What kind of emails do you send to people on here? What kind do you expect from others? In those first few emails, what makes you keep chatting?

Dodo, do you have a response to the OP?

I send messages based on either things said in the forums that catch my attention, or something in their profile that I read that makes me want to ask a question. I like to hope I get the same thing in return. And I will keep exchanging messages as long as they polite or friendly and we have something to talk about.

What kind of emails do you send to people on here? What kind do you expect from others? In those first few emails, what makes you keep chatting? I will sometimes send an email to someone for a comment from something in the threads, and usually we'll chat a little but if they don;t continue to converse I won;t keep messaging and probably will not message them again at any future time (but it's fine if they wish to msg me). I figure if someone wants to chat they will continue to respond. When I get emails I seldom answer if it is not someone from the forums and as long as they are friendly I will always answer |

What kind of emails do you send to people on here? What kind do you expect from others? In those first few emails, what makes you keep chatting? I send an email to a member to say Hi, and to see if they are interested in exchanging emails, and if they are, and we have mutual interests this keeps us chatting. I am happy to exchange emails whenever I receive an email from a member just as friends, and not always looking for it to become any more than friends. |

I brought this up, because the last several emails I've received just said "hi" or "how are you" and that's it. After that,it's tough trying to get them to chat about anything at all. I see why some people ignore those emails, because 90% of the time, the people who start off with that never have much to say. |

Seems a lot of the regulars or "real" folks will send a message once in a while saying "hey I liked ur post" or to discuss something outside the threads too

I rarely send anything to folks on here. If I do it's about something they said in the forums or in reply to something they sent me.

I hear that.. it's hard to find people with real substance.. some even treat the email like an IM.. yeah.. that's kinda tedious.. that said.. I have had some really GREAT exchanges with some of the regulars.. on and off.. keeping in touch with old friends or even sometimes with some new ones.. we must remember though.. for some? the written word is not as easily come by |

I get home from hiking and make myself an awesome dinner, sit down an sign into mingle... there an email from some guy from Ontario , not that far away and he's cute so I read his profile, he has a quote on there from ghegis khan and he's a martial artist. OK so far so good. so I msg him and tell him that I have always been fascinated by the great Khans figuring we'll have an interesting convo but of course not he msgs me back with some horse droppings about how hot I am and how he wants to be all up in me can anyone say "block/delete" ? he totally ignored what I said in order to pursue his own user type agenda total turn off |
