you don't follow football they will ask you what team you would support if you did. Yeah, there are areas in Edinburgh like Bingham that I wouldn't be seen dead in and they are catholic areas but they are rough as f**k and full of dickheads. My ex is now with a guy from Pilton. Wouldn't be seen dead there either. I hear that it's not as bad as it used to be though and they have knocked down all of the tower blocks in Edinburgh, apart from the ones down Leith. I live near Tynecastle and Murrayfield but like I said, I don't follow footbal and rugby is for posh brainless types that hang about toilets. |

If its interesting to me. I tried Twitter for 3 days. UGH. To me, that was the biggest waste of time. Especially the fanboys/girls that follow celebs/people and act like they give a crap...lol Too much cyber is a bad thing, which explains why I'm of here for 8 months sometimes. I got fresh air to take in, people to look at, and sights to see:) ...and work |

This guy I was talking about still has old-fashioned views, plus the Dutch are quite different, so he was somewhat overwhelmed at times. But he learnt quickly, he comes over to Holland regularly, so he's getting used to it. He||, he even went to Africa the other day with his missus. Couple years ago he'd barely travelled farther than Essex. Us cloggies clearly done him a world of good. (he even has clogs that he actually wears at home, hahaha) |
