I have sat here after watching the news for the last couple of hours about the shooting... It amazes me that most here have only argued on the gun control issues. But not once did anyone mention about the safety of our schools...

Sure we have had many shootings that pertained within our schools so why have we not looked at the issues of the easy access to our schools?

Do you realize that anyone can walk right into our schools but yet the Day Cares are harder to get into? My grandson's Day Care when you walk in there is someone at the desk the doors to the right and left can not be opened unless they buzz you in. But yet the elementary and up schools you can walk right in. Sure there is a sign that tells you must go to the office to sign in. But even the school my granddaughter did go to the office was as soon as you walked in, one still could have walked right past the office down the hall to the rooms.... Matter of fact I did at one time..

So why is it our schools do not have the same safety measures???

Schools after a certain time should be on lock down. I mean your fire exits you can go out of those doors but you can not enter them. So why after all this time are the doors in the schools not done with this same safety feature?

My heart aches for all those innocent children and the parents having to deal with this... The worst to me would be the death of a child....

With all that said sure gun control should be strict but as many has said guns do not kill people...people kill people and those that wish to will get a gun regardless of gun control will and can...

You overlooked my post on increasing safety in schools....

isnt it sad that we have come to a point where elementary schools need to be on lockdown, with armed personnel?

huh What the . . .

Dude, that statement of yours was uncalled for.
The tragedy that has occurred is not an occasion that should be used to bash President Obama.

In this country we play lip service to the saftey of children.

We send babies out into the world with homeless mothers to live under bridges.

We force the young adults of child bearing years to work multiple part time jobs with no benifits for health care or even enough income to support modest apartments that nobody builds.

We send them to decaying, understaffed, over populated schools with little or no security, where children are routinely bullied , molested, and fed slop, with text books that were used when we were children.

When our children are made victims of crimes we care more about the criminals rights than the kids and the children that survive wait months for services designed for adults and are woefully underfunded by mental health insurance coverage.

My guess is you will find that this killer has had a long history of abandonment by his family, community, and medical services and as soon as he decided he did not want, or could not afford it, he stopped counseling, medication, or has been self medicateing with a variety of chemicals that are yet to even be deemed illegal because we don't attemtp to keep up with the growing drug epidemic .

In the misguided attempt to offer medical privacy a profoundly mentally ill newly emancipated so called adult can opt to seal his "juvinile" records and basiclly make him or herself untouchable by the system until they do somethig crazy as an adult.

Instead of offering/requireing guardianships and assisted living to those actively mentally ill recently juvenile patients the families hands are tied behind their backs to have any say in a young adult's ongoing care. And in this case the Mother paid the ultimate price as did her "School" family for which I am pretty sure this young adult carried severe feelings toward as his Mother probably worked many hours off the books trying desperately to hold on to her job/income.

I don't know yet, but it wouldn't surprise me at all to find the killer had been under psychiatric care and given antidepressants. There seems to be a pattern emerging in a lot of these senseless killings and SSRIs seem to have a rather prominent connection.

Wonder if he was a ritalin kid as well.

Perhaps, the Gov. ought to take problem kids and raise them.

Take kids from Mommies who have kids and won't/don't have the means to support them and provide them with the wholesome environment they require.

Seems like all the solutions to the problems created by irresponsible women and men will fall into the laps of the taxpayer.

Why should we/they, pay for stupid girls/women that won't shut their legs?

Or, hire armed guards, Barry creating jobs, to protect innocent kids.

You know, as well as I do, if the jobs are created, he will take the credit.smokin

I can almost see the libs creaming their drawers knowing their babysitting Gov. will use this to further restrict Law abiding citizens who actually protect, when they can, with their concealed weapons.

Apparently his brother Ryan said Adam was autistic. Autism is commonly treated with SSRI's. I'm coming to think guns don't kill people, SSRI's kill people. I'd say that odds are ten to one they'll legislate against guns instead of repealing "gun free zones" and putting strict use on things like Prozac. Legislating on those issues would probably go a lot farther to prevent tragedies like the Connecticut shootings than putting yet more restrictions on guns.

It is my understanding that the school in Connecticut was another gun free zone. If it had not been, and the teachers & staff had been able to carry firearms in the school, this tragedy might not have been as severe...if it happened at all.

If anyone wants to scream for legislation, it should be for the repeal of gun free zones and drastically hindering use of SSRIs, which after all, are only "antidepressant" cash cows for the drug companies. It might be a little early to say whether or not Adam was on SSRI's I'd be willing to put money on it that he was, especially after reading this.:

Maybe somebody should bring up gun free zones and SSRI's with Obama before he blames it all on guns.

I am astonished to see people trying to assign blame for the shooting before all of the facts have come out.

Apparently such prejudicial blaming makes some people feel better.

I get that you hate the president, but using this horrific event to rant about the president is low, even for you.

The facts seem pretty clear to me; a whole lot of innocent little tykes are dead and I'm mad as hell about it. This didn't need to happen.

I suggest that this is one of a rash of mass killings that need not have happened. Who is to blame?...All of us...for not taking action long ago...for letting legislators pass stupid, reactionary legislation (that only exacerbates the problem and takes away peoples' rights) instead of looking for real solutions, like outlawing the drugs that cause so many killings, or the gun free zones that make innocent people so vulnerable.

What happened is completely f***ed up! We're talking about elementary school kids here! I don't see the motive. I mean, I could understand why a man who caught his wife cheating and in a rage killed his wife and her lover for example. In no way I condone violence much less murder, but at least I understand as a human the flood of emotions that may lead to poor choices.

This is something else altogether. I don't understand how anyone could do this. There truly are monsters amongst us apparently.

How someone could look a five year old girl or boy in the eye then decide to shoot them in the head is an enigma which only can be answered by those who are now in the lowest parts of hell. May God not have mercy on their soul

why are Schools declared Gunfree Zones, then hoped that the Criminals who smell easy pickings will desist from striking precisely where it is easiest to do their Dirty work!
In a place where they have to fear no armed resistance!
The Blood is on the Hands of whoever came up with that insane Idea of an unprotected "Gunfree" Zone!It is just inviting Disaster!
Really wonder who thought up such a Travesty?

Another Mass Murder in Gun Free Zone
Time to blame the tool truly responsible.

by
Howard Nemerov

By now, you’re probably aware that at least 26 people, including 18 children, were murdered today at Newtown, Connecticut’s Sandy Hook Elementary School.

This tragedy happened despite the school district implementing new a “new safety policy designed to prevent situations such as what happened on Friday.” These new protocols included:

* Locking exterior doors during the day.
* Visitors required to ring the doorbell and register at the office.
* Photo ID required if staff didn’t recognize you.

There was no provision for training and arming teachers and qualified parents. This was wishful thinking, assuming that everybody was “nice” and that an insane person bent on publicity would behave by the rules.

As with nearly all mass murders, this occurred in a gun-free zone. The shooter was breaking the law as soon as he carried a firearm onto school property. He broke the law as soon as he aimed a gun at his first victim, even had he never pulled the trigger.

School-zone mass shootings didn’t begin until after passing Clinton’s Gun Free Schools Act. (There were prior mass murders, but explosives were used to kill 38 children.)

The victims were given a pretty security blankie to suckle on, being told to go back to sleep and feel good that the school “cared” enough to enhance their security protocols with no need to acknowledge that the real world is a dangerous place. Bad people are running around at large, some of them calling themselves public servants. Bad things happen to good people. Deal with it by claiming your God-given right to life. Arm yourself. Train like your life—or your family or community—depends on it. Be awake in public. That’s what being part of the militia is all about.

The next time some two-legged sheep or posturing predator uses such tragedies to bleat that more gun control will make us safer, place the blame on the tool creating these mass murders: Government that promises to keep us safe, yet fails to do so every day. Government that demands we pay taxes for all these feel-good “safety policies,” but after taking money from hard-working taxpayers, turns around and tells us they are not obligated, in the final analysis, to save our lives.

Staggers the Imagination!

The Looney Left is already making this about politics. They sure didn't take long to start in on their gun control BS and Dem Congressman who's district is part of where this happened took the opportunity to praise the President when talking about this tragedy! Not to mention Obummer jumping at the opportunity to get in front of the cameras and talk about this situation!
