The CEO of popular pizza chain Papa John's says his employees may face reduced hours and he expects his business costs to rise because President Obama's re-election most likely insures the president's health care reform law will be implemented in full.

NaplesNews.com reports John Schnatter made the remarks to a small group at Edison State College's Collier County campus the day after the election.

Schnatter, who supported Mitt Romney in the election, said all Americans having health insurance under ObamaCare is a good, but estimates the change will cost Papa John's $5 million to $8 million annually.

Schnatter estimated that these rising costs could adversely affect his workers. Since only full-time employees working 30 hours or more must be covered under the new law, he said he expects franchise owners will be forced to cut employees' hours because they can't afford the costs of health insurance plans.

"That's probably what's going to happen," he said according to NaplesNews.com. "It's common sense. That's what I call lose-lose."

The comments were not Schnatter's first statements on ObamaCare. He made headlines in August for telling shareholders the law may lead to increases in the price of his pizza.

In addition, the Applebee’s family restaurant chain is under public attack, including the threat of boycotts after New York-area franchisee Zane Tankel told Fox Business Network that cost increases related to implementing ObamaCare might result in no expansion or additional hiring. Critics appear to have interpreted Tankel’s comments to mean he will layoff customers as a result of ObamaCare.

Successful companies reducing their employees' hours so they don't have to provide health insurance? Sounds like greedy employers not wanting to provide what they should to their employees.

Looks like the health insurance they used to be able to afford has been replaced by a high tax.

Demand a repeal of the oBummertax.

the stench is strong from bs mountain, isnt it?

how likely is it that megamillion corps like applebees or papa johns couldnt afford a dollar more per hour for full time employees to pay the 'fine' of not offering the coverage?

we get similar tantrum like backlash whenever minimum wage is raised,, but we keep surviving,,,,,

It is sour grapes that these companies are taking out on their employees.

And they will suffer in loss in profits for it because they are on my boycott list and others are getting on the bandwagon. It is more than these two too.

Pizza Hut
Olive Garden
etc...

Yeah, they were talking about that on Bill Mahr. I guess "Papa John" said that he'd have to add 15 cents to a cost of a pizza to cover the cost of health insurance for his employees.

I don't know about you all, but, as little pizza as I eat, I think I could cough up a dime and nickel to help the kitchen staff.

I feel for Papa John. I sure would hate for him to go broke. I know where his house is and it is a multi million that has a drawbridge. It ain't cheap maintaining a drawbridge now. What's a brother supposed to do?.........smokin

Aahh Poor guy now he will only make about 49 million a year instead of 50 million. 15 cents a pizza is not a steep price to pay for hard working employee's who fill his pockets with gold.

Papa John should turn his attention to trying to make a decent tasting pizza.

And the folks who run applebees should try to find a way of making anything that tastes decent.

How do people have the figures on how much the oBambytax will cost companies?

What was wrong with the insurance they were already able to supply?

Actually it is the franchise owners who are going to suffer and be forced to shut down. They are barely able to keep their doors open as it is.

We love millionaires who throw, kick, and bounce balls
We love millionaires who pretend to be someone in movies
We love millionaires who play guitars, sing, and dance
We love millionaires who talk on late night TV
We love millionaires who controll our lives in government
We hate millionaires who create jobs

I just don't understand it.

I agree...It's weird that so many people side with wealthy corporations these days and "bless" everything they do...Where is the caring and patriotism on the part of these corporations? The truth is they don't care...They nickel and dime their employees and ship jobs overseas because all they care about is themselves and their "beefsteak bonuses." And keeping their shareholders and the "Wall Street bosses" happy!
