the only time not to say it is if it is not true

because it can be a life changing phrase, so if it isn't true it can be heartbreaking

you're right, it is a life changing phrase, sweetestgirl... that's exactly why it can be heartbreaking if it's misused... thank you for posting your thoughts too... flowerforyou

'I Love You....'
...Are merely words unless followed by action.

Don't say it unless you're willing to show it. JMO.

I love you. I love you. I love you.

Now...all you need to do is 'show it'

Do these three words, “I Love You”, hold some kind of magic power that can change a person’s life overnight?

Or is it only the lonely hearts club band that knows the tune to this song, and how these three words can string people along?

 Is saying, “I love you”, ever wrong?

I don't think it's wrong... generally speaking, (From old traditional values.)

If you "love"... say so.
I things change along that path... say that too.

Playing games with love and emotions seems to have taken on new definitons that I haven't caught-up to yet... and the few that I have... well, I prefer the older versions.
If it ain't true... it's a lie.
And I don't make room for lying...
But that's just my point-of-view.

Still, ya' gotta see the humor in it all, no?

Yes, ultimately, if I can't laugh at myself, my foolish mistakes.. what's the point of it all... we live and learn...

But, if it's really love, Teditis, and at our age we know if it is or not, it's not a game... emotions aren't a toy... this online thing is a horse of a different color though... it's like you have to play the game because everybody else is...

when it's all said and done however, I'll still be myself, and it will probably still be just Hammer and me... cuz we make a pretty good team... flowerforyou

Aye, I agree completely.
However I disagree too, see?

For some it's not a game... for others' it's ALL game.
They dance through life and suck the life outta others, haha.
And then call themselves right... and others wrong.
Say that our expectations were unfair, yadayada.
And to disagree... well, now, that can get messy.
(They might be right... but you ain't wrong.
So, life's SOP has changed... and we others, adjust.)

Still, I'm happy to hear that you're knowing that you will still remain true to yourself after all is said and done.
That's rare... that's lovely.

I don't think you can say it unless you mean and really feel it. It just comes with so much weight attached to it.

Unless your name is Jim Morrison, you probably shouldn't say "I love you" to someone if you don't know the person's name yet. laugh

It should never be wrong if it's sincere. If the other person doesn't want you to say it or doesn't say it or doesn't like you saying it...pay attention...your affections may be misplaced.

Feel it. Own it. It's a gift to whomever you give it.

It's never wrong.

Aaahh.. I know that empty, having the life sucked out of me feeling all to well... it motivates me to dance only to the beat I can hear in my own head... and it's cool if others think they're right, cuz in real life, I don't have to be somebody I'm not just to be liked... and if challenges get messy, that's what a dust pan and broom is for... flowerforyou

It's only wrong when it is said if that's what the person wants to hear.

This if my deepest questioning... kahurangi... so we are able to use these words as a tool to get what we want from others?

'They' are able to...because 'we' includes me, and i'm not capable of doing something like that to another just to satisfy my want. I would rather go without. If that sounds too self righteous...sorry bout it.

But yes...'they' can. Which is why i prefer real life to online, because you can gauge a person better through eye contact/body language as opposed to mere words on a screen.
